I dont think an isratrance poll is really indicative of where israeli full on is at. Prog is extremely popular now since its a lot more accessable than psytrance, I'd say that is the contributing factor more than anything else.

Also, Israel in particular is dominated by psytrance from all indications. Commercialisation of the music is bound to creep in at some point. My point was that just because theres an emerging "Killah!!" genre of psytrance in Israel (Skazi, uh... etc, etc..), that isnt a real indication of what good full on is. Also, I think its because peoples initial exposure to psy is generally limited to the more commercial side of it that they get this assumption.

Considering this thread is about iraeli psy, I'll mention a few artists I consider to be pretty much up there in terms of releases. All full on and all israeli.

I'd have to agree, I have listened to a lot of prog psy lately and I do like it, being the combination of two of my favourite genres it's no surprise. However good it is though it doesn't quite hit the qualities of both parents and I feel it has ended up falling short of it's true worth. Perhaps in the future the releases will start to go in a direction that really shows off what this music should be capable of.

Vibrasphere and Wizzy Noise for example would be losely classified as prog/psy I suppose. I really enjoy their music but ultimately they end up sounding like trance of the 96/97 variety, thats right:

Psychadelic + Progressive = Plain old Trance

OK not all the time, but many of the structures are the same and it always amuses me to see things move in circles.

edit : if that makes no sense it's because I'm drunk

Or: psychedelic + progressive = progressive with other instruments.
The sound looses its psy element when it goes progressive. The same like oldshool trance lost its trance element when it went to anthems.
