But anyhow, to the original point, the world is not more stable today than it ever has been. During the Cold War, despite the tension between the two superpowers, the world experienced slightly more peace. Look at the number of current conflicts with start dates later than 1989 for reference.

In any case, I certainly don't advocate US policy in Iraq. I was against it then, voted against Bush in 2004, and am certainly against it still. But I'm also pragmatic. Simply withdrawing leaves Iraqis in an even worse place than they were under Saddam. US troops are stuck there for now, and the only hope for any change is a slow withdrawal and slow transfer of power back to the hands of the Iraqi people. It breaks my heart to have to say it, but the US needs to stay a little while longer.

I should've been more clear in that post. I am not grouping Japanese Americans with the Japanese IN Japan. I should've made it more clear, sorry. I'm not saying that the interment of JAs was justified, it's just that what rebel9 typed doesn't really make much sense to me, it seems like he's ignoring the other crimes that the japanese people in japan have done.
