That's pretty goddamn disgusting, thank god I didn't see that part of the night. What's next? 2Pac's Slammin' Hard Tech Dub?

Digweed also put on a great show and dominated his stage hands down. It was crazy to hear (Chris Lake - Changes) by both him and JZ. Guess that happens all the time

Totally agree with you on that one... my highlights of the night were Mista Christopha and Digweed... hell, I never thought I'd be dancin' my ass off to Digweed like that! Or to CL!! Daayammn!

Dunno how the event was and haven't read any reviews, but being in SoCal myself that night I was only wondering one thing...

"It's 10:00pm and lightning is lighting up the sky everywhere. And it's raining in different parts. Wonder if that's safe for Giant Village considering it was supposedly cancelled for weather that wasn't even around that night. :-p"

Lighting was very pretty I must say....reminded me of Florida.

Yeah, what's up with these schlubs

Giant Village was great. I'd never been before and loved the downtown setting. Zabs & Diggers were awesome (between their sets I was boozing and then stood in that long bathroom line). Nice to party with all the TAs, some of which I met for the first time (Sarah, Julia & Anna?, GPC, Bas, Tigo, Thrax, Ivanbee, PIG, mo in japan, Tia, Hotdogwater, and anyone else I forgot).

I understand your frustration about new years eve, but in all honesty (and this might be your affiliation with spundae) you cannot seem to get over the mishap of that evening...

I Don't mean to talk trash or start an argument, but there is a camp of people, not more than two or three on this online community, but there is a group of people in general who when are around individuals discussing Giant or Giant Village say things like "Oh, I won't go to Giant Village, it'll just be cancelled like last time." or "F*uck Giant and Dean and all of their ish" etc etc etc - I'm seriously tired of that stupid nonsense - Why would you want to hold a childish grudge about something that happened in the past, when you could just get over it and enjoy the music brought to you by hard working people. Should I be shocked or raise an eyebrow when you (the people in that camp) decide to forgive and forget when say Sasha and Diggers are playing this New Years, or when you show up to the next annual Summer Festival when Giant brings another killer lineup. It reminds me of a field goal kicker. When they make a kick, everyone goes about their conversation because (s)/he did the job they were supposed to do. But ONE game-tosser and the world ends for the poor lad...can we just agree to look to the future instead of unproductively dwelling in a past long-removed. And when I say "you" I don't mean just you Dave lol, this is not something that is against You, it is something that I've had an opinion about for a while.

Love is in the air

What an amazing Night.

My Experince started at 6pm when I went down with Kris to Giant Village.
With everything situated and enevlops in place it was time to walk down to the Hope Stage.
After a quick sound Check the music starts around 7pm but the gates do no open untill 8pm. A great idea so no one walks in to a musical event with out Music. Since it is early Kris and I walk around and run in to Sebby and get on the Farris Wheel. There was no line so we got right on
After a quick ride it was time to check out the other stages at the event. It was still early so all the opening acts where on. I was suprized from stage to stage you could not hear the other stages. The only time it got messy was right in the middle of the event.
The one Dj that caught my ears the most was the guy who opend up the commnity service stage. I really like the tracks he was playing. But I went back and forth from the hope stage to the community service stage.

At 9pm it was off to get Boris MD and the rest of the Departure crew and head back to the hope stage. The first Track Boris layed down was so sexy! The whole event did not start untill after 10pm so a lot of people where not there yet to enjoy the set. At around 10:30 it was time to Get Matthew Dekay and head back to the hope stage. The crowd picked up a lot and seemed to be enjoying Boris. When Matthew Dekay gets on the decks he rips the stage a new one. He gets better and better every time. The whole street was dancing at this point. Regardless of how hot it got it did not matter. Matthew played an awsome set. At around 11:30ish I went over to get Markus.

He starts his set at around 12... and out of all the times I have seen Markus I have never ever heard him play the way he did! WOW! I was compleatly blown away and can not even start to ID most of his set. He played a funky/progressive/electroish/Trance set. His first track was Rank 1 Vs Alex M.O.R.P.H- Life Less Ordinary and track after track he killed it. I was on the street dancing my ass off and going sceaming and yelling. I had so much fun dancing to his set.
Then he droped Dogzilla- With out you(dub) and I went nuts I looked up and I got a little wink and the next track was Air for Life- Markus Schulz remix. I lost it! I LOVE LOVE this Track! \0/ \O/
N&K- Open your eyes(Markus Schulz and Elevation Remix)
K Vs A- Walk Down
Karen Overten- Loving arms( Markus Schulz Elevation Remix)- Last track of the night.
Wow. There was only one track I did not like and that was the dreaded 80's track I hate!
WOW WOW WOW!
The energy from the crowd was amazing. Everyone I saw seemed to having the best time. After Markus C. Lawerance came on. I wanted to experince Giant Village a little bit so Kris and I walked around and ended up back at the hope stage before 4am.

The night was not over yet. After I made sure Lawarance got a cab it was off to Avalon for Afterhours.

When we walked in the vibe was shit. There where a bunch of hip-hop people still there with their attuides. The Serious crackheads where also out.
Swaz-WACK was on and playing the worst crap I ever heard come out of Avalon's speakers. There is no way to decribe what I heard. It was ear screaching awful awful noise. I would have rather heard Mark Sucktuner then that shit. uke: It was hell waiting untill 6. 6 came around and I got asked by a lot of people where Markus was at. I had no idea.. I just wanted him here now so he could save the night.
He walks in to Avalon to a room with distored noise and hardly anyone on the dance floor. The people on the floor where just standing there trying to figure out what was going on or trying to dance to the beat that was kinda sorta there.

