none, in a classics set in 5-10 years time there will be hardly any from 2005/06, will just be 1996-2001 stuff

It's not about the fact that those tracks from 99 are actually cheesier than today's cheese...
Fact remains that today's cheese is boring as hell, and we should actually all look back at teh Eurodance-era for the best quality cheese!

Its just as cheezy, but 1995 vs 2006. If tracking treasure down was made in 95 it may have been aproached differently, but today its used and abused.

And thoes TTD vocals are soo bad.

nvm TTD just sucks

Robert Gitelman - Children Of The Sun

Awesome!!!!

Unfortunately, classics aren't necessarily great, nor do they have to be groundbreaking. Classics are classics because they are remembered and passed on memetically to later generations. The White Room will always be remembered in trance, partly because of newbies who lauded it in its early years, and partly by elitists who considered as nothing more than mediocre, generic McProg. Personally, I consider Out of the Blue to be one of the worst trance tracks ever written, but it'll still be a trance classic, because it will be remembered.

Unfortunately, the classics are so very often some of the most poppy, derivative and uninspired crap to have hit the decks, mostly because of the tendancy of the music industry to inject pop into a style and recycle everything that's been done, then they make sure that only their stuff is readily available. That's the stuff that remains famous, and it's the stuff that becomes the classics. The only thing that can be done for more unknown, but truly inspired, good music is for it to be promoted by the people that listen to it a lot. They shouldn't wast their time complaining about the pop machine, because nothing can really be done about that.

edit: Thread Closed

(Happy now?)

Cool

I listen and see some shows live and these are the tunes that makes the crowd go crazy and scream when it start

Chicane - Offshore (Live)
Chicane - Saltwater (Original Mix)
The Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (Thrillseekers Club Mix)
Energy 52 - Caf Del Mar
Safri Duo - Played-A-Live (Original Club Mix)
Solid Sessions - Janeiro
Robert Miles - Children
BT - Flaming June (BT and PVD Mix)

Underworld - Born Slippy
Astral Projection - Mahadeva (John 00 Fleming Mix)
Gouryella - Gouryella (DJ Tiesto and Ferry Corsten Mix)
Nalin & Kane - Beachball
Sasha - Xpander

Of the new stuff ... I do not agree and do not consider none ... but I think that the majority and many sites considers these

Above & Beyond vs Andy Moor - Air For Life (Original Mix)
Tiesto - Adagio For Strings
Gabriel & Dresden - Tracking Treasure Down
Tilt - The World Doesn't Know
Perasma - Swing 2 Harmony

These tracks that become a classic for me are

Kalafut & Fygle - 3579 Km (Hydroid Remix)

just because u like a track, or that you think a track is good.. doesnt make it classics, I see suggestions here like: Jonas Steur, Adagio For Strings, Above & Beyond, etc. they are well produced tracks, but they arent even close to be considered classics.. they are *based* on the classic tunes..

however I think these can be considered classics imo..

Three Drives - Greece 2000
Three Drives - Sunset In Ibiza
Three Drives - Carrera 2
Three Drives - Air Traffic
Amethyst - Andalucia
Lost Witness - Happiness Happening (Lange Remix)
Sosa - The Wave
Ayla - Ayla (Part Two, Taucher Mix)
Kay Cee - Escape
Moonman - Dont Be Afraid

+ many more.. blabla

Well I think Andy Moor many sites tell he plays a ''classic'' Air For Life on his set ... well for me the track is really good ... but not a classic ... I write that I do not agree and the majority like very much this ... and many trance sites call these tracks a new classic tunes of course of the new stuff ... specially Above & Beyond vs Andy Moor - Air For Life and most of people tell Tracking Treasure Down is a new classic and others Adagio For Strings ... I don't like this track's ... now you remember Ayla - Ayla (Part II), Ayla - Ayla (Taucher Remix) that I forgot to mention and Kay Cee - Escape that I agree ... about Three Drives I think only Greece but for me it's not a classic it's a good track ...

that Tracking Treasure Down track sure has been hyped alot on this board unfortunately i havent heard the track, as I really dont care much about the hypes of today as i`ve been let down and dissapointed so many times by people yelling "OMG ch00n!!!" to some average sounding tracks.. that i hardly believe in any hype that my own.

Posted by fbgdavidson on May-30-2006 21:49:

Cass & Slide - Perception
BT - Mercury & Solace
Chicane - Offshore
Chicane - Saltwater
Blank & Jones - Cream

Some of my favourites that would fit into the classics category.

you are with absolute reason

again people can't read threads, this is supposed to be tunes of today and the past couple of years that may be rememered as classics. and whoever put Delerium - Silence in as a recent track needs to look up the years

But, on the other hand: tracks can't just be declared "classic" when they're only 2 or 3 years old...

So if I'm correct, this thread is about predicting if the tracks are going to be classic in teh future
