bro a lot of you mention a lot of house DJs because that is what suits you which is fine but we mention the trance acts that suit US so why bash? fuckin' ay.

perhaps many people wouldn't show up to Signum but WHO knows? Most of the fuking people that go to Space on a TIESTO or PVD nite don't even know who is playing.
People will go to Space because it's SPACE plain & simple...I can honestly bet if Signum brings a crowd, just because those people wanna go party on a Friday or Saturday nite, that main room will stay crowded.

the only way to find out is to ACTUALLY bring them.

where was i bashing anyone? seriously, point it out for me. i am simply being realistic. if you are not a big name jock in the trance genre your not going to draw a crowd at space. that doesnt mean they suck, its just the reality. hell the time armin came in oct i didnt think it was that crowded, sparse at best. and just because people go to space doesnt mean they will stay. classic example G&D, cleared the dance floor faster than a bomb threat at LAX. if space was a smaller venue than they probably could turn a profit, but its a pretty big club. and not just any dj can work that mainroom.

the reason why they dont bring in those trance djs mentioned above by liquidx and misterben is because, a few years back trance was the hot thing, ie trendy, in miami. its not the hot, trendy thing anymore, ergo, no more of those djs. miami is all about trends, and trance aint it no more. not to mention it can be argued the quality of sound back then was much better also. and the predominant form of edm in america, is and always has been house. this isnt northern europe.

lastly space is not going to just "take a chance and find out" on any of these djs. they run a business first and foremost and are in this to make $$$$$. thats it. and they bring in sander, DD, PVD, Morillo, etc, because those guys draw big crowds. its not a complex formula. i agree with you guys, the lack of variety sucks. but at the same time we are much luckier than most major cities in the US, really think about that.

liquid's idea about pairing some of these trance djs with the local residents, might not be a bad compromise, and wouldnt defer as much of a risk if they were promoted alone. thats definetly a viable option. seriously i would love to see some of those names come to space, but im a realist. hopefully something can be worked out and everyone is happy.

I wasn't saying you were bashing & I agree with you they do have to think about money but he has a lot of it & trying stuff out for one nite isn't going to put any of his earnings in a deficit.

What Felipe said was a good idea & that is an approach that can easily work out & if the people are digging the new talent then I'm sure club owners will realize that.

But you have to admit it gets tiring to have the same DJs come over & over. Space used to have more of a variety & now it's down to the same shit.

We ARE super lucky here in Miami but damn it doesn't hurt to try something new out.

This is very, very true. I'll never forget this one incident on 5/30/03, @ Space 34. Tisto was playing, and I was in the crowd with Faith, when this dude next to me yells, "Paul van Dyk!!!" And I was sure the song playing wasn't a PVD tune. Was just another clueless slag. I looked at him and literally gave him a look.

Thats true, but trying new things cost money.. Lets face it the trance scene in miami isnt what it is in Europe. People in miami demand more house .....But regardless many of the great dj's people mentioned if space were to book 2,3,or 4 in the same night it still will not sell-out. So these new thing can be costly and they might not meet there margins in bringing them. Thats true PVD And Tiesto can sell out space..But what other Solo dj can do that or what 2/3 combination can?

Posted by LiquidX on Jun-21-2006 19:19:

why not look @ the WMC list that Space layed out and spread that out throughout the year?!?! I know most of the crowd that goes to any of those given nights are outsiders, but pairing them up with the residents sounds duable.. no?

Posted by LiquidX on Jun-21-2006 19:21:

.. and I have to agrew with the Shadow Lounge reunion.. will this ever happen again?!?! definetly a memorable night.

Ohhh man, that was one of the best nights I've ever had at Space. Last thing I heard was they wanna do it once a year around the same time. Let's hope they do

Hell yea definetly a great night...What was the date on this last year...What is it in December?

