| Originally posted by dj_bas I got one, I installed the new MSN messenger for Mac, and everytime I run it it places the drive icon on the desktop. If I try to eject it, it tells me that the application is still running. I can eject it when I close out of Messenger. It's weird because that's the only program that does that. Also, anyone know of any programs for a Mac that will burn cue files? I was looking for Buurrrn, but I can't remember how many u's and r's the name has so I can't google it |

Open up Finder (like Windows Explorer, is the first icon on your Dock, the one with the square face) --> Applications --> Firefox (just double click on the application to launch it). The Firefox icon will appear on your Dock as it's running, scroll over it with your mouse, and holding down on the CTRL button, press your mouse button; a pop-up window will come up, and just select Keep in Dock. Now you can add and remove programs from your Dock as you please ![]() Hope this helps! kokanee |

I'm thinking you're opening up the .dmg file everytime you want to use MSN, and as a result, getting the icon on your desktop. For the .cue file - you can use either simplyburns or toast. Can't say I've heard of the program you mentioned though. kokanee |
Alright apple experts - need some more help
After speaking with someone over at Apple, they instructed me that if I wanted to do any video editing at all, even just small video clips and stuff, that i'd have to go mbpro due to the video card capabilities in a normal macbook. His reason was that the macbook comes with a normal intel gma 64bit card where as the mbpro comes with an ati 128-256 option and that final cut will only be able to run on the ati card.
So from my point of view, I think he's talking out of his ass to sell me a mbpro and forcing me to think that the only way to edit video is to use a mbpro w/final cut.
The PC side to me says blasphemy, he's pitching a sale and i'm his target. So help me, can I install another video editing program on a normal macbook with the said video card to do any light video editing or will I suffer that greatly.
My last resort is to go with a normal macbook and if I wanted to do any video editing, i'd save it for my home computers after i transfer the files over.
You're help is appreciated!
The MacBook will not prohibit you from installing Final Cut Pro, but its configuration does not meet the minimum system requirements, and as result, you may experience a degrade in performance. For basic editing, Final Cut on a MacBook should do ok, while iMovie or any other "lighter" editing programs should be perfectly fine.

Apple tries to get more money over the most meaningless things.they can at least make $400 by selling a macbook with .16 ghz more..which is nothing.
Ok...does Toast only burn CUE files if they have a BIN to go with it?

Lame. I've never seen a BIN file that goes with a CUE file for mp3s.

i joined a new computing revolution...i'm in love

1gb - 120gb hd
my 15.4 inch mbpro fits perfectly on my desk

RJT I NEED YOUR HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
What I'm doing
3 PCs are networked on my LAN, all with file sharing capabilities all on the same workgroup all on 1 switch which is connected to a router.
I drop the mac on the same switch and do the following:
Go > Network > Zephyr [zephyr is the name of one of my machines]
I'm able to get into my shared folders to start copying stuff over but for some reason it doesn't keep the connection. It will keep the connection during file transfer but it won't do something that PCs do, like MAP A DRIVE to the shared folder.
On a PC you can MAP a shared drive so that it's always accessible as long as both machines are on. Is there a way I can map these shared network drives on my Macbook? I really need to start moving crap over like 40GBs worth of sets and another 30gbs worth of PSP games, ISOs, Roms, and Emulators.
ANY HELP PLEASE?
Unfortunately, you seriously overestimate my technical prowess.
I can't even figure out how to set up a proper network between the 4 computers in my apartment - Beyond sharing an internet connection, I'm genuinely useless when it comes to any and all networking issues.
Sorry m8 - Wish I could help, there's plenty of this I'd like to know as well... But as I said, I'm fucking clueless.
WHEW LOL ok I thought I was s.o.l when you pm'd me. Was waiting for an 'it's impossible it doesn't work like that stop thinking like a PC" so atleast it might be possible!
I don't see why it wouldn't maybe I should ask some people here at work.
Also, I was suggested to use AdiumX for my messaging program, i like it so far, it's decent but is there anything else I should be aware of that might be betterm, less art intensive more raw text formatted or is that simply executed with a theme?
Next thing, FTP, any suggestions? I installed the FTP extension for FF but have yet to test it. I'm sure it's sufficient for my needs.

So as I continue to search for more reading material on my macbook
I was given a link to this explanation of uninstalling applications on a macbook.
For the noobs like myself who have no freaking clue about mac's, here's alittle reassurance that even I had difficulty dealing with.
