wifebeaters are KEY for dealing with heat and humidity!

They're great - perf solution

Another reason I love them so much.

I was in my car for about 20 minutes, and I got burnt. I can see the outline of my sunglasses,

To all those people that like to tan:

Many people go to tanning salons to get a "base tan" before they go on a beach vacation.

The idea is that a few sessions of indoor tanning will protect them from burning in the sun.

But there's no proof that this is true. The risks of tanning far outweigh the unproven benefits of the base tan. Ultraviolet light, whether from the sun or a sunlamp damages your skin.

Repeated exposure increases the risk of premature skin aging and skin cancer. The best way to protect your skin from the sun at the beach and at home is to use sunscreen with an SFP of 15 or higher. Sunscreens that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide stay on longer and are especially good for water sports.

Other tips for protecting your skin: Avoid midday sun. Wear sun-protective clothing such as hats with broad brims.

---

From a PharmAssist article I read today.

Posted by Jem_hadar on May-30-2006 00:46:

Also I just read that the "SPF" only indicates the amount of UVB protection a sunscreen produce will offer, NOT UVA. (Though that may be listed separately...

but note: An approved rating system to measure UVA protection has not been approved at this time!

---

I've been reading up on this shit of late, because of my natural tendency/inkling to get burned and not worry about it overly.

Obviously this is bad and I should stop. But everyone who is tanning needs to realise how bad that is for them too!

Overexposure to ultraviolet radiation shows itself as:

- a tan or sunburn
- wrinkling of the skin after long-term exposure
- skin cancer and cataracts

Found out that very simply put, UVB rays = sunburning rays
UBA rays = aging rays

im gonna try a mystic tan this weekend, see how that pans out. I never an in the sun, and Id just rather try that then the beds. If it doesnt work, or i dont like it, ill try the beds after.

oh and I use Nivea's glowing moisturizer, it's really subtle but works the best once you already have a tan, it just adds that nice glow with a hint of sparkle

I use that one too! It's a good product though I do find it a bit too heavy for the summer.. i wish they came out with a lighter version. Also, Nivea has a body moisturizer out now with a hint of self-tanner - Touch of Summer.
I liked the Jergens one so now I'm giving this one a try.

Just make sure to follow all the instructions such as turning around at the right time..
I got so freaked out when it started spraying that I just stood there frozen trying to hold my breath. Mystic Tan is definately not for me!

Best bronzer/moisturizer out there. Also its like $6.99! Doesnt stink or stain your clothes and has a nice little shimmer. So much bang for your buck!

Hmmm, see, I am uber pale, and everything, minus the Jergens has left an awkward discoloration. This stuff seems pretty cool, but for 32$ i'd have to see it on someone. Have any before / after pics?

niiiice .. I have such a "kid in a candy store" experience everytime I'm there (usually Yorkdale) LOL

thanks for the suggestion.. I heard a lot of celebs use that St. Tropez stuff

for the girls sticking with Jergens, Walmart has it at like 4.99.. you can't beat that!

i dunno dude it just seems very wrong on so many levels...like getting burnt to a crisp, 'embraceing' the pain, wanting to see pictures of somebody's burn (which I find the creepiest)....but whatever floats your boat man
