M2J's 2 da point review:
CL: his set was up and down for me, some great points, some a bit boring. but the psy/goa parts were amazing.
MS: one of the best trance sets i've heard in a loooooong time. In all honesty I wasn't expecting much... I had give up on markus nearly a year back based on 4-5 GDJB episodes in a row that just blew, but man, he totally redeemed himself last night.
SS: they were not bad, but I gotta say, the vocals were totally off. I'm no expert in singing, but I think the singer really needs to practice/get some training.
JG: started off rough, but built up to a terrific end. at the start he kept making his live CDJ break down and continually interrupting the beat for dancing. luckly as the set went on he did that far less often.
It was great seeing everyone again. And a huge thanks to Tyler for an amazing night; its always a pleasure partying with you bro.
back in NYC...just got back from toronto...
TRIP: RETURN to the GUV/KH (since Labour of Love 2004)
Time of Return: 1:24am
Length of Drive: left Saturday at 1pm, got stuck on the QEW in Toronto for 2 hours, got to the border close to 5pm...then finally got back at 1am after dropping ppl off in North Jersey...
Rating of Trip: Overall good, some setbacks and always a bit of drama whenever i go up to Toronto
but that's another story
too tired to write a *full* review of the the entire trip. Most likely I'll leave that to Robdawg (if he hasn't already written it already) Suffice to say, GUV/KH has NEVER disappointed me, no matter who's there. Like tatgirl said, it was enough to have that lineup that night...Christopher Lawrence wilded out with his set and got me st0mping even though my ankle was hurting... Markus was def ON POINT...much better here than he had been at Spirit last week...Second Sun was ENERGETIC, n I love them no matter wut -- esp. Antoine, who I had the chance to talk to when I ran into him at the bar later that night...very friendly guy
and Johan threw down some siiiick classics ("Home" was practicaly the FIRST trance song that I was familiar with AFTER being converted by Oakenfold's Tranceport Album)
awesome seeing tatgirl, illnada and a few others whose names/handles i cant remember now...and *finally* i got to meet the famous JAMIE!!! awesome, and thanks for the beads!
weird moments of the night:
- some crunked/drugged out FAT guy falling into me while I was at the front...I stumbled, Drew pulled me aside as the guy toppled to the floor...then watching Security haul him away on a wheelchair after several attempts
- yeah, asian guy trying to sell a pill VERY openly
the *bad* part of the night, however, came when I *dropped* my phone during Johan's set -- didn't find it, even with the help of a few well-meaning souls.
a tiny SONY ERICSSON w700i (gold)

someone probably picked it up...oh wells
but its not EVEN the fone that I care about at this point...its the PICTURES and VIDEOS that I took!!! so no pictures!!
too bad...cuz i had gotten some realy great videos and also pictures of the TOTAs...im really really really disappointed but oh well...
___________________________________________
I will say this as I've been saying it all these times...GUV and the Toronto scene def provides a vibe that I think NYC has seriously lost...the last few parties ive been to haven't exactly been the best. u TOTAs are definitely know how to have a great time! thanks again for being so welcoming to us. <3
and of course much love to my NYTAS that made the trip up...it was the first time to GUV for all of them except for me and Drew, im just so glad you guys had a KICKASS time.
XOXO
Alyssa
^ Sucks that you lost your W700. Phone just came out recently, so it must have been brand new.

