Admitting the problem is the first step to recovery...LOL

Thanx MK...respect breeds respect back.

There is a very very very high chance that there has been other family memebrs in his liniage that had schizophrenia... it might not have be in any living family memebers either... during my classes i've been taught that the gene that passes on schizophrenia can be dominate ( meaning it can affect numerous members of one family) or recessive.. which means it can skip an entire generation without effecting anyone and only appear once or twice in all living members

but like many ppl have said before there are many theories linking drug use to schizophrenia.. but if you say that someone else in the family had it.. i would have the say that your cousin having the disease is most likely due to the hereditary link...thats just one gals opinion though

im not apologizing kel. maybe u shouldnt be treating ta as a therapeutic session. i dont want to mean cause i know u got other problems in ur life far more greater to dwell on then this but, if ur gonna post ur personal business in a public forum where the mature and immature, old young, and ppl of all walks of life can read, expect to have a few comments in ur thread to go off topic and not be supporting u emotionally.

after all this is not dr phil addict. privatematters i always believe should be kept private

srry to here about this *hugs* to u

really what you can do is give as much support as you can. luckily we arent living in the past when people with psychological disorders were thought to be evil or possesed by demons or whatever. and the ability to treat this disorder is quite good these days. We are still learning about this disorder dopamine overactivity is implicated but the brain is so complex nothing is that simple, the 5ht2a(serotonin) receptor was recently conncected to this aswell.

Fish oil can be of some benefit. The fats in fish oil (omega 3) are required by the brain everyday for proper functioning. The brain is mostly fat and this type helps neurotransmission flow smoothly among other things. It helped out my depression alot.

Schizophrenia can be mild or severe. Usually hits young adults.

I knew 2 people who were more severely afflicted and unfortunately they ended their own lives. With one, her condition came and went away every few months. The other was undiagnosed but his mother previously had schizophrenia or severe depression (and was another suicide) essentially within a couple a weeks he became very delusional and convinced Ninjas were after him, this was very sudden and he was working as an accountant until about a week before.

I know a couple of guys who have schizophrenia in a milder form. One is just a little eccentric, likes to shout out religious things in public places and is slightly obsessed with wanting to be put in hospital or prison so he can "preach". But he is on a monthly injection that makes him almost completely normal. The other one on the surface is normal but can be quite paranoid and talks endlessly about virtually anything so people don't want him around too much, he's not on a medication, probably should be.

It can badly mess up the lives of the people around the schizophrenic person, if they are family or close friends. So I'd suggest learning as much as possible about the condition, and be especially alert if their conditions get worse and be prepared to intervene (call for help) as that's when the suicides are more likely to happen.
