| Originally posted by tatgirl Yes, a lot of toiletries are cheaper in the US. Target & Walmart are your friends for that. As for Red Bull- cans are sold at convenience stores for $1.99 ea. Isnt that about the same? Only plus in the US is being able to buy a case of it at Costco ($37). < Only downside to that was Graham and other friends coming by and drinking it, only leaving me 5 cans from the case. Rachel- Costco has a cheap book section. If you dont have a membership there, maybe I can take you. Books are quite cheap there, tho the selection is small in comparison to a major book store. |

another rip off i thought of. I always go to buffalo to fly anywhere because its usually 1/3-2/3 cheaper than the same flight from toronto would be.

funny how this thread went from attempting to talk about the high cost of moving/living here and about basic necessities to complaining about the price of fucking Red Bull, airline flights and the latest novel.
LOL

| Originally posted by zokissima As for the costs of living in Canada, yes, they are high. You don't like it? Get the f*** out of Toronto, out of the bigger urban areas. It is not nearly as expensive in the more 'remote' regions of Canada. This is just how it is, for a multitude of reasons. Deal with it. |

| Originally posted by Hantu Thanks for writing this, the whole time reading this thread I was sitting here pulling my hair out thinking to myself the exact things you've written. It really pisses me off hearing people complaining about what it's like to live in Canada when they have made the decision to move here. If you don't like what it costs to live here move somewhere else, I'm getting tired of hearing all this bullshit. I have absolutly no problem paying the taxes that I do knowing that I live in one of the best countries in the world. And yes it is one of the best countries in the world, if it wasen't then why would you want to move here in the first place. -Tim |

Very interesting read....
I lived in Canada for a year and would happily do it all over again.
Taxes may be way higher there than they are in Australia, for example....but it compensates elsewhere....We get ripped of hard in Australia. You guys have no idea how lucky you are.

Lot of the big expenses you speak of can be eliminated by moving to a smaller town.. no parking costs 50% reduction in rent cost right there ur already saving urself 800-1000 a month.. |

| Originally posted by Jayx1 i have to admit, partying here is cheap as fuck. Yet people still moan and bitch about it. i find clothes expensive here though. But we have a pretty good deal when it comes to electronics (except for the states which is way cheaper) |

| Originally posted by Cro_Addict i agree with tips, why should ppl get tips for doing their job. so the waitress brought u food and drinks...thats her job. so u have to tip her for doing her job good?? how bout a guy that works in a factory? when u buy a product in a store, why not look where it was made and go there and tip the guy that made it for u?? i do give tips cuz i feel like i have to. the thing that really pisses me off is the automatic tip that is added in some restaurants..sometimes up to 19%..RIDICULUS some ppl say u have to tip in restaurants cuz the waiters are not paid enough, well thats not my problem. maybe if we stopped tipping the employer will start paying good wages. |

We do pay more taxes then alot of countries, but it is worth every penny. For me the health care system is worth it itself. And I apologize if I offended you or anyone else. |