It was awesome to hear Helsinki Scorchin' in a club, although I distinctly remember thinking that he should have lowered the levels a bit - the melody was just too piercing for my ears. My Loving Arms was fucking aweeesome. Been waiting to hear that track in a club, and I was pissed that I missed Tiesto purely because of that track, but Markus came through for me that night. Made my day. And clsing with Traffic, wow. I so did not expect that to be played, but it was awesome still. I |
(well aparently lyss thought he was better, but jeez, the tracklisting from these posts have it almost identical!)
Glad you finally met jamie tho!!!
C.L...Suprised the hell out of me...Such a great guy...
M.S Amazing as usual
S.S Not a big fan but nice guys
J.G His set at the begining was too slow for me, so i left
after a month loong wait for a rave...
Been out for 2 dayz..jus came home... after this loong weekend partay..
Considerin' my first rave after a month... I had a supper blast at da event... the feelin' and the experience was simply unbelievable!! I simply can't describe it in any better words...
Even though, they had two rooms.. it was still an awesome gig... Schulz was throwin' down tunes after tunes... fukin' awesome shyt he was playin.... I think he should've played longer...Second Sun were off the hook as they were in US9... they really hyped up the crowd!
Johan the MAN of the nite... played some really nice and HARD trance.... though, he didn't play alot of classics... like I thought he would.. he still did an awesome job..>>TWISTED<<... ahh well.. nex time!
Johan, Hard Trance? You're off your rocker, lol.
WOOOOOOOO Oh man I had the time of like at the Kool Haus. Damn you guys have a 10000x better vibe than we do in NY. Everyone in that club was just going nuts, having a good time, NY is so fucking tense. I'm so jealous.
Anyways... Was there all night, one of the first people in, literally the last one to leave.
Mark Oliver played a great warm up set. Perfect mixing, some fun tunes, he did a great job.
DAAAAMN! Is all I can say for Christopher Lawrence. I saw him a couple years ago in NY and he played his boring housey, I dunno what to call it music, but I hated it. I never expect him to throw down hard! That shit was nuts!! He was trainwrecking all over the fucking place though. One time he just stood there, and the two tracks were clunk-clunk'ing all over the place, I wonder if he even noticed. Other than that daaaaaamn what a track selection. Talked to him after, really cool guy.
Second Sun was great, I was mingling through most of thier set so I didn't get hear a lot of it.
Markus fucking rocks! I've never talked to him before this party, what a cool ass guy. Super friendly, funny as hell. I'm so mad, before his set I asked him to play Without You Near, I die for that song. He was like yeah definately! So I stepped outside for like 10 minutes to smoke a cigarette, and I when I came back in I could hear another song mixing into the outro, I was so mad hahah.
JOHAN!!! WOOOOOO My man really blew the roof off that place. My favorite DJ in the world. He played some hot ass tracks! I got my copy of Revelations signed YAY! Talked to him for a few minutes afterwards, but the security guards were bring pricks. Hahah Johan put of 'em in his place proper!
Nice to meet all the TOTA's you guys are cool as shit. I had a blast, wish I was still there! See some of you at WEMF!!!
edit: ROFLMAO @ the pill guy!

Haven't seen him since TE '06 so it's been a while.
Markus played Without You Near? I don't remember that...
finally got sleep after being up for like 2 days straight!
I came up with the NyTa's it was the 1st time for most of us @ Kool Haus. All i can say is WOW. the scene and vibe is soo much better than nyc. (the scene over here has been terrible for a long time) i seriously dont want to party in ny anymore after that night lol. I went not knowing one TOTA at all, and somehow managed to meet like 15 lol. We appreciate everyone being soo friendly to us. Only problem is i can barely recall anyones name, im soo bad with that.
Jem_harder (jamie)
fahad.. i think
Daniel...?
MOnica.. am i making this up? haha
Cuzo
Swamper
Nadia and the other TOTA hotties around her lol.
guy with curly black hair? blue shirt
and of course Natalie, your soo sweet, thnx for chiln with me
As for the music,
mark oliver: was pretty good warmed the crowd up.
I think CL. started a lil too hard at first, he train wrecked immediately lol but didn't bother me really., but i deffinately enjoyed his set, i think he should have been before Johan in the lineup.
- I saw markus in nyc last week and he was ok thenm but he deffinately changed his style from what he used to be a few months ago. His set at KH was deffinately better than nyc tho. he has been playing old songs now every since he is changing wtf.
-Second Sun. ugh i hate that song this is not miami. The rest of the set i enjoyed tho, it was different from what i expected.
-Johan: 1st time see'n him and i thought he was amazing, he was mixing pretty good and doing things besides just mixing track to track deffinately a plus.
anyone else that i forgot sry, but thnx for the crazy night TOTA's
I can't wait to comeback for LOL'06
BTW: I was the one in baby blue shirt, buzzed head, being crazy lol

