Coke is a drug of choice for dJ's cos it makes them feel good about what they are doing and makes them feel confident. IF u r nervous, whats better than a few lines of coke eh? Even if they are doing shit on the decks, they won't feel bad co0s they are smashed. Oh well, they should stick to MDMA instead. heh heh!

The truth is that if you look at the history of any field of art - be it painting, poetry, music or whatever - from Van Gogh, Lord Byron, Bram Stoker, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Jane's Addiction to Sasha or whatever, you'll find that drugs featured pretty prominently in the creation of most of humanity's greatest works of art. I don't know if the drugs help them to free up their creativeness or if the 'artistic' personality is one that's naturally drawn to caning it, but the two have gone together for as long as some caveman took some peyote and drew that freaky shit on those cave walls.

i remember seeing sandra collins coming up on a pill, she was on a big fuckoff screen at GC SSS last year hehe.. was possibly one ofg the most beautiful things ive ever had the honour of seeing

also dropped pills with mauro before, at NEC.. him a caner heheheh! when we woz talkin to him he sed he was a cluybber first then a dj... sound bloke.

nick riley was out of his face the other weekend...

ashley casselle was so fukked he couldnt write his own name, yet he managed to pull off a 4 hour set that would stick anyone under the table!

name me a DJ thats made a name for himself that hasnt done drugs at one time in their career.

WHAT? are you kidding? how are cave paintings any LESS art that any other drawing? what is art? i think that art is prolly everything or nothing. if you are expressing yourself creatively, then its art. you could also begin to debate levels of conciousness, because you could say that things that are engineered per se, for reason of function without consideration of art COULD still be art, since they possibly come from some repressed inner drive. late/

Well heres a little something on the topic.......a friend of mine came back from a vacation in israel......and after speaking to a few promoters there they told him that last time TIESTO visited israel....he got busted for having a decent amount of pills on him(ecstasy that is)....so we both kinda laughed about why he always has a smile on his face.

On the second note.......u all know that rock stars are known for drinking and drugs. Well these are our rock stars...so give them some space. As the slogan reads....."Sex, drugs, and rocknroll".....well to us its "sex, drugs, and TRANCE"

Paul van Dyk must drink at least a little bit. Come on, he's german, drinking lots and lots of beer flows in his blood. Plus, when asked in an interview how he came up with the name "VANDIT", his reply was: "Scrabble and a bottle of Wine!" Anyways, as stated by many other people here, the dj's personal life and choices are just that, Personal. I like them because of their music. The fact that they do drugs or might be homosexual or whatever has no influence on whether I like their music or not.

On a different note, I think it's funny hearing that Tiesto does all these drugs. He's been quotes several times saying that you shouldn't have to be on drugs to enjoy music. OH WELL

By the way, does John Digweed do drugs? (No pun intended, seriously.)

Oh, I also heard that once at a live gig, Oaky snorted a line of coke off the mixer, and passed out while he was mixing. Can anyone verify this?

this is actually a good thread man. my personal opinion is that i dont have a problem with the dj's using the drugs. i mean, their fans are, why can't they :P I agree with others tho... when it becomes a problem (ie too stoned to spin) then thats not right.

I think Sasha is pretty much the master of getting fucked up at/before his gigs. The number of quality stories that I have heard about him are second to none.

And he's still one of the best DJs in the world hands down.
