I think you might be talking about the track that can be found on Danny Torrence's post on here. Go to the Review of Danny Torrence at Sonic...I think he was there on May 6th. Look though and you will see that he has posted a link to his web site. Once there, look for his "April 2006" demo link. I think it is track three....it's right after "He is", but I can't recall the name of the track.
Let me know if I got it right!
Thx Dan, that was in fact the song I was thinking of

Got to Sonic a few hours after arriving in Toronto. Walked right in with tickets - no line but then remembered "afterhours club" as we got inside. Nevio was cheese - sorry, but that did not do it for me. I danced but more for the fact that it was Friday and all I wanted to do the whole 4 hour drive there was dance and see TOTAs.
Sonic is beautiful. Quite possibly the best club I've ever found as far as layout, design, sound, etc. - it suits my musical tastes nicely. The light rigs were beaut but the damn "round the circle flashies" that kept getting sent off were too much for the formerly dark and dirty space. The loss of the downstairs wasn't too big a deal thanks to the enlarged seating areas. Now....just do something kewl with the patio, eh? The piles of garbage sitting out there just don't do it for me when I want to smoke a clove and the only windbreak is next to the cess.
Vibe started up too slow for me. It got the point where I was chain smoking cloves outside to stay awake. Then he finally hit my mark around 4am and we stayed till around 6ish. I danced till I felt like I was going to fall over - I was a sweatbox leaving that place (more money spent on A/C rather than supersonic lightshow?) but it was well worth it. Doing the "mock battle" dancing with Keith was fun at the end - "oh yeah? You think you look goofy? Watch THIS!".
In the end, Miami was better but the last hours I was there made it worth it.
Got vids and pics too - will post tonight.

As an aside, I find it funny how there are sooooo many anti-gay people in this forum, people who are just repulsed by the gay contingent of the crowd, who would sooner die than be seen at a gay club - but they LOOOOVE Dj Vibe! I hate to break it to you, but 80% of what I heard at Sonic on Friday was typical of the music at fly on Saturday nights.
Guess what...this "dark dirty tribal" that you have just discovered has actually been a staple in the gay scene long before it moved over to the straight clubs.
yup - to both of sarah's comments above. lol
fuck, even teh RJ and floorwhore have been rocking the Rej for months now
lmao

someone needs to photoshop "sketchbag" in big bold letters on the bottom of this pic. lol
Not really sure what to say about this party
I did not enjoy myself as much as I thought I would. I just couldnt get into the music. Which has made me come to the conclusion that I am over the DRUMS, give me VOCALS. I also found that the Sonic vibe just wasnt there on Friday night. The crowd just wasnt going off as they normally do. There was no vibe for DJ VIBE
On a brighter note, it was great seeing everyone again. Happy to hear that most of you enjoyed yourself. Until next time.

I had a great time on Friday night! DJ Vibe was everything I expected and more. For the first part of his set, I was a little worried that I would be dissapointed, but he certainly proved me wrong. His set just got crazier and crazier throughout the night. I agree with everyone else who said DJ Vibe outdid C&C musically. I hope to see him back in Toronto sometime sooner than 2 years.
As for the crowd, I would have to agree with what everyone else has said. Although, I do believe that the crowd got a little better as the night progressed. To be honest though, the crowd really didn't affect my night negatively. We had such a great crew out. I remember at one point towards the end of the night where there were about 10 of us just ripping it up on the dancefloor. Everyone around us was watching us with their jaws on the floor. This was the highlight of my night. We really have some great dancers in our group.
THANK YOU Carey for bringing DJ Vibe back to Toronto.

It's officially Monday and let's see if I can string out a few sentences.
LOL For the record, I personally had a better time at this party than Steve Lawler's the next night at the Guv. However, Lawler owned his crowd compared to DJ Vibe at SONIC. This makes a HUGE, HUGE difference if the crowd is at ONE with the DJ...
Anyway, I believe my expectations were simply too high for Antonio "To" Pereira to live up to. My entire goal throughout the whole night was to find out exactly why for so long people called this man "The Magician". I was totally waiting for this mortal to become a GOD on the decks and take me on a magical journey. It didn't happen, but I definitely went somewhere. My question is that I simply do not know where exactly...
My realization is that you can not reach enlightenment when you are searching for it. PERIOD!!!
For the last couple of months I convinced myself that DJ Vibe was going to be "chosen one" and my own Personal Jesus. In my mind, my hopes and aspirations for Portugal's beloved DJ would turn him into a dirty, dark tribal shaman for me. I brainwashed myself into believing he was going to take me on a vision quest like at a sweatlodge. I was truly hoping to learn more things about myself through his music and find myself. LOL Anyway, I didn't use peyote like what Native People use for these rituals, but I substituted other fun substances for the night.
Anyway, I consider myself a very open minded person. Every DJ has an off night and I'm always willing to give anyone another chance. Perhaps, sometime in the future I'll venture to STEREO for one of his residency nights in Montreal. Who knows?
I'm going to bold enough to say it here. I would fucken love to see DJ Vibe again. But, next time I wanna see him at the Guv/KoolHaus complex...hahaha
The bigger venues add pressure on the DJ at large. Sometimes, in fact trainwrecks happen for these type of DJ's. However, I believe DJ Vibe would feed off a crowd that's willing to take a chance on his journey. He's the type of DJ that would live and breathe grace under presure. Like somebody else wrote, they felt Vibe was holding back. He's your true archetypical Hemingway Hero. At SONIC he definitely wanted to take you on a ride to pure bliss, but he personally couldn't feel the vibe there. It's very sad when DJ Vibe can not feel the vibe himself because of the crowd. Timing in life is absolutely everything!!!
It's all about taking a chance and walking into the unknown...
^^^^^^^^^^^----- absolutely outstanding commentary/review. ^5
Once my CPU (neural-net processor) reboots I'll have a review.