Yowzas!! I had such a great time, so glad I decided to go... Arrived around 12 pipteen or so, and Chris Lawrence was up... enjoyed his set, it got me groovin proppa like... Met up with Final GTS et al around 1am...
Markus Schulz kicked it into high gear for me,,, could not believe the bombs he dropped... bomb after bomb,,, Very coincidentally, Final GTS and myself were talking about when he saw Infected Mushroom, and they played Air For Life,,, not pipteen minutes later ---- BOO YA!! Schulz blindsides us with it,,, Sweet remix to hear in the club atmosphere...
Second Sun "Rocked!" For me it wasn't what they played, but their interaction with the crowd,,, I was up front and they were really rockin out... I agree that the voice was off a bit, but that could be due to a number of factors... It is always good to see the performer(s) having as good a time as you...
Johan, Johan, Johan,,, Could you make me dance anymore??? I think not,,, everytime I sat down to chat I found I would excuse myself to get up and dance... All I wish is that I knew how to make time stand still,,, because Johan's set flew by...
Through the am, I bumped into many t/a's,,, my apologies for not being able to remember your names... Hope you all enjoyed the party...
My only regret was forgetting that the Orange room had Sydney and Greg Gow,,, ooops!! I guess that's what happens when the trance is in your pants!!
By far the BEST part of the party was the room to groove,,, still enough peeps for the atmosphere, but TONS 'O' ROOM to jammy jam jam!!
Now with the vids:
Note: I was not on my "video recording game",,, sooooo you might feel a little seasick watching these!! (lol, was that a liability clause??)
Also, I tried the finger over the speaker to reduce the bass level,,, can't really tell if it made a difference...
Here goes::
Chris Lawrence - id track - 1 min 12 secs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHvnQ4D4pLs
Markus Schulz - Helsinki Scorchin' (Dammit I love this tune!!) - 6 mins 8 secs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TG3edkseGw
Markus Schulz - Air For Life (The O MY GOD Remix - lmao - 5 seconds in thats me breaking down with the "OMG") - 7 mins 46 secs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbaPGl4Btcg
Second Sun - Thunderstruck - 2 mins 55 secs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk0bP-rwA6k
A special treat for y'all... what a sweet morning to be driving home into the sun after a kickass night,,, passing the O-Dots and saying out loud, "stay there copper, stay there," while gently applying the brakes!! - 6 mins 19 secs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8NGJrBrRoU
Pics coming shortly...
My last 2 vids are not working for some reason, I've tried multiple times to fix em, but no luck,,, will let you cats knwo when they are fixed!!
~peace
oh yeah,,, I got propositioned by the asian dude with the pill in his hand as well,,, crazy shiiiit!!

PLEASE PLEASE post!!
thx im still SOOOO sad i lost my fone and pics/memories of that night...
I had a great night. It started off with a bang (i.e. ducking for my life from fireworks i.e. cam's pre-party) Honestly best start of the night ever! Jammed 5 people in a 4 person SUV.. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CALL THAT A SUV... hahah
All the DJ's were great.. they all had there ups and downs. but that's life.. Christopher Lawrence and markus schulz had me on my feet right off the start.. Second suns timeslot was the absolute perfect nap time.. So i napped through the stangling cat and the muddy bass lines, but i caught enough to say that Second sun is horrible.. They are the greatest nicest guys, but i'd never pay to go see them.
Johan was 100% better than his previous visit to the Guv complex, He looked way happier too.. and you can tell by his set he was having fun. not sure when he got off the decks, cause CAM got kicked out right at the start of our 3rd doobie.. Damn you security, at least wait for us to get a few tokes in.. damn. My guess he would be done his set at 6:58.
all in all. great night, didn't have to drive for a change, so i got absolutely hammered. Had a 5 min. conversation with jojo's sister, I have no clue what she said.. hahah..
oh well..
