So you don't like her because you think she is overrated?
That is like me HATING tiesto because I think he's an over hyped up DJ...however, I don't HATE him, in fact I have to respect him for the way he has used media and marketing to push himself to the top.

I just don't understand why people get SO worked up because she gets publicity...it is like her being in a photo is drastically affecting their life. get over it.

No, its not that i don't like her because she is popular and over-rated... i don't like her because she ISN'T EVEN GOOD and yet STILL popular and over-rated...
if she was actually musically creative and talented... i probably just wouldn't really care... but the fact that she is just not good at all and yet still the most popular pop figure really makes me dislike her...
as for tiesto... i could care less if he is popular and over-rated.. Trance Energy 2000 is still probably the greatest set i have ever heard, Lethal industry and MindCircus are two of my favourite all time tracks... fact of the matter is... Tiesto is GOOD.. he deserves to be popular and over rated.. he's had his struggles as a Dj and all his hard work paid off and now he is on top on the world.. i say good for him!
Britney spears however was picked out of a bunch of teens.. gets her songs written for her and all she has to do is sit there and look cute while sound editors made her voice good... and what the came up with wasn't even that good anyway

As a DJ i wonder what the hell he gets paid so much for when he mixes a record every 7 minutes and then bounces up and down the rest of the time.

It's all a matter of perspective - which is why I don't let myself get worked up because so many other people like someone or something that I don't.

When he gets ranked #1 DJ in the world, I don't give a shit. I think it's wrong but I don't get all agitated.

Britney has made herself a household name and raked in millions upon millions of dollars doing so. How can anyone fault her for persuing that?

It seems to me that in a world where celebrity relationships come and go every minute and famous people are constantly complaining that they aren't happy Britney Spears may be the one person who's acting with some intelligence.

Even though her career is pretty much at a stand still and her image is nothing what it was she seems to be making decisions based on what she wants, not what pop culture deems would be right for her.

She has the right to marry anyone she wants, have as many kids as she wants and get as fat as she wants, and if that is what is going to make her happy then I say more power to her.

i just saw a thread about her nude pictures, i stated that i don't like her personally but i thought the pictures were very tasteful and beautiful

i have to strongly agree with this. She is probably one of the biggest trend setters, she does w/e she wants and most people copy her. Starting from having back tatoos (tramp stamp) all the way to having kids (at least 10 celebrities decided to have kids after she did).

It's your opinion that you don't think Tiesto is good. Just b/c he's a bit overrated now doesn't mean that his old sets, not to mention the countless number of productions he's made in the past are good. But like you said it's all a matter of perspective.

I think you still missed the point of Nikki's original post though. She didn't make any statements about Britney being overrated or pursing her goals. I mean hell, I may be the worst singer or dancer in the world...but that doesn't necessariliy stop me from PURSUING a career in singing or dancing. What Nikki was saying is that she has no TALENT when it comes to singing...she just plain stinks.

^^ but she's saying she HATES Britney. I think tiesto plain stinks but I certainly don't hate him...

What I'm getting at is that hate requires so much energy, and I just don't know how anyone can hate someone based on something so arbitrary.

Alright, alright. Point taken. I can't speak for Nikki, but for me, when I say I "hate" Britney Spears b/c she can't sing or she's white trash or whatever it may be I don't necessarily truly "hate" that person. It's an over statement and can thus be deceiving. But I guess that's the same as when people through "love" around as well. I tend to say "OMG I love you" when someone does something good for me. Like when Del gave me those tickets to see Ferry in NYC...I'm not in love with Del though!
