ah, they basically play rap & hip hop. back in the late 80's and early 90's they at least played a little rock.
its not Music TV, its rap/hip hop/stupid reality show/commercials targeted towards ignorant teens TV.
sickening. i refuse to watch, and quite frankly, i hope they're one day pushed off the scene by another Music TV station.

mtv brought me daria, aeon flux, downtown, jukka brothers, zig & zag, ray cokes (BEST TV PERSONALITY EVER), simone angel, megamix, partyzone - i still remember when i saw the video for sven v�th - l'esperanza back in 1994 being really fascinated about the track. and then rediscovering the track like 6years later.
and also alot of cool techno/house videos that i remember but can't put a name on. mtv has gone to shit but ye, mtv europe > mtv america

I was @ Tiesto on Tuesday and his opening DJ Jack Trash played a track w/ lyrics about MTV. Can anyone ID the track? It was a house sound, thanks.

I dont have a problem with MTV. I mean I don't like a lot of the music they play, when actually music. But whatever its usually what the masses like, good for them, thats what ipods are for. I like the shows like real world. Good mindless entertainment for when I get home from work.

I saw some retarded show today while I was in school, (2nd to last day... we're just messing around now) and it was about how a person's parents don't like their current girlfriend/boyfriend, so they put their child on a show, which gives them 2 girls/guys to pick from, or the old girlfriend/boyfriend. The one i saw was with a guy, and on the first date with this one chic, she pole danced for him, licked him, and just inundated him with sex. He of course chose her and dumped his old girlfriend.
What's scarier than that, is that his old girlfriend was a b****, as well as his parents completing egging him on to do all this crap. MTV is just sick, and NOT in a good way 
How I long to have those days of beavis+butthead back...

I hear MTV swallows
From a producers ear, so many of the pop and hip hop records played on MTV sound very rushed.. and those characters like Little Jon and Chamillionare have the same producers. So much simulation of cheesy synths and effects, like delay, sound like shit.. it really shows how the electornic producers who brew their tunes in their basement and are musically trained blow "top 40 engineers" out of the water!!!
i think Pop and hip hop sounds poor, rushed art! music is art.. and those guys arnt the next Michelango
