Armin in Windsor

I am glad Windsor is getting some good names....but the problem is...Armin is gonna do a piss poor job! Its a small venue...with people who THINK they know Armin, but in reality have NO IDEA. Granted, SOME, actually know what Armin is capable of doing...but that will NOT be done in Windsor! I guarantee all he is gonna do is throw on a track.......and stick his arms out....and pretend he is flying...thats it...and people @ BBR are gonna go CRAZY for it. SAD!

I KNOW he will do a MUCH better job @ Labour of Love!
...and THATS where I am gonna see him...even though I am from Windsor...the show @ Boom Boom Room is gonna BLOW!

Thats such a dumb thing to say.

hahahha, how do you figure?

last time armin played a small club in the area (dragonly) people were saying it was the best set set they've ever heard from armin...

last time armin played a big room (koolhaus) people were saying it's the worst set they've ever heard from armin...

your comments are nothing short of rediculous.

Posted by JahRastaToo on Aug-31-2006 23:58:

LOL...HOW do I figure?? Well considering that I have been going to Labour of Love for the past 4 years.....considering I have seen Armin Van Buuren in Calgary,AB, Amsterdam, Miami, Chicago, Detroit, ANN ARBOR, Toronto and Montreal...over the past 6 years...gives me a pretty good idea of how he plays...and where he does a good job and where does NOT do a good job. He did a PISS poor job in Calgary, Ann Arbor, and Detroit. AMAZING job in Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Amsterdam, and Miami...tells me that he does a BETTER job where there is a bigger venue, bigger crown and bigger scene. So basing this on 6 years or Armin...I am telling YOU..that he is gonna do a PISS POOR job in Windsor. You are basing your opinion on hearsay...I am basing mine on experience. Anything else to add??

I was by the venue on Monday on unrelated business, and I'm actually quite impressed.. Intimate, but still has a really nice layout!

I might pop by.

Ive seen armin in a number of venues as well and the few times he has been a let down have all come at the guvernment .. not all his sets at the guv but a couple for sure ... so heres an opinion based on experience .. wat now

and for the record, IMO his set at dragonfly was one of the best ever

Posted by JahRastaToo on Sep-01-2006 00:26:

HAHAHA...That was not my intention. I am sure he did a great job @ Dragonfly. Did anybody catch his set @ Bleu Room in Detroit? or The Necto in Ann Arbor?...THEY TOTALLY BLEW! The sets that he threw down in Montreal, Amsterdam, Toronto and Miami....blew me away! I HOPE he does a good job in Windsor, but there isnt much pressure for him to DO that well in Windsor. He KNOWS that the crowd will eat up..and LOVE ANYTHING he plays....cuz he is ARMIN...and he is in WINDSOR...that in itself is the reason he might KICK ASS...but not by his ability to DJ...or play some crazy mixes....but because he is Armin..and he is in Windsor.

Posted by JahRastaToo on Sep-01-2006 00:27:

I agree that he did not do a good job @ Decadance...but I am sure he will do a better job @ labour of love than he will in Windsor. That much I am sure of.

Posted by meg on Sep-01-2006 00:42:

I have seen him both at Bleu and Necto in MI and was not disappointed. However, I was not impressed with Armin at WMC this year in Miami. I too have seen him in a variety of locations over the last 5 years. It's all a matter of opinion. What sucks to one person may be the best night another has ever experienced. I personally, prefer to see him at a more intimate setting, which is why I've decided to go both nights.

Posted by JahRastaToo on Sep-01-2006 01:10:

The reason I thought Armin's sets @ Bleu and Necto SUCKED...cuz he played the same tracks...in the same sequence...and the same mix as he did at some other parties earlier. I know this cuz I was listening to his set Live @ Haarlem on my way to Ann Arbor. It was almost an exact replica of what he played earlier. THATS why I thought his sets in Ann Arbor and Detroit sucked.

