Ok STOP. First off, take your American discussion into the PDD where it belongs. Next, Im not asking what will win for the Grammy's... I'm asking what you would nominate, two entirely different things. So unless you have a response to that topic, could you please take your talk elsewhere. Thank you.

Oh. Um...

I'd nominate Madonna's album then. That way, I know I'll have selected a sure-fire winner, get credit for my 'intuitive' judgement on the nomination committe, and plus give props to a fellow Ciccone!

A musically artistic worthy nomination though? Er, since when has the Grammies ever been about that?

tell me ishkur, one thing. Have you listened to ray of light (the Album), because other than Ray Of Light, Sky Fits Heaven & Skin, where is the trance, tell me, i really want to know.

The category at the awards is "dance," not "trance."

And I already posted this, but it seems to have disappeared. Some kind of server problem?

Or it was deleted by a mod for whatever reason.

i was not talking about this album ffs. http://www.ishkur.com/articles/madonna.php , read about the statement on the year 1998.

[Nevermind. Misunderstanding.]

Must you be difficult?

Thank you. She's a pop artist through and through, if she started working with the Rolling Stones would she be in the rock category? If she was working with Timbaland or Dre would she be in the hip-hop category? No.

So, according to you, Madonna is eligible for best dance recording, because that's for pop artists, but she's not eligible for best Electronic/Dance Album, because that's just for dance artists.

If that's the case, then why were the Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and LCD Soundystem nominated for both of them last year? Are they pop or dance artists, since you seem to think there's such a big fucking difference between the two.

Fortunately, the Academy doesn't consult you when it makes its nomination selections, as it disagrees with your notion of dance and pop being separate entities (psst: they aren't), thus violating your cherished musical identity that insists on listening to cheesy bullshit dance music, but not that cheesy bullshit dance music.

Get over yourself, seriously. Madonna will sweep. I called the shot.

Good for you buddy.

Out of everyone that I have seen posting YOU seem the most vain

Anyway, on topic, i think BT - This Binary Universe. What he did with that album was amazing.

I'd give it up for Vibrasphere's Archipelago

Uh,

she hires producers.... Like william orbit..

the other artists u mentioned, make most of it themself.

I think that should make a big difference...

I hope....

It doesn't.

Brian Eno rarely gets the nod whenever U2 win it big.

I think this is a good topic, at least one that I am interested in, so I would like to hear responses to this topic. If you want to argue about Madonna, please take that elsewhere, but for the most part the talk about her has absolutely 0 to do with the topic. Can I please see some responses to the topic? Thanks.

Social responsibility and Madonna. Ooo, how else might the thread be hijacked? How about vinyl vs CDs?

ya madonna isn't that great at music, she's just a good buisness women and has used other musicians talents for her own success.

You can apply this quote to just about every single trance DJ in existence.

well madonna is not a DJ, she is supposed to be a singer/songwriter type artist, so i don't know why you are comparing madonna to a DJ. did you mean a trance producer? if you do mean producer...then...wow, i know those guys have engineers to help them out, but they don't write thier own music??? that can't be true for "just about every single" one

and if somehow i missunderstood what you meant, then how could you apply my quote to every single trance dj? if you're saying that DJ's play other peoples music for thier own success then...DUH...that's what DJ's do, they play other peoples music.

again you can't compare what madonna is doing to what a DJ does...
but,to repeat myself,a DJ plays other peoples music, hopefully, in a creative way. they do not claim the music they play as thier own...so ya...

madonna on the other hand...she hires people to write out her instrumental parts, and maybe even write her lyrics? i dunno. but, your original statement a couple posts back was that she is some huge influence on the electronic dance music scene or somthing like that. this may be true...but she didnt do any of the instrumental work, which is what really did the influencing, not her stupid-ass lyrics.

but anyway, to be successful in the music biz, then yes, you can apply the fact that you have to be a good buisness person to any artist in every genre.

No, I am not comparing Madonna to a DJ.

That would be an insult to Madonna.
