unless you were there you should probably shut up now... you don't know what you're talking about, and people just might start to remember this stupidity next time you have some legitimate beef with something.

Jay, be real...why can't you accept the idea that it was, in fact, way too hot? to the point of it being a safety issue?

Just because everyone was too fucked up to care back when you partied 10 years ago doesn't mean that those parties weren't unsafe either.

I hear what you are saying about heat being the sign of a good party - I have been to those parties and enjoyed them - but this was a step above that.

Posted by Jayx1 on Aug-09-2006 15:58:

LOL i would probably bet there were less fucked up then now..

but the fact is that people used to make the best of everything. I rarely went away from a party bitching about it and if i did it was probably due to personal reasons.

*I* (and my friends) were always sober btw

Posted by Skipper on Aug-09-2006 16:02:

Well, the truth is you can only bet, because you never actually go to these parties that you try to review.

i had fun.

that was my first time @ sonic ... i totally wasnt planning on going but i decided to hit it up last minute and im glad i did. i had never heard farina b4, and i wasnt sure if i would like his sound but im happy to say that i enjoyed the tunes he was playing (for the most part). if anything it made for a nice change of pace from the music i normally rock out. nice consistent chuggy rolling basslines. good shit ...

also i dont think it was rammed AT ALL (compared to other parties ive been to) ... and was it hot? sure. unbearably hot? not for me no.

hopefully they can book some more half decent djs instead of the usual circuit / tribal house djs they book so i can have some more reasons to check this place out.

I seriously think this is what is going on here. Even I (as staff), have been told by these bathroom attendents that I can not fill my water (only happened at the upstairs bathrooms). I told him I worked at the club, and all the sudden I was allowed to go in with it. Downstairs however, the water has always had a cold tap (you just need to turn it on) - and never had any problems.

When the club has extreme heat issues like it did on Sunday, the last thing we want is the club to be is a health hazard. The club wouldn't want to risk patrons health just to make some more profit on bottles of water ESPECIALLY when liquor is being sold.

I've only been to Sonic once, but I noticed that in the girls bathrooms, both upstairs and downstairs only had hot water.

Not being allowed to fill the bottles up period is a little ridiculus though. Isn't there a law against that due to water being shut off at underground raves in the past? As far as I know the clubs are required to provide it's parton's with free tap water...I'm not sure if it is required to be cold (but that would be nice!)

i can think of three off the top of my head that will happen in the next month and a half. i'll update the event listings tonight when i get home

p.s. - another reason it gets so hot in that building is the extreme heat that comes off of those lights (especially the stadium style that completely light up the whole room). we are all aware of the heat, and ventilation is definately on the 'to do list' as far as improving.

Only when the venue has a liquor license. I don't know if a special permit counts.

some great crazy photos, Sarah! I think it's a good thing we don't hang out more because we are trouble!

Anyways, I am so glad I went to this party. I had a great time from the moment walking in (right at the beginning) to the moment walking out (right when the music stopped). That's what I call getting my money's worth.

I think Matt C played an awesome opening set with some great classics thrown in the mix. The decorations were great. Or maybe I haven't seen Sonic in a while and didnt know they added some stuff.

Farina was perfect. Exactly what I wanted to listen too. I knew that the music might be a hit or miss for me but it ended up being a hit. Mario J was the weakest of all the DJs so I spent that time cooling off on the patio. Tristan came out on the patio and said, "He is actually playing good now". So we went to listen and then Tristan says, "Nevermind". Lol!

Nice to see Karlo, and Kat, and nice to meet jpistone (joe, right?).

Jay, Mark and crew, always a pleasure.

Frank, take care of yourself!

Peter, you wild animal, you.

Shiftngears = where did you go to?

And my favorite person of the night = Kenny Glasgow. What a joker. I miss hearing him play. Make him a resident somewhere, please!? It was a nice change from the typical "torana" house.

As for the temperature issue. Yes, I was friggin hot. But when I got too hot, I went outside or to sit down. Just like I would anywhere else. It wasn't packed so you could move around easily.

Long live "West Wing"!

Please be patient with us. We are looking into all of these issues and will comment on them shortly.

^^ See, this is what I like about Sonic. They truly seem to care and want to improve things FOR US.

Fantastic! Impressive (the way it should be done)

That's because a lot of us crash at her place when we party in Montreal.

I have never complained that it was too hot or too packed ever in my life. You can search any review you want. I stayed until the very end at Saunaic and I had a great time. However, when most of the people I go with to a club have to leave because it is too hot (almost to a point of it being unsafe) then there is a problem. If you can't see that there is possibly a difference I don't know what to say.