Posted by SoBe Poker on Jun-21-2006 21:13:

My choices would be: Above and Beyond, Gabriel and Dresden, BT, Mylo and Junkie XL. I totally agree with David Guetta, but they have to advertise it as a Terrace Set, and expect a big crow for the Terrace not the main floor.

I too question how much a club the size of Space can experiment. Don't they own Suite? Why not experiment there, but with advertising ($$$).

Its interesting. I remember looking back at the list of DJ's that Space would bring back in the days... the list of resident DJ's was inmense ( meaning they would come to Space in a regular annual basis ).

Who remembers TALL PAUL? SCOTT BOND? JOHN KELLY?? All this DJ's would come regularly and would lay out some mint sets ( according to friends who were there I missed out cause of age ).. but today its just the same old Sander, PvD, Sanchez, Morillo, Ferry and now Armin added to the circular list.. WTF... what happened to the varied sounds they would bring such as those?? Gatecrasher would host parties @ space, and what-not.

It definetly wouldnt hurt to bring any of those DJ's together with the local residents that Space already has.. they dont charge humongous pricing and with the right marketing it would really be something.

I agree with bunch of the names Flo said.. JunkieXL, Sasha, varied sounds.. try to have any of the trance DJ's open up the big name trance dj;s when they come ( but then we would have to pay the price to displace the local ones such as Edgar ).. It aint easy and for space to risk one night for someone who nobody knows its pointless. But if they try, then I'll b there, just good luck!
You going X ?

I've seen both Johan Gielen and Judge Jules once and they tore it up. I really like their energy level when they're spinning. Think they should bring these guys back. Of course I'm biased cuz I like High Energy Hard Core Trance!! I would also like to see Suzy Solar cuz I can't get enough of her. She also brings lots of energy.

As far as local talent to open up, I like Gerry Cueto, Relik, and Groove Eric. They all play good trance sets based on the stuff I've heard so far!!

LP owns space, suite and spirits in the hardrock

I'd really like to see Giuseppe Ottaviani come down! Not that it will happen but he will BLOOOOOOOOOOW a PvD nite away

I've heard his SET alone and it was ENERGY ENERGY ENERGY all the way through...5 redlines & 3 redbulls later kinda thing.

Marc van Linden would be nice too.

w/e I'm gonna concentrate on saving to travel to see this kind of talent cuz it sure won't happen down here, oh well nothing we can do about it.

he should play with pvd this friday. that would rock

This is a valid post by Renzo. Space is first and foremost a business. Therefore in order to book a DJ, pay for his flight from Eurpe or wherever, and also his booking fee, they have to know or at least feel that people would show up. A perfect analogy is that you would not open a restaurant to sell food no one wants to eat.

With that said, there are a lot of great trance DJs, some well known and some lesser known that I would definitely spend my money to see at Space. Some examples are Above & Beyond, Blank & Jones, Cosmic Gate, Marco V, Giuseppe Ottaviana (of NU NRG), Kyau vs. Albert, Rank 1, John Askew, Sander Van Doorn, Sean Tyas, Thrillseekers, Mark Norman, M.I.K.E., Marcel Woods, Martin Roth, and Ferry Corsten (I know they used to bring him alot - but fans like me miss his sets).

I can only speak for myself, but can say that the sets I've heard either live or recorded from each of those DJs are on par with those of the top DJs that are ongoing regulars at Space. Therefore if people would show up, they would enjoy themselves. The problem I see is that many people (outside of forums like this one) do not even know any trance DJs other than Tiesto or PVD. They need to be educated and open-minded. That is where good promotions and word of mouth come in.

Some non-trance DJs are worth noting as bookable: Chris Liebing, Mauro Picotto, Carl Cox, and Donald Glaude. Liebing and Picotto have destroyed Space before, Cox is the most energetic DJ anyone will ever see, and Glaude has torn down Crobar each time he plays there. Even if you are primarily a trance fan like me, I think you would enjoy any one of these guys at Space.

space needs to really start recording live sets every once in a while. That pvd set last week was priceless and its gone with the wind(except in my head)
