DanR, you just bought the new RAZR, basically. Heh.

I still need that damn cable to reflash my phone's software from the T809 to D820 stuff.

Cam, next time you're around, $20 to you.

Heh? HEH? It's not funny!!

But at least I didn't *just* get it. I was probably one of the first to get it after the release in NA. Now everyone is copying me

Somehow I highly doubt this, the phone has been out in the US for some time.

Also I fucking laughed when I saw that Rogers is now offering the Motorola PEBL, which I considered purchasing back in October 2005.

I have the W600I, I know it is a bit old now but U will get it for like 150 and it is a great phone. It has a 1.3 megga pixil digital camra and 256 megs of memory, it is a solid phone, I have dropped mine a lot and it still works

^^^ that unit looks pretty swank, but the fact that it's only tri-band and that keypad kinda turned me off.. wonder how the reception is..

btw. can anyone here tell me what mp3 software the Sony phones use for their mp3 music playback? is it pretty much just drag and drop like to a portable HD instead of that POS iTunes which Motorola uses?

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Sep-09-2006 19:36:

I'm pretty sure with Sony you an just drop the mp3s into the correct folders on the mem card and it will play em.

the vast majority are DRM locked. There are a couple out there that aren't.. but most are. I'm talking about the ones Rogers is currently distributing. If you buy the phone unbranded (not even unlocked) you can play DRMless mp3s.

BTW I picked up the phone a couple days ago... it's amazing.. still wondering whether i should unbrand/unlock it.. don't wanna mess with warranty ?o.O"

how do the Sony phones manage the DRM controls when moving songs to and from the phone ? is there proprietary software you have to use ?

Posted by psychosomatica on Sep-09-2006 20:43:

well i have to correct myself in this case.. it's not even really DRM.. it's DRM mp3s that are downloaded from Rogers.. so there's no moving the mp3s... even if they have drm on your computer.. you HAVE TO download ringtones from rogers.

sorry i actually meant transfer of mp3s for the sake of listening as a portable media player rather than for ringtones. Do the Sony Ericsson players use a drag-and-drop method or is there some 3rd party software needed ?

Nothing beats the Nokia N73

3.2 megapixel camera -- the cameras on these phones are becoming really sweet...

drag and drop (and that goes for any kind of DATA transfer)
