I never really use an "intro" tune, though often I'll play a few Ambient or Chillout/Downtempo tunes at the beginning of a set.
For Goa:
Filteria - Operation Pulse
Vibrasphere - Floating Free
Albert Vorne - Formentera (Gareth Emery Remix)
And others I really can't think of right now.
Once I used Re:Locate vs Jonas Steur - Nasty as an intro for a banging set, it worked perfectly
Gave the people what they wanted, BANG BANG BANG!
Vibrasphere - Yaku (outtro)
Using that as an intro to an ambient techno type mix atm. Works well.
Matthew Dekay - Blue Monday

Works nicely over incoming beats and I also flick reverse back and fourth so the chant becomes more rythmically matched. I also use the intro from Planet Rock - Afrka Bambaataa. I stick a loop on the yeaaaaaah phrase and let the beats kick in, and filter it like crazy with delay etc. This works nicely, but really only good for the first time you play at a club, gets boring if you do it too often. Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms (Markus Schulz & Elevation Intro Edit)
absolute choonage

It all depends on the set.
Some sets and crowds you just start right away.

| Originally posted by Stu Cox I think that only really works if you're the headliner and you've got quite a long set... at the other end of the scale I've seen the 2nd DJ on a lineup using 10 a minute intro for an hour-long set - silly bugger! |
Opening your set with Beroshima - Horizon (Pig & Dan Remix) will get you an automatic lay that night.
Jose Amnesia - The Eternal (Pulser remix) or (Sunrise mix)
Solar Stone - Seven Cities (Armin Van Buuren Vocal mix)
Cape Town - Proglifter Original Mix
I find my own
The intro version of Sultan & Tommyboy - You make me feel extacy is a really dark and effective start, if you want that..
Orbital - Halcyon + on + on, we all know works like a charm.
Santos - Camels. Quite odd, but nevertheless.. It will get people moving.
For a trancier start, Nalin & Kane - Open your eyes.
