I find it insulting that I get all sorts of ignorant "you're a gino" comments, since even if I was, what would that matter on how i judge music?

I've had fun nights seeing Armin, Tiesto, Rank1, Ferry, Nick Warren, Digweed, and many many other dj's. ATB was just terrible in my opinion.

And I love melodic trance, just so you know. It just seemed to me like 80% of his set was pulled off the b-list.

The only tracks that stuck out were:

"linking people together"
"hold you" (at this point i thought the set was going to pick up, but it didn't)
"can't sleep" (atb mix)

however, i was completely sober, and went to listen to atb as i love his production, and was sorely disappointed.

i however am happy that you went out there, got fucked on E (or what you thought was E) and had a great time.

Dude I don't know what your problem with E is. The fact is that E is always there when it comes to these events. I don't know if you DJ or not but you seem like a dude that fallows this type of music so you should know better. Trance + E = State of Trance. I bet that 80 % of people there were fucked on E and the 15 % plain out drunk...5% maybe the sober troopers. If you take E it doesn't mean that w/e the Dj throws at you you will enjoy (I do want to say this if you do it, do it reasonably don't pop 3 pills and spaz on the floor I hate that crap, just like if you drink, drink within your limits). You think that Dj's don't know that E pretty writes their cheques, but that doesn't mean they just fuckin throw out any random b/s. Hey I'll admit I do it sometimes, but I don't do it so crappy music is more enjoyabl...I do cuz it gets me going and so I can friggen dance for 6-7 hours, gives no hangovers and is 10 times cheaper then drinkin, yes it makes the music more enjoyable but only if its good music.

SunBunny makes a valid point though. Whatever. Just leave it be.

Bring on more reviews!

Dude...were we at the same party??? or were under a very large dose of "something" because ATB and the word GOOD can NOT go together in the same sentence...nor can ATB with the name Armin...ATB's set was melow with no flow...he just spun popular tracks without an end or beginning, all vocals...Mark Oliver owned him, no doubt about it! ATB sucked my friend...and he was never good, just popular since his music is aired by every station because even NON trance lovers can relate to it since its EURO not even trance...WEAK SET! WEAK DJ! WEAK RUDE STONNED ASIAN CROWD 4 the main room @ the Guv!

that is the most melodic set anyone is going to get this whole year with the exception of possibly MO's 'the gift!!!' i definately got my melodic trance fix last night, ATB was amazing, great tunes from start to finish including a lot of his own material. I'm amazed how many ppl left so early. I left around 3:45 since my gf had to work at 10, but so wish i coulda stayed much later, MO was delivering when ATB came off. My only request would of been for ATB to of spun a longer set. I definately can't wait til hes back.

I'll put together a bit of a Tracklist:

ATB - Ecstasy
ATB - Hold You
ATB - Let U Go
ATB - Marrakesh (mashed with a sample from 9pm til i come crowd went wild)

Kyau vs. Albert - kiksu
Jonas Steur - Silent Waves
Brian Adams - Don't give up (Chicane Remix)
Smith & Pledger - White
Above & Beyond - Can't Sleep (ATB Remix)
Guisseppe Ottaviani - Linking People

thats all i can think of right now...MO also dropped 'open your eyes' and 'cafe del mar' immediatly following his set, it was to bad i had to leave right after cafe del mar.

I loved how ATB and the crowd were so into it. The crowd was going crazier then for Armin on Wednesday. I definatley look forward to ATB's return!

ATB was terrible, zero mixing skills or buildup for that matter, and he was clearly fucked up on something aswell.

and for the record, i would have had a much better time if dj Danny D was up there mixing, since ANYONE would've been better than ATB.

WTF stupid, I was completely sober and so were all the people we went with, the trance was with pure sick tracks, so I donno, if you're into house or whatnot thats your disease, no need to share anything more with your e assumptions
Edit:
I respect your opinion but why are you bashing people that do e or e itself. More pointless than dead baby jokes, if you dont do it dont and dont assume that if they weren't on e they wouldnt have enjoyed it.

First time seeing both and I was impressed by both. I've seen Armin and Tiesto and I can say this ATB got me moving more the either of em (dunno if it was the overall vibe of the guv). Maybe you are right that it was due to the selection of popular tracks...but hey what ever works to get the crowd going right ? And please you don't become the #9 DJ in the world by not being good. People please stop this shit...just like all the TIESTO bashers...deal with it these guys are good if they sucked so much no one would listen to them and come see them. And to become popular you gotta have something good to offer at first. Anywho I think if ATB had a longer set it would of been better put together, for all you analysts, although I had no problems with it and so did 98% of the other people here I think it was awesome. Yeah the Asian crowd was big and high but I wouldn't say they were rude since they all just stand and hug each other...who is rude are those idiots walking through the middle of the dance floor like they own the place not even saying sorry when they bump into you (try walking around the sides next time who ever you are)

Posted by Engine9 on Jul-10-2006 02:55:

wow what a great night
got in at about 2, probably a couple mins into ATB's set. As expected guv was packed and hot to the max. ALso since we got in after 2 we JUST missed last call, and oh i really wanted that BEEEEEEEEEEEER. We moved to the front, it was less packed there, stayed there all night.

great time!!

TRANCE IS ALIVE AND WELL, only when djs play it PROPER. Last night was a prime example soooo many sick tunes, ATB didnt disappoint and MO was a great finish.

Makarech, Love Theme Dusk and more sick songs =) im glad i came

As for the asian crowd.... that's never gonna change. My all time favourite tho is still the Asian chicks sleeping/leaning against each other, sitting in front of a pulsating speaker. Haha priceless. I wish I still had that pic.

Posted by LOT2005 on Jul-10-2006 03:12:

Ok, since this is your first time at the Guv, you clearly have not yet had your share of bad experiences with the asian crowd. I myself had plenty last night and nights before so im not even going to go there...not to mention the fact that you can not have a good crowd when the crowd is made up of STONNED ASIANS who just stand there like ZOMBIES with no reaction to the music! Now...you are saying that whoever is popular is good? i fully disagree with that. Being popular doesnt not automaticaly qualify as GOOD! (look at Anna Kournikova for example...) Mark Oliver, canadian DJ, resident at the Guv..ranked 200+ something OWNED ATB. His set was energetic and diverse! Thumbs up 4 MO! so that's another proof that those ranking dont mean anything! Anyways, glad you had a good time and enjoyed the music. I myself think ATB was more then just weak with a very borring set with all songs following the same line.

This always happens in review threads. It never fails. I just laugh at it now and barely posts reviews for this reason only. Everyone always has something to say about another's review.

Where is that LAME photochop of d!abolic?? This thread needs some of that!!!

i was sober the whole night and i've been in the trance scene for many years now and have seen most of the big names numerous times. since when is playing all the hits a bad thing? i hate how everyone always has to be all cool and 'underground' its just as pathetic as ppl wanting to be 'gangsta' in the hip hop scene. I love a good progressive house set like the next person, but its such a rarity to get a set like this and i cherrished every minute of it!

i wouldn't say atb is euro.. but 85% of his set was b-list cheesy celine dion vocal euro shit, so ummm.. what would you call him then?

all he needed to play was that "i need a miracle, i wanna be your girl" track and he would've had a solid euro set lol.
