Probably, but it hadn't been done in a while and I doubt whether the search would actually yield anything regarding a thread similar. The only thread that comes to mind in recent memory that was comparable was some minimal/idm thread Linden Flowers created. But upon recollection I believe that was some time ago.

Vidna Obmana is awesome, he is one of my favourite ambient artists. He has produced differents sorts of ambient, tribal is just one. I highly recommend his album The River Of Appearance from 1996, that was just reissued for its 10th anniversary. It is one of my favourite albums, all-genres, ever. There are no words for explaining how beautiful it is, you gotta listen to it. Track 05 "The Solitary Circle" =

I'll have to check it out. Right now I'm debating on getting some of Pete Namlook's stuff. I don't think I could go wrong on it.

Namlook is one of the "big ones" too, he has released A LOT of music, most of which is really good. Check out his Silence records.

I've heard he's got probably over 100 albums under all different guises and collabs. Fortunately I know of someone who claims to have almost all of it

i know joel a little bit but i never heard of this remix. is it good?

anyway i was thinking that we should start a ambient/chill out mix archive in the Tracklist Requests / Postings. We could post r own mixs in it plus anyother ones we have. Im willing to run/metain it if there is enough surport for it. What u think?

He has also released a ton of records that are about as interesting as wallpaper. The quantity over quality doctrine that he starting resorting to with Fax might've been a good thing when he started and ambient was something really new to the European dance music circuit, but it sure as hell wasn't a good idea a few years on when so many people started making it outside of Fax.

That being said, there is no denying his vast talent. Silence I with Dr. Atmo shows what kind of monumental music he could create once he took his time to create music carefully. Omid/Hope is pretty much THE definition of subtlety and good structure. Not to mention all his fantastic outings in collab with Tetsu Inoue, the first two Air albums etc. etc.

Leftism was pretty good, and I especially like their 'Swords' production. Is it worth checking out the rest of their discography?

Twoism is fucking great...

I like Solar Fields the most,The Sabres of Paradise are nice too, also some of Solar Stone's ambient remixes.

I'm a massive fan of anything by Aim.

In fact pretty much anything on Grand Central records.

Also Ninja Tune is a good label for chilled stuff.

Cheers
