The dude failed....He said he was going under for 9min and he barely lasted for 7min. Why advertise something you cannot deliver on? He said that people were trained to bring him out on a stretcher if he didn't reach his goal and they pulled him out when they saw that he was struggling. I used to dig this guy when he did 'Street Magic' and 'Magic Man', but now he's all about this testing his physical self stuff.................MEH!

I think its quite understandable that he didn't last the full time, considering he'd been underwater for a week, already draining his system. He did his best. I dont think ANY of us could say they could hold their breath for 2 mins, let alone 7.

Do you think people call Evil or Robbie Kneivel 'failures' if they don't jump all the cars/ objects they'd hoped to?

David Blaine is FAR from being a failure. He risked his life to do that stunt.

2nd) I agree...I LOVE the Street Magic days...the stunts get a huge MEH from me as well....*shrugs* Could care less.

he probably could have lasted and broke the record, IF, he wasnt friggin shakled in the tank and having to use energy to get himself free. I'm sure the person who set the record for holding there breath, cause just doing that, not trying to free themself at the same time. even if he didnt reach the goal, he did damn good, considering being underwater as long as he was, then trying to pull this shit off, with thousands of people around.

I'm not being a grump, I speak the truth like Simon Cowell on American Idol. Even Blaine's people stated that he failed. David Blaine himself stated that he is disappointed and let his fans down. He should have said he'd go under for 7mins instead of 9mins. In addition, why tell the fans that he will not be pulled out until he breaks the record? That they were instructed to pull him out on a stretcher before the record is broken? C'mon.....
