So I've listened to the album, and was less than pleased. Most of the tracks were disappointing, aside from Galaxia, Beautiful, Cubikated (which really needs to have that scratch sample taken out) and I Love You. Far too many "Electro"-ish tunes.

6/10

Posted by Push2005 on May-28-2006 09:55:

Overall I must say I like this album . It's way better than that crappy "Right of Way" stuff. I'm glad Galaxia is on there in full length, that track really is a beauty... But 16 tracks on 1 CD is too much, the way "L.E.F." is edited is just ridiculous... Toooo short

I really enjoyed "L.E.F.; Galaxia; Watch Out; Are You Ready & Freefalling"

Posted by Ted Promo on May-28-2006 11:16:

Out of the version I got, I liked Cubikated, L.E.F. (kinda), Galaxia, and I Love You. But that's it, almost every other song irritated me actually.

4/10. It's pretty bad, this coming from someone who really likes Ferry's style usually.

Posted by zoric on May-28-2006 12:08:

Galaxia is nice ofcourse, Freefaling is very good while the rest is pretty bad TBH.

I'm a big fan of Ferry and I didn't have any higher expectations on this, So, I guess I'm still satisfied with the small amount of good tracks.

We need Flashover remixes for sure

a big +1 to that statement.

"Beautiful" & "Possession" are the only two tracks that made me excited,, "I Love You", "Galaxia" and "Freefaling" are good too.

Remaining tracks including released singles "Watch Out" and "Fire" suit better to the general electro theme used in whole album but it's not my style

Re: Ferry Corsten "L.E.F."

I think its a very very good album by ferry corsten. much better than right of way, without any fillers. I haven't found one song that I don't like at all. best tracks on this album are imo:

03) Fire
04) Loud Electronic Ferocious
09) On My Mind
10) Down On Love
11) Forever
14) Cubikated
16) I Love You

the rest is also very good, but the ones I've mentioned obove stand really out of this album.

I would rate this album 9/10. one of the best albums this year so far, and much better than tri-state, shivers, just be, gabriel & dresden, without you near..

the only negative thing that could be mentioned is that he could have used a bit less vocals, but hey, they really sound good, not cheesy at all.

Didn't he make an updated version of Underwater that was supposed to be on the album?

Posted by Wyndham on May-28-2006 18:59:

lol how anyone can say this is better than right of way blows my mind. Most of it is just cheesy electro loops..or catchy vocals. I think its a sad cd for someone with his talent.

We all get that people are pissed because they made arrangements to fly/stay there, etc., but to even bring mention of this on TA and then state "STAY OFF THE FERRY CORSTEN.COM MESSAGEBOARDS" is just inviting problems.

Lastly, who are you and what makes you some representative for the Ferry forum? You sound like a parent talking to a 5 year-old.

lol! i wondered that myself too. really weird IMO.

I know, but I thought it's a good idea to compare with just be because its the last album by tiesto, and ferry corsten will be always compared with tiesto, pvd, armin..

right of way had some good tracks: sublime, kyoto, sweet sorrow.. the rest was more or less average

I was quite dissapointed with this album. Not many tracks that stands out. Most of them sounds like fillers. I had high hope for the Gangstarr track. I remember BT did an excellent job with him on Knowledge of Self, but this was a weak affair.

5/10. i know ferry already shown great skills in the past. i'm just sad to see that he is following the same path as Tiesto, PVD and Armin.

Yeah, I know, it's from that Together album (or whatever it was called), but I heard him play a version of this song that sounded like the original but with the sounds changed tho his "electro" style sounds that he uses today.

I love the bonus track on the japanese version of the album, System f - insolation (Ferry Corstens Flashover remix), it's wicked!

Posted by v3ct0r on May-28-2006 23:21:

It was a really interesting CD. I'm listening to it for a second time as we speak (meaning it wasn't that bad). I got the version with "I Love You" as the bonus track. There's a lot of electrohouse, breakbeat, uplifting trance on this cd, its probably a transition cd for Ferry, I'm assuming his next cd will be pure electrohouse. Its a completely different direction than PvD, Tiesto, AvB and the "others", so he has to be commended for that. There is flow in the CD, I'm not a big electro fan but I even enjoyed it. If anything, the vocals screwed up a few tracks, the music itself is decent. I've heard half the tracks here on different compilations but they're still good nevertheless.

I only HOPE that he will go back to uplifting trance when performing live because nobody does it better.

CD: 7/10

What the heck r u talking about?!!!

Armin and Tiesto all are into progressive these days, especially tiesto is more a Housy DJ.

But Ferry Corsten took the Electro and techno combining with Trance. remaking tracks or just combining the 80 style. Some of them are good, but yes that's right, Ferry Corsten's uplifting side sounds much better. He has proved he can be always the best Uplifting Trance producer. Come on, just listen to "Beautiful"!

I'm not talking about DJing, I'm talking about prductions.

when I said that he went the same path I meant that also Ferry Corsten went for a weaker sound. This electro thing is a trend at the moment. It appeals to the masses. Sasha, Digweed and others are playing it including loads of techno djs which also went for a more electro sound. So no, Ferrys sound is not new or refreshing. It's just riding on the electro wave.

v Disappointing album...wont rate it more than 4/10..

Posted by hardcore trancer on May-29-2006 05:49:

God I cant stand this whole electro garbage.I hope Ferry goes back to his roots one day, because his new stuff sucks ass.

Posted by YO-I on May-29-2006 14:25:

Im disappointing i dont' understand why ferry make electro album.
he his the master of trance, im sorry that he follow gabriel and drasden with this crap sound of electro.

i love the old ferry corsten not the new one...the only reason that i may buy the cd its because galaxia and the bonus track i love you.

Posted by Lagoona on May-29-2006 14:43:

I really have to get a hold of this album

Posted by jediguy on May-29-2006 16:24:

so many comments like these.. but you seem to forget that ferry uses this sound already for a long time. listen to "right of way", released in 2004, and you will notice that his songs had already in the past electro influence. its really funny if you actually have expected an uplifting album by ferry, it's the same as you would hope tiesto would produce hardcore tracks for his next artist album..

and please don't compare this album with the new one by gabriel & dresden. I think this one is much better, but if you want pure electro get g&d album

so if there are artist that "ride the electro wave", gabriel and dresden surely count to this group.
