B.B.E - 7 Days & One Week

Posted by SYSTEM-J on May-28-2006 15:38:

In terms of dance music it will have been No Limits by 2 Unlimited. I used to have it on a tape compilation and just play it over and over. But in terms of trance it was Zombie Nation.

Er... it is just anthemic trance with electro sounds. It was on all the big trance compilations, trance mixes and is generally accepted as part of the more mainstream trance movement around that time. If it isn't trance, then what the hell is it?

its called Kernkraft 400 and its BY zombie nation. Im also pretty sure its techno.

I know that- I have the single. Everyone knows what I mean when I say Zombie Nation, which is also easier to type. Anyway, I'm referring to the DJ Gius mix which is the most popular one and the one that saw all the radio and club play. The original mix is techno but largely forgotten now.

it's driven by a main lead and has a breakdown, true... this gave it enough resemblance to trance for MoS to whack it at the start of TN4 & subsequently push the sales up. but i still hesitate to call it trance, much in the same way as scooter's 'the logical song' (which i believe made it onto big trance compilations at the time also)

and both dave clarke & carl cox played it... hardly renowned trance djs

Posted by Spacey Orange on May-28-2006 17:50:

some of the stuff you guys listed isn't even trance, but whatever.

i'm pretty sure i heard some trance as early as 1992, but i really can't specify with high degree of certainty which track or when or where i heard it. it's probably The Age of Love - The Age of Love given that it seems like i've always known of it.

if i have to be specific about a time and track, then it probably would be the trance tracks on http://www.discogs.com/release/37058 in early 1995 and, to my great fortune, before Children hit the airwaves.

my favorite trance track is definitely Xangadix - Xangadix and i first heard this in the summer of 1995.

Binary Finary - 1999

I don't think the Logical Song was on Cream and Euphoria compilations, or spun by the likes of Oakey.

Yeah, 'cause Dave Clarke did his own remix.

But favourite would have to be '1998' (Original Mix)

Posted by Braincreator on May-28-2006 18:26:

i think that my first trance track was ATB - The Summer , anyway my favourite is Kenny Van Mutt - Nadia (Original mix) forever <3 ^^

Posted by Derivative on May-28-2006 19:52:

1998 made my phucking mind explode when I heard it. Minimoog was back with a veangence. The lead on was so alive and the saturation sounds like electricity...Now the moogs have disappeared from the face of mainstream dance music. Again. BAH

Humate - Bedrock 3.1

Space Cat - Beam Me Up

Jaia - Breathing Ocean

also had my brain doing backflips inside my skull. Then comes the inevitable 'shiver down the spine' and you *know* its good when you get that.

Posted by Gjorgji on May-28-2006 21:19:

I've started with ATB - Till I come and Darude's Sandstorm

Posted by basd on May-28-2006 21:51:

Stanley Shanti & The Chillum Wallahs - Placid

Since it is the opening track on this, and that was the first trance CD I ever heard.

Posted by Insomnia`SF on May-28-2006 21:56:

2001 delerium - silence (tiesto rmx), i was already kind of into trance but this shot me to a new level...also heard it for the first time the first time i tried pills...go figure...

gouryella - gouryella

It was one of the first tracks that gave me shivers, the break is phenomenal.

First: An ATB mix album that time forgot.

Posted by hmongboiZ on May-30-2006 05:20:

robert miles - children (but i didn't know this song was trance though back then; it just sounded good to me)

up until years later (2000) when i heard ayla - liebe and atb - 9pm and don't stop; thats what drugged me. i'm an addict now. i'm a trance addict. (and there's no cure) =)