Markus takes over the decks at 6:15 and has a really hard task to do. But a half hour into his set the dance floor picks up and people are dancing once again. I get my 3rd wind and Dance My ass off! Hearing Markus on Avalon sound system was amazing. The Dark coldharbour sound is perfect on it. When the bass for loving arms hit it shook your whole body. Markus played yet another amazing set that was diffent then what we heard at GV. I loved every second of it. At 8am they shut him down and it was up to the Spider room for a little bit. The Sun is not your friend at 9am!

After the after party it was time to go to Mikes where I hit the bed and passed out! I was done. My feet where killing me and my hair was so puffy and I think I danced and sweated 5lbs away(well at least I hope I did!

I had such an amazing time at Giant Village and the after party. So far the only things I saw wrong with the event where that there where not enough bathrooms. The line was CRAZY long when I went exploring. The Vip area was WAY to hot! They should have ac and huge fans blowing. But other then that.. it was pretty darn orginized. Everyone I talked to said they got in pretty fast.

I am uploading my picturs now. I will have them up by tonight!

But.. I had to share this one photo I took. It is one of the best shots I have EVER took!

Wowowowowow. One of the best parties Ive ever been to! The vibe...the people....the music....the whole experience was amazing! I got to Giant at about 6PM and started setting up for the madness. At about 8PM everyone starts coming in.

I had a quick shift from 8 to 9 so as soon as I was done...I made my way to the Flower stage to catch the opening of Zabs. I walked around a bit....to soak in the whole experience.

I had another quick shift from 11 - 12 so after that I made my way back to the flower stage for Jimmy Van M. He was setting up Digweed just right....nothing amazing though. Diggers comes on about 30-45 mins later.....and I start losing it. Track after track after track....he was killing me softly LOL. I had a fucking blast. 10/10

All of this wouldnt have been possible if it wasnt for my main man Randy! Thanks again bro

Ohh I almost forgot. It was good to finally meet ivanbee and The Quiz. I had fun hanging out with all the TAs......good to see you again Ken. What was your name again? Dude its Ken......you know....liverpoolken LOL Good times!

The Flower Stage owned all.

Big on running out of water at 2:30am.

Zabs rules. Digweed always brings it.

There isn't more to say...I went home a happy camper at 4.

insert houseadddict's review from page 3 here cause it's pretty much the same. working title : my first festival

flew in from dallas's 109F blaze to find equally-hot weather. hooray. arrived GIANT around 10 and was glad for the VIP. didn't wait more than a few minutes for a drink all night -- a plus, considering we drank the hell out of free fluids. sure it was due to excessive dancing and hotter-than-hades weather that none of us had to see those special bathrooms. rather surprised and unimpressed that the entire venue ran out of water, but at least there was plenty of ice, which melted-down in four minutes flat.

zabiela was the number one must-see, so we started at the flower stage and stomped 'til it ended -- guaranteed, he earned a few more fans due to that set. so much energy and talent, JZ -- NICE WORK! [can't wait for SPACE ibiza!!!]

saw most of hybrid's ridiculousity, save a brief stint with migs [still The Man]. really impressed by hybrid's vibe and heavy tracks. the crowd in that tent was perfectly mental!

no one was overly-interested in seeing him from the get-go, but i had to make a break for oakie when "the world is mine" echoed through the streets. [minor guetta fetishist here ] danced.danced.danced, things started getting blurry [as reflected in my photos], and we immediately returned to hybrid. the saturation's amped-up a bit in the pics below, but for the most part, the second camera used was downright trippy

caught markus schulz's "loving arms" closer and watched a bit of christopher lawrence but was distracted by the lasers, so we jetted. happened to catch TCM going ballistic and shouting random grunts. good stuff...

happily spent the remainder of the night floating between digweed and deep dish -- each time, passing the ferris wheel completely terrified of its speed. repeatedly tried to find ...john... but he was at deep dish each time i was at digweed and vice versa. i can earely make out the first pic to be deep dish and the next three digweed, but hey, the lights were pretty, and the music was gorgeous. an ace night that's going to be hard to top anytime soon.

some of the crew : me+alex, mark, alex+sarah, sarah+me

thanks, los angeles! see you for NYE '07

LOL !!! Some cool pics !!!

Sorry for the late post but I had an amazing time. I can't really explain what happened that night but it was one of the best nights I ever had. Hanging out with a bunch of people (TA and non-TA) and stage-hopping all night completed a wonderful GIANT experience. The highlight for me was when Marcus Schulz played the Nalin & Kane - Open your Eyes Remix. So many memories with that track.

I started the night hanging out with Michelle and Kris as they welcomed me with open arms. We got to go on the ferris wheel, such an underrated ride. I had a blast hanging out with you two at the Hope Stage listening to Departure, Matthew Dekay and Marcus Schulz !!!

Later on I got to hang out with Sara at the Flower Stage listening to Digweed who kicked ass. With Sara, there's no time to stop dancing. Such a party girl. Not to forget, earlier in the night J-Z tore up the dance floor with his unbelieveable mixing. Even Oakenfold played a pretty decent set over at the Grand Stage. I also got to hang out with Julia for a bit towards the end. Such great times hanging out with all of you.

Shout out to all the TA's who were there. You know who you are. You've made it a memorable night. See you around.
