No offence to anyone, and jason you know i love you BUT... starsearcher (interesting username btw) is right. Not only France defeated harder teams (Spain beats Ukraine by 4 goals, So France beating Spain must mean something already) France played WAY better throughout the game by actually going forward and trying to score a goal, that's what it's all about... it's not about having 10 players defending the goalie (to anyone who missed my point - that was Italy's "straegy"). I think it was a very lame game after both teams scored goals. Thanks to Zidane for spicing it up..

And I hate how everyone claims it was 5-3 because France didn't even get a chance to score a 4th one - not that it would have mattered... but still

-France had an easier group stage (Togo, Switzerland) yet they barely made it through

-Italy domianted the first half of the final

-Italy allowed only TWO GOALS the entire tournament (an own goal, and a cheap penalty)

Yeah they also barely qualified to the world cup to begin with - regardless of the fact they went through more difficult teams to the final

I think it was about 50-50...Italy was hoping for the quick goal and they definitely dominated set pieces and corners

just proves her point of the Italian "strategy"

Did I say it wasn't victorious? I was defending chikaladka's point

Switzerland had no goals scored on them at all and lost to Ukraine on penalties...so what?!

...and then there is the fact that I just love the sport of soccer and specifically think Zidane is the greatest soccer player I will see in my life time.

I could give a rats ass about Materazzi, but regardless of all of those facts I still know that Zidane lost his cool, and acted like an animal, a ram to be exact and it could have cost his team the goal.

Your mindless attempt to hide behind a flurry of people who beleive that France was teh better team doesn't phase me, the reality of the sport is that beyond skill is strategy, and Italy won based upon teh combination of both.

The flag under my sig, could be both German and Italian, which renders your 'point' void. I wanted one of those teams to win, and if France won, then I would be happy to see Zidane exit a champion, he exited as a disgrace....a choice he made.
