i listened to the nathan fake album last night, and wasn't really sure why there was so many bad opinions about it

the only problem i had with it that the drums sounded a little weak. i've definitely heard a lot worse records this year

Even the songs featuring known English speaking vocalists like Zoe Johnston, Kirsty Hawkshaw and Jael were dissapointing. There were a few catchy inspirational sounds here and there but overall the album was just plain terrible.

People don't waste your money on this garbage, Promos are out now if you want to take a listen for yourself. If you thought Chimera was a dissapointment, wait to you hear this. They've clearly ran out of ideas, I think they should stop producing.

Worst album of the year? Nuages Du Monde? I may be bias being somewhat of a fan of the band but I, without any minute room for doubt, think you're absolutely out of your mind.

How are the sounds boring? Please elaborate so I can begin to understand how you arrived to your conclusion. I was going to say "how you arrived to your dementedness" but I thought it to be a direct attack.

And you refer to lyrics you don't even understand as "shit." That's just crap.

Perhaps you had high expectations for this album, too high if you ask me. In any case, to go and say that it's the worst of the year? That's nonsense.

Even if I took you seriously for a moment, I would say that there plenty of productions out there this year which reek of an insuperable smell of feces and cheese that somehow manage to get released in big and small numbers. All that cheese and feces smell in the air and you complain about Nuages Du Monde? Then you suggest they should stop producing? I just don't understand.

WORD!!! Totaly agree, LEF sucks..

Might be that a lot of people expected a dancefloor oriented album?

It's one of the, if not the best album I've heard this year.

You'd probably like it since you only just recently discovered "electro" house and had an eargasm over it

But really, it's well-produced gimmicky pap.

Guys, Nathan Fake's album was ace!Beautifull experimental electronica/IDM full of ideas and influences. You could get the a-la Mogwai-and-M83 fantastic post-rockish tunes like Long Sunny (love that tune!) and You Are Here, the My Bloody Valentine-influenced Superpositions, the electronic psychedelia of The Sky Was Pink and Falmer and the trippy Boards-of-Canada-and-Mum-style electronica of tracks like charlie's House and Fell, that album was brilliant and forward thinking!

It was not supposed to be an album full of danceable 12"s, this music is not intented to be "Euphoria-36-the new experience" You know! This is a damn good electronic album for people who like their electronic music a bit more challenging and different, and ofcourse, not restricted to the dancefloor!Electronic music has not to be bloody EDM all the time!

i acctualy think most of ferry corsten's productions are crap. The only one of his productions i ever really liked was punk

Posted by trancepunkk on Nov-09-2006 12:38:

fukk quit bagging ferry corsten. the guy is a legend, yes this album wasnt that great but atleast the guy is trying something different and not just following what everyone else is doing. like say delerium...who's album was just utter rubbish.

i loveee tracking treasure down by the waylol, molly bancroft's vocals really suit the song...i just didnt like the male vocals combined with it but fuck its better than any of kva's productions this year.

I'm not even going to elaborate on this subject because it's really not worth my time. I don't like the album and that's that, don't get offended because you're a fan, it's just my personal opinion, it really shouldn't bother you.

Yeah, because it's not like anyone else has jumped on the faux-electro bandwagon in the last few years, have they?

Actually, Ferry may have become more "electro-ish" on L.E.F., but I think he made his own little niche, especially with his recent vocal tracks.

Posted by Massive on Nov-10-2006 10:15:

'doing something different' isn't an excuse for releasing a crap album there's loads and loads of something differents out there that are brilliant. ferry could have made something brilliant, he's not a bad producer.

Fair enough I suppose. For the record, I wasn't offended. I was a bit curious to see why you would say that about an album which has gotten good reviews.

I won't bother with you anymore though. For a moment I thought you would elaborate. After all, you did make the thread.

can someone explain to me what "tracking treasure down" is actually supposed to mean in the context of the song? Am I missing some sort of metaphor or is just three words they randomly threw together?

Not only have you failed to read properly, but your "correction" is wrong itself. So don't give me your patronising "Have you even heard of electro?" bullshit.

EDIT: Actually, why am I bothering? You've admitted to liking Tracikng Treasure Down. Get out of my office.

the only thing i don't like about ferry's productions is the fact that he uses the same percussion samples for many of his tunes (namely the flashover remixes). that snare gets a little annoying after a while. at least the tunes are well produced.. but i liked the style of "right of way" much better.

+1

Ferry will never make an album that is solid Trance. So some people shouldn't expect that. He will be using Electro as an element in his productions probably for the rest of his career. Better get used to it.

Posted by vbmaster on Nov-11-2006 13:31:

Paul Oakenfold - A Lively Mind was a completety waste of time... dreadful....

The kind of sound that's like philosophy: with or without it, we remain equal.

A State of Trance 2006, although it was good (cd2 mainly), was a disappointment compared to the 2005 version, that stayed on the top played of the mp3 player for months...
