Last time I've heard him he was playing the same stuff as the last time I've seen before that which was a couple months ago. In terms of music collection, I'd say hes been really slacking off. Addy can be an international DJ any day but thats totally up to him which I'm sure hes aware of it as well. Definite maestro behind the decks although I've still yet to see him on three.

You probably have "seen him on three" As far as I know he always has three on the go.......which is one of the reasons why he IMO always kills it...

Sure he makes mistakes but thats only because he tries so much shit that alot of other djs wouldn't.....I can appreciate that. No matter where you catch him its almost guaranteed that he'll drop a couple old school bombs too...which i love...

one of my fav locals for sure........

Seriously, and I've said it once and will say it once again.. His set at The Docks totally killed my entire (amazing!) party weekend, and it takes a lot to do that and he did..

After hearing him a few times afterwards when he opened or closed for DJs, I concluded that skill wise he's very talented and daring - he keep fucking around with the mixer and kind of makes his own music really.. but that does not mean it's good, I think it's way too fast too, and his track selection is usually crap. Anyways he's not for me and like someone else mentioned he would never be the reason I'd go to a club, he would definitely be the reason I'd leave one.

It scares me how similar we are...you sure God didn't create you from one of my ribs Chika? bwahahaha.

Who do I like you ask? IMO, Miss Blu, and Simon jain are amoung the best local DJ's Ive seen in a LONG fucking time based on technical skill, track selection, and the way they can take you on a journy through the night. When you combine all three of these catigories, and even if all three arent a high score individually, when brought together with a high average, that makes them top notch in my books.

my 2 cents

***THIS IS WHERE YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY WRONG AND T.O. PEOPLE PROVE ME RIGHT AGAIN??? WHAT ARE PEOPLE LISTENING TOO WHEN THEY GO TO THE CLUBS......YOU MUST BE ON SOME GOOD SHIT SAYING THOSE 2 DEEJAYS SPECIFICALLY ARE GOOD IN TECHNICAL SKILL, PROGRAMMING, ETC...I'VE PLAYED ALONGSIDE THEM......AND LET ME PERSONALLY SAY I KNOW ALOT OF LOCAL DEEJAYS THAT ARE WAYYYYYYYYYY BETTER DEEJAYS THAN THE PEOPLE IN THE SPOTLIGHT RIGHT NOW!!! IF THEY'RE SOOOOOOO GOOD HOW COME THEY'RE ALL STILL STUCK IN TORONTO AND NOT MAKING ANY MOVES. ANYONE PRODUCING ANYTHING CONSIDERED GOOD??? YOU TELL ME??? PEOPLE DON'T EVEN RECOGNIZE THE REAL NUMBER 1 TORONTO DEEJAYS LIKE----> LUKE FAIR, GREG GOW, SEAN MILLER..... DON'T PLACE AN OPINION ABOUT SOMETHING YOU REALLY HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT-----> UNLESS YOUR IN THE INDUSTRY AND UNDERSTAND WHAT 'A REALLY GOOD TECHNICAL DEEJAY IS......' IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE IN TORONTO BEFORE WE LOSE OUR SCENE COMPLETELY,AND PEOPLE CONTINUE BASHING IT FOR WHAT WE'VE ALL MADE IT.......BULLSHIT!!! TOO MUCH POLITICS, PLUS PEOPLE WITH THEIR BLIND, ONE MINDED OPINIONS KEEP ON RUINING IT FOR US ALL.......DEEJAYS INCLUDED.........WAY TO GO!!! IT'S NOT ALL YOUR FAULT OF COURSE THE CLUBS WOULDN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE DEEJAYS AND THE TUNES THEY PLAY......BUT RATHER HOW MUCH MONEY YOU ALL CAN CRAM INTO THEIR POCKETS.....AND IT WORKS CUZ PEOPLE DON'T PAY ENOUGH ATTENTION AS TO "WHAT A GOOD DEEJAY IS..." CHANGE IS COMING.....SO I SAY......ENJOY YOUR TIME WHILE IT LASTS CUZ YOU ONLY GET ONE SHOT!!!***

Sorry Liam-----> Just get a bit frustrated when people try to say something I assume they don't know very much about. Or maybe it is just my opinion of what a "GOOD" technical deejay is.... Maybe it's because I am a perfectionist in everything that is music??? WHO KNOWS???? All i know is I will see you this Thursday and we can argue this thread all we like over many pitchers of beer....LOL

I think, for the most part, the handful of DJ's that make up the Toronto club circuit are happy just playing the local scene. Don't get me wrong, more than half of them couldn't mix a salad let alone put a clean set together, but for what they are doing, they do their job well. They're not out to bang out some over the top production, introduce new music and sounds, or even break out internationally. They play the tracks that people want to hear and usually to a crowd that isn't that involved or interested in the scene, but just want to party and get wasted. I think alot of us are assuming that the majority of people are going out to hear fresh music and really good DJ'ing skills, because honestly I'd say it's only about 25% that are. With the likes of Greg, Sean, Luke, Brad and even Nathan as of late...these are the guys that, in my opinion, are the only ones with true passion for music and the scene in Toronto...it's extremely rare to hear any of them play a duplicate set (give or take a few tracks) from the last time you heard them.

