Originally posted by Woodog The reason this thread exsists is to let people know that the tunes he releases aren't his own. Why the fuck should he get credit for messing up and releasing other peoples tracks? He must get money from it as there are record shops selling his albums over the counter regardless of the copyright issues. If people know what a silly twat he is then that might dent his credibility. It seemed to stop the people I showed that video to from listening to his tripe.
damn....so does this mean that
dj rankin-tracking treasure down ...is mislabeled?????!

Originally posted by Flowbee There's really no defending him. I started the above DJ-Rankin Fan Club site with tongue firmly in cheek after hearing one of his "mixes" for the first time. Personally, I don't hate him... I think it's some of the funniest music I've heard in a long time. I think it's equally funny how passionate his fans are... as well as his detractors. Nothing riles up the DJ community more than the mention of his name (except for maybe the "vinyl vs. cd" debate). My ultimate goal for the "Fan Club" website is to identify and give proper credit to the artists who have unknowingly contributed to DJ Rankin's success. To that end, I have posted the first in a series of DJ Rankin Truth Challenges to the site. Looking at one Rankin mix at a time, the challenge is to identify all of the songs he's used in that mix. This week is "I Am A Raver." We all know that Dave McCullen's "Rave Heaven" is the main song, but what are the other songs in the mix? If you think you know, stop by an post a comment. Thanks for welcoming me to your forum... it's really excellent. -daniel

Originally posted by Col But why? This guy isn't huge, people like you are making him huge. You're putting effort in to making sites dedicated to some randomer in Scotland, who really doesn't deserve the attention. He should just be fucking ignored, then maybe he'll go away.

Originally posted by Flowbee I'm afraid you underestimate his popularity. He may not be a household name, but his mixes have been traded and shared all over the world... going on two years now, with no help from me. The "Truth" video on YouTube, which I had nothing to do with, has been viewed nearly 10,000 times in 10 days... hardly influenced by the handful of visitors that my site receives. I started my site as a fun way to get accurate information to poeple who may be searching for DJ Rankin's mixes online. Ignoring him won't make those people go away.

Sorry to disappoint, but my only brush with Scotland was a report I gave about the Loch Ness monster in 4th grade.

there is a similar artist from NYC who goes by DJ-DLITE
he tried to pass That Mucho & DJ Chaos - "Release Me" off as his work.
it worked... brilliantly... till I heard the track in a Marcel Woods set.
i called him out on it, and we haven't spoken since then.
mmm.. DJ Rankin. I'm pretty sure when you go to hell he's playing in the lobby.
"DJ Rankins music is characterized by multiple songs being mixed together at a fast tempo, with high-pitched chipmunk vocals layered on top, often clashing with the underlying arrangement, and his ubiquitous catch phrase DJ Rankin in the mix, mutha f**ker thrown in for good measure."
Is this for real? This sounds like what we'd all be listening to if the Nazi's won the war.
"While it doesnt seem like a recipe for musical success, DJ Rankins manic mash-up style caught on with young listeners, especially in Scotland, Whales, and Northern England."
Don't even get me started on those f*ckers.... Nearly once a week for a while I kept having these idiots adding me to their messenger lists via the info posted on my site.. with names like ~*~*}I LUV^HAYDEN^4EVA!!{*~* trying to talk to me "LYK AREET OI!!"
Whoever this DJ Rankin is, HE SHOULD BE TERMINATED!!

don't give dj rankin all the credit!
theres also dj mystik who started this whole shin dig
also that mario lopez track had gigi d'aggostino's bla bla bla layered atop of it
Yeah, this guy is really popular round here (well, I do live in the North of England) with that alcopop-drinking, cop-a-feel, no-hairs-on-their-balls breed of teenage dickhead who's too well off to do hard drugs but too fucking mindless to get a job worth holding.
