I didn't think there could be anything on the planet that would stop me drooling at the sight of Armin...but that cover has done it. Ugh. *shudders*

well - not being a really regular asot listener i sat through every single one of the samples (which are the complete trxx) on the astral site and listened to it.
disc 1 - well it aint really trance - its prog. and its not really progressive. it goes twinkle twinkle, guitar, vocal - repeat. i spose a nice chill cd if thats what its for - but yer...i dunno how well this stuff would go in a club - there just aint enough meat.
disc 2 - more driving and oh so melodic. i dunno - kiksu is meant to be such a ch00n, but the track after it almost sounds identical. (and the one before...and the one before that). better than disc 1.
i dunno...i guess ive never been a masive armin fan - but yer i guess armin fans will be happy. a few tracks i like on it, (svd mix of control freak pwns),its really well produced, so clean (to the point of sterilty), and really..i dunno...happy.
so there ya go.
i give it 4/10.
robert miles has a lot to answer for.
i think this cd is rubbish...
cd 1 tho jules isnt really for a club, as it states i think its called On The Beach..
which makes sense.. but still the whole cd is a piece of shit

house music > Armin/Marcus styles
IMO
The main problem i have with the latest trance/prog trance/prog played by Armin, Marcus and the likes is that it just doesn't stand out. There's nothing particularly memorable about the tracks. So many of them use the same sounds, the same production techniques and they follow they same, safe formula. I mean sure, it's pleasant enough to listen to, but it really doesn't get me going in any way, shape or form.
* This music doesn't have the groove of house.
* This music doesn't have the rhythm of techno.
* This music doesn't have the energy of the 'old' trance
I just find it to be quite boring and forgettable, for the most part.
I would much prefer to listen to some chillout or some nice, groovy deep house if i was in Ibiza
