Not exactly

BTW to the guys thinking you can meet girls at gay clubs

They go there so they WONT get hit on by guys, so the chances of that arent great

Celeberities is wrong for this show not because its a homo club, but because its not even half the capacity of Commodore

Posted by Tayfoon on Oct-15-2006 21:45:

And I bet the prices will be brutal

Posted by nsamadi on Oct-15-2006 22:19:

Sweet....the info page is up on clubzone but tickets aren't going for sale yet. The event cost 30 bucks, WOW...pretty decent IMO.

Can't wait but I fell sorry for Sasha...I mean...I was checking out his myspace page the other day, with the video of him with John Digweed performing in Southwest Buenos Aries in front of 25,000 people.

I guess he got stuck playing for less then 500 people in a gay club in Vancouver.

30$ for a friday for a small venue for Sasha !

Other promoters should learn from this

Posted by idoru on Oct-16-2006 07:07:

Hmm, I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I should go.

As far as the whole "gay club" thing goes, why does that even matter? I've spent a considerable amount of time in San Francisco the last couple of years, and every single guy that has hit on me left me alone after I said, "Thanks, but no thanks, I'm straight." Hell, I take it as a compliment when people come up to me and tell me, "Hey, you're cute." I don't see why that would spoil a good night.

If 30 bucks for a 3 hour max Sasha set is cheap, then promoters & clubs in North America need to sort it out!

Other then that, this looks promising. I don't mind it being a gay club (tho my g/f went on about 'protecting me' a little too much for my liking) and in general I prefer smaller, more intimate venues over the masses. As a Dutchman I've had my fair share of big parties and for me all DJ's I like seem better in small venues, especially The Man Like.

Only thing is I find that a 3 hour set for a DJ like Sasha is the bare minimum; it's the least for a decent build up.

Will you be able to buy tickets online or by phone (my g/f is in Calgary atm) ?

Posted by apri_peel on Oct-16-2006 19:22:

yes, $30 for 3 hours of sasha around here is rather cheap (i paid 10 euros for armada night in holland, but thats a whole different world).

our massives would not fit with sasha's style of music, but it would have been nicer to have him at a bigger club like commodore just so that it doesnt get all stuffy and sweaty, but i agree, smaller more intimate settings are better for sasha's style of music

you'll probably be able to buy tickets through clubzone.com once they go on sale

I can't wait for this night to come. It will be crazy.

apri_ thanks for the birthday shout out!

Posted by jussed on Oct-16-2006 21:41:

Well.. times have changed and Vancouver club hours are limited to how long Sasha can play. Even if he plays the whole night starting at 9pm, there won't be a crowd until 12 so he might as well start at 12 and just bang it out for 3hrs. Long gone are those epic sets that take you places .

2001 (or was it 2000) was the first time I saw Sasha (since I missed him in 97 for that legendary!!! bomb threat party and went to the afterparty where he played for 8hrs and handed out a bag of treats) and he played a total of 8hrs with Digweed.

If you check most of his recent sets they are not that long either, usually around 3-4hrs at most. Just a sign of the times because he doesn't get too proggy anymore which requires a long, slow build. We'll see how it goes!

well, someone tell TA when tix reach stores ill probably go !!

So sick. I'd love to see Sasha and Digweed in this setting.

I've seen Sasha and Digweed play an 8HR set at a Massive in Victoria of all places! WICKED NIGHT!

Posted by apri_peel on Oct-19-2006 03:13:

imagine sasha and digweed at MLC
14-15 year old girls in underwear sucking on their pacifier lollipops
kids with faux hawks barely turned 19 fcked up on drugs
strange people flailing around creating a hazard if you're on the dancefloor
terrible sound system that is shattering your ears
and a horrible stench coming from the washrooms

just think about it, you could have ALL that at a massive with sasha and digweed

30 bucks is a pretty awesome price. Can't wait for this show!

Posted by jussed on Oct-19-2006 21:22:

Last time I saw Sasha at a massive (NYE 2000/2001 in LA) I threatened to make a guy swallow his whistle if he didn't stop blowing it. The look on his high little face was priceless!

And Sasha rocked that massive. He did not rock at all for the afterparty. Actually, he played 2 tracks and got kicked off.

Posted by Psiweaver on Oct-20-2006 18:41:

I can't wait for this as i'll be up there from the 21st to the 4th.
