srsly WTF!!!!
I just did a slow head turn to the left and walked away
This was my first visit to TiL.
I get there just after 11 and see the guestlist line go all the way around the building and I'm thinking to myself - "It's going to a disaster inside." I had no problems with the guestlist lady walking around. Thank you, John!!!
Made it to the front of the line in about 25 minutes and the bouncer checking ID looks at my shoes tells me to exit the line and wishes me a good night. Granted, I was wearing my Nike trainers and was warned beforehand that I may not get in. Stupid "style code"!
Apparently my shoes were not "stylish enough". So, fine! I ask him if I go and change my shoes, can I come back? He says "yes". Off I go back to the car - luckily for me I brought another pair of stylish shoes just in case this scenario did crop up. When I came back, I spoke to the same guy and he let me in... I kinda felt like a VIP there for a split second.
I get inside and the place is rammed. Fortunately it didn't take me long to find friends. I was able to meet with up with Laura, Andrea, Steve and Larissa (you were funny! ha ha!!).
Nathan Barato dropped some sick beats the whole night. I thoroughly enjoyed your set! Sanchez came on at 3:30-ish, I think, and pretty much spun for only 2 hours?? It wasn't nearly enough. It was great set though!
I spent quite a bit of time on the 2nd level where there was a great view and enough room to dance. The sound level was a bit low compared to the main floor...but it was ok.
Overall I did have a fun night. Would I go back there again??? In a word - yes, but it wouldn't be very often. The style-code needs to go!
Graham & Sasha - Sorry to hear about what happened to you guys!

Face it there are clubs like this in the world...
The bouncers might be dicks but they are going to keep being dicks, because the come to be seen crowd is also the type of crowd that spends lots of $$$.The owners couldnt give a damn if the patrons know music or not as long as they make $$$.Yes it sucks to dance in something other than runners, but reality is that certain places want a certain image.
Sure here in Montreal you can get into all of the afterhours establishments wearing running shoes, but try a nice lounge or supper club...it wont work. The funniest thing is that even when packed the afterhours clubs arent making very much if any money. The ritzier places dont have half the patrons but are raking it in.
The bottom line is the almighty $$$$
Life sucks wear a helmet.
ps i will be seeing Roger tonight at Medley...in runners and comfy dancing clothes...

TiL was the first club I went to when I visited Toronto. And I had heard horror stories about people not getting in, so we took precautions considering we were 3 guys with no girls:
1) Dressed to the 9s, dress shoes, pants, nice shirt etc.
2) Showed up right when it opened practically (10:15?)
3) Acted the part even if it was BS. You've gotta look like you're one of those snobby fake people and be confident about it. Not standing in the line "oh, no I gotta hide my shoes...we're not gonna get in, oh no etc".
We were lucky in hindsight. But we came prepared and it paid off.
Regardless I agree the bouncers are f*cking idiots. 3 hours after we had gotten inside, a random bouncer decides to ask us for ID (w're all 23-34). We were WTF "WE'RE ALREADY INSIDE IDIOT". Then he kept flashing his flashlight in our eyes for the next 10 minutes. COMPLETE TOOL. It's the Indian looking bouncer, if anyone knows who I'm talking about.

| Originally posted by ChemEnhanced u are so right..the management and owners could care less if you actually like the scene. All they want is the hot hip crowd who is willing to spend hundreds of dollars on drinks. This makes it a place to be seen.....if you go there and get in then you meet the cool standard. |

pretty random reviews
well looks like eventho a very good friend was celebrating his birthday, i'm glad i didn't go, couldn't deal with more retarded crowds.
stevie, we will do it up proper in montreal.
Dress code is totally cool imo...I have no issues with dressing up, since I do it all the time. It's the random age restrictions I loathe
I think Rampant and all the old system promotion crew should move to a different venue...
Never again will I waste my time with that shithole. I don't care that you need to dress up, It's actually nice having an excuse to dress up and have fun. I also don't care that its 21+, since I just turned 22 last week.
What pisses me off about TIL is the fucking inconsistency that the place loves to have. One week 19 year olds wearing hats are getting in fine, the next week you need to be 23 and have designer clothing on. Be consistent or dont bother hosting the party, ffs.
The bouncers are by far the biggest assholes Ive ever seen there. After waiting in line for a good half an hour, I get to the front of the line, hand over my passport (my brother borrowed my id to go party in the states this weekend :P) and the guy says "its 23+, we got an underager," and pushed me out of the line. Like, I can understand if I was 18 trying to get in on a fake id, but im perfectly legal in the city, plus Im old enough to meet their usual friday regulations. To hell with that place.
this was my 2nd time at this club and the first time since they started their soho thing. i dont see why everyone is so surprised snobies were out in full force. i got the same impression last night as i did a year ago. seems to me that people unfimiliar with this club are bashing it because they expect to be treated as though they are going to an all ages rave. there are clubs all over the world that dont let people in just cuz their face doesnt look right. boohoo go cry to mommy.
ps if ur 19 and looked good they wouldve let u in, the 23 thing is just so they dont have to tell ppl 'ur ugly'
and asshole bouncers attract the right kind of ppl in terms of $$

um i wasn't there last night, but i've never had a problem there. granted i've only been twice, but seriously! i went expecting complete asshole staff members, but i have had nothing but good experiences at TIL, much to my surprise, i admit. and in regards to dress code, i've worn trainers and jeans both times, and there's been no hassle.
maybe, like irish addict said, it's cos i have boobs. lol
I'm 20 and I got in last week... but I was with people who knew the bouncers and promoters and it wasnt packed at all...
I can just imagine however the scene last night. I would not go back simply because of the smoking... I hate it... Enough of this "private club" business. Otherwise, its an okay place... nothing exciting. I don't mind dress code either.

i was @ TiL for desyn and i had an amaaaaaazing time...
but last night...definitely went down as one of the not so
great ones...
we got there at 12:15 or so and we were in line for about
45 mins and when it was our turn the bouncer asked one of
my buddies, "how many ppl in your party?"
he told him that there is seven of us, and the bouncer says,
"sorry we cannot accomodate such a big crowd of guys" and
he just pushes the first 4 of us out of the line and lets
the next 3 go in...
after arguing with the bouncers for a few minutes and
convincing my buddies to not jet to footwork and give it
one more shot, the 4 of us went back to the end of the line...
split up in 2s, and went thru the same bouncer and got in
around 1:10am...
so yea they wasted alot of my time which pissed me off
and started my night on a bad note...
so just as i found my buddies and got a few drinks in the
system and blocked out all the retarded-ness i went thru...
it turned out to be a good time after all...
sanchez dropped an awesome set last night, it was my first
time seeing him and i'm waaaas impressed... great track
selection and bang on mixing ... it looked like he was
really pumped too and was interacting with the crowd which definitely spread alot of energy on the dance floor!!
i wish the lights hadnt turned on so early... i heard the
deep dish party went on till 8am????
i might just try my luck at TiL next time...
aaah... the over-crowded dance floor was quite a challenge
p.s. i got to meet my first TA... iLLnaDa
hope to see
you and other TAs next time
