They used to all be made in the UK, but now they have a plant in China.

All Xone:92s and Xone:3Ds are still made in the UK. Everything else is made in China, I believe.

And I didn't start this as a debate, as I previously post, it's just my opinion.
I wasn't referring to your post, per se, more the current attitude towards Xones.

Speaking of the xone:3D has anyone actually used one? They cost $6,000 Aus so I doubt any shop actually has them in stock here.
I sent an email to A&H to ask what manufacturing process they use. I'll be interested to find out...

storedj.com.au has them, $4,500.

I personally saw an XONE:92 at a store last week...it said "Designed by A&H in the UK" on the back, and had a sticker that said "Made in China" on the bottom....so I think only the XONE:3D is spared

I don't know. I saw a picture awhile back of a Chinese girl in a factory holding up a Xone 92.

according to A&H's website the 92 still is made in the UK:
http://www.allen-heath.com/ca/faq.asp

dunno though, i guess things could have changed.

probably not updated...but I'm 110% sure of that XONE:92 I saw....I specifically checked it out to look for the made in china sticker...sure enough, it was there.

Excert from reply to question asked of A&H:
quote:

Here at Allen & Heath we use both conventional and surface-mount technology. As a rule of thumb the older products use conventional technology (SMT), and the newer ones use SMT, or a combination of conventional and SMT. Generally SMT boards still use through-hole capacitors as any really practical level of capacitance is not available in SMT.

Oh dear... Look what I started..

LOL. i asked more out of my own interest than anything. The dodgy fader mentioned by whoever it was sparked my question. It my be easily repaired was my thinking.

after reading the whole thread, i like this thread. i use a gemini bpm 1000. yeah i know, im way back on you guys, but i only have debts, no credits at my bank, so it's already a victory that i own a mixer (plus 2 gemini 2000 mmk2's) ... seeing you guys talking bout xone's and pioneer's makes me soo ... jealous? of course a bit jealous, but at the same satisfied with my own thing. cauz im still able to do a decent mix for someone who just started dj-ing. one day, of course i want to own a superb mixer, with a good quality, and if possible, an eye-gasm-making design, like a xone. such a state-of-the-art mixer would even fit in a new designed or decorated living-room ...

anyway, 1 small question i have; almost all my mixer's 'buttons' crackle at some point (ps; is a fader the thing that makes a lineair movement, and the button that makes a circular movement a rotary button?).
especially the EQ buttons. whats the best thing to get rid of this? using some contact spray, and spray/clean the faders/EQ's with this?

cheers
huub

ps to J:/Digital ..... im soooooo excited to see what ya got 4 us & yourself of course for kinda mixer ... its been 2 weeks now still without an answer .. so please, dont keep us waiting

Except for a select few on here that had Techs and expensive mixers to begin with, most of us started out slow with some relatively "shitty" deal just to get the ball rolling... I had 2 Gemini PT2100's (actually quite good) and a Gemini P-something 626 or something.. haha.. 3 channel Gemini mixer anyways... It worked for about 5-6 months, while I lived with my parents and had to listen to them bitch and complain... but once I moved out, I snagged some Technics as soon as I could, upgraded to a Numark DXM06 mixer... had that for while, then upgraded to the Denon X1500 mixer.. and had that for while... then sold it ALL for personal reasons... and only just a few months ago changed genre's, picked up CDJ's, but no mixer.. so bumming a buddies broken ass Behringer DJX700... so this is the fourth mixer I have bought.. and its sitting down at the store waiting for me to pick it up... but I don't get paid till next week..

Contact spray might help the problem, tho that usually is a sort term solution. Buying replacement parts is easiest (assuming you can get them for your mixer - depends on age I guess), but you could always pull them appart and clean the crap out of them. It would require desoldering, dismantling cleaning and reassembly, then resoldreing. It depends on how much patience you have. I have never had to do rotaries tho (potentiometers)

so, this is the new mixer you bought? the 'big secret'? if so, 1 big disappointment; pics of that mixer have already been posted in the bedroom dj section thread in the past (not so long ago, though)