I 100% agee and like the way you said that......... I'm saying that it's the people who run these clubs that make the scene the way it is.....NOT CARING about new TUNES, about technical skill, etc.....and that is why TORONTO is so far behind with our scene. IT SUCKS compared to alot of other cities......and TRUTH BE TOLD......alot of these locals many of us TALK ABOUT would be BOOED off the stage for their lack of creativity as well as FRESH PROGRAMMING. They need to prove THEY do care and THEY STAY ON TOP OF THEIR GAME for the sake of THOSE 25% OF PEOPLE that PAY GOOD MONEY AND DO CARE!!! THERE ARE ALOT OF OTHER LOCALS IN TORONTO who WOULD appreciate the chances they got if there wasn't a MONOPOLY of DEEJAYS and they would SHOW THEM UP AS WELL. THEY REALLY JUST LOVE THE MUSIC........NOT THE FAME & FORTUNE......WHO GIVES A F*UCK ABOUT THAT......if you do....YOUR IN THIS FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS!!! ACCEPT THE FACT THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMEONE WHO IS BETTER!!! ALWAYS-----> It's a BIG CITY.....and an even BIGGER WORLD!!!

P.S. - I forgot to mention BRAD COPELAND as one of the DEEJAYS WHO HAS NOTHING TO PROVE......He got screwed because HE WOULDN'T PLAY CERTAIN TUNES.......A CLASSIC EXAMPLE.....WAY TO GO T.I.L.!!!

Posted by LKD on Oct-04-2006 19:20:

along the lines of what breen is saying,

we wonder why a dj plays very diffent here when we see them as compared to what we know them for.

reason being, they are told what they should spin based on what the promoter/club says the TO people like.

stanton warriors is the most recent example where i was personally told that they were told what to play as the "scene" is this way here and thats the only way to please us.

then we wonder why the TO scene is so far behind

+1

I'd like to add Lee Osbourne and Kenny Glasgow in there too.

and you are one of them, right?

I know what you mean, though.

The Problem with the scene in Toronto is that there are too many people heavily supporting local djs! And i'm not saying that our local djs suck, not at all! But they just dont feel like doing next steps, they dont feel like going internationally, or innovate their skills. They feel too comfartable and loved here in Toronto. and this is what they want, stay here and enjoy themselves. nothing more, nothing less. and nothing WILL change, as long as there are lineups to the drink every saturday, as long as the majority of the crowd knows who Addy or Manzone and Strong are, but keeps screaming Deep Dish when Roger Sanchez is behind the decks as long as there are ppl posting on the boards that Sydney Blu or Jelo are best djs in the world... as long as the photographers care more about capturing fake tits than the actual atmosphere and crazyness on the dancefloor...

i love how you take a little shot at him for making comments about local dj's in the scene, then you take a direct stab at your photog counterpart.

hilarious.

Unfortunately the scenes been like this here forever, and from a club owners point of view (with the exception of Sonic, BOA, Industry) why would they risk disturbing a time tested formula that is paying the bills week in and week out, as long as money's coming in it could be me up there turning the volume up and down for all they care...which I agree with you, it's not gonna help the scene advance, but it's also not gonna kill it, just let it stay the same as it always has.

Isn't that you though?

Edit: I mean, aren't you part of the problem that you yourself are describing?

Ghost Smilie

To all who had negative things to say about Addy:
It's very stupid how u like to trash him and most of the other local djs when you probably go out to places(and there aren't many) where they are spinning and you probably have been there more than a few times and have enjoyed your night out. I agree with one of the comments earlier where pple post shit when they don't even understand how it all works...Whatever all I know is that we have a lot of pple here who post shit only b/c they have nothing else to do...N/Eway I support Addy all the way and all the other local djs...I have to say that they have never let me down!
p.s. After listening to a lot of other international djs' sets I remember saying to Manzone: "Fuck all these international djs, it's all about u guys"...............