Well i'm from windsor and i'm going to both his Windsor show and Labour of Love because i support him as a DJ.. regardless of the Boom Boom being a small venue...
I have seen Armin lots of times and he plays for the fans...so who cares if he is going to just 'throw on a track and stick his arms out'.. its going to be a good time with good beats from a great DJ in an intimate setting... i can't think of anything better then that...
I went to go see Deep Dish when it was the Boom Boom venue.. and i have to tell you that night was one of my best parties.. the beats were hard and dirty and there was room to dance and enjoy myself...
you have every right to your opinion... but i find it pointless to bash a DJ or predict the effect of the show...especially for someone who isn't going to take the time to even go to the show in a Roll Call thread... its nothing but a good vibe in these threads... so maybe we can try not to rain on other ppl's parades...

absolutely.. anyone who's seen Armin at the Dragonfly earlier this summer would probably agree that Armin + small club = one special night of spectacular tunes and great atmosphere.

this time around, I'm actually concerned that he may not do so well at LoL because he has another show that night so he may feel rushed hope that's not the case but i'm just speculating

who are you? And why are you being such a troll?

Did you register just to slam the windsor show? what are your political motivations?

Somehow i doubt you are really from chicago too.

who cares.... armin is for the most part more about the vibe he creates than the music he drops ... he has a good time behind the decks and the crowd soaks that up .. sometimes that covers up for him when hes having a bad day music wise

Posted by revival on Sep-01-2006 02:41:

Funny stuff, same was said about ali (deep dish) small venue and he wont care, we had to drag him off the decks at 5:30 in the moring 6hr set i beleive. I dont think a person like armin or any dj who is ranked as high as him (not that that really matters) would intentionally have a bad performance. Lets say this with that many people up so close to him in a venue this small he will probably feel the pressure, you cant hide in a club this small. Bleu and Necto are both 2am jobs too... I think that has more to do with it than anything.. The energy in this city right now is off the hook and im quite sure armin will feel it right when he steps in the building. With that kind of force behind him im sure he will rip it up.

Thanks for the support from everyone here at TA. Windsor really appreciates it.. we have been starving for YEARS!

Saturday we EAT!

This, plus Nada going, were my main reasons for attending, but alas my choking must maintain its consistency...I'm meeting two clients on Sunday morning in Muskoka and Barrie so I will have to be in bed by 1 am at the latest to be in a normal state for the meeting!

Soooooo sorry Nada! (and Armin )

Posted by JahRastaToo on Sep-01-2006 04:50:

I was there @ The BBR when Ali was there....he did a pretty good job, infact I was there when Steve Porter was there...Benny B ....all these DJs...they all did an alright job. I hope Armin does a good job, but from a business stand point, if one had to choose where to do a better job and put in a conscious efford...I would choose to do a better job @ Labour of Love and Stereo than BBR. I hope he does a good job in Windsor, cuz I have been jonesin to see good DJs in Windsor (aside from Wild Orchid)its too bad that they just started to come when I moved out of that town....the atmosphere is nice...cuz I know Renaldo and Remo have put quite a bit of effort into BBR. I wish for Windsor, Armin does a great job, but you KNOW he is gonna tear it up @ Labour of Love. When I see a DJ spin...I dont pay money to see him play the same track..same sequence...same mix...that he did in his previous gig. I am not paying $20 so he can stick his arms out to the side and pretend he was flying. I guess I am used to the DJs putting in their best effort, and NOT used to them just riding on their name for a response from the crowd. I know about 10-15 people who are gonna be there ..and gonna see Armin for the first time...and they have already, psychologically, set their mind to having a good time..not letting the DJ do what he is PAID to do...by throwing down some SERIOUS mixing. PS Deep Dish (Ali)....even though it was a good show...not even CLOSE to being one of his better sets. I WISH I was there till close, but I had to work in the AM so I left at 3:30.

PS I am not FROM Chicago....but I have been partying IN Chicago for the past 10 years.

Posted by JahRastaToo on Sep-01-2006 04:56:

There is NOTHING wrong with a small venue...infact..I PREFER a smaller venue over a HUUGE one...like Bal et Blanc...or Sensation White...or Creamfields. A more intimate atmosphere is perfect...assuming the DJ's step up to their expectations....I have seen Deep Dish when they do a smaller venue in Toronto, like Ultra, or SoundBar in Chicago; they did a GREAT job...but to a town like Windsor who has only HEARD of big names....but never actually SEEN what MAKES them the #3 DJ in the world....they will love ANYTHING he plays...so of COURSE people are gonna think he did awesome...cuz everyone has already set their minds that Armin is gonna kick ass...but for a person who is used to seeing him do a WICKED set...this is NOT gonna be NEARLY as good.
