Sorry, you said you didn't catch the Raptors game and went on to talk about Aruju.... most have misunderstood your post. The fact that you also said ALL of his players were, I guess was a bit exagerated as well.

Posted by mute79 on Feb-01-2007 15:45:

well w/e, araujo still had a solid game, and him getting so many minutes means his game has improved a LOT, otherwise jerry sloan would never get him into the game in the first place...

anyways, back to raps game... good to see they got that win...

In eight games this year, he is below his career average in MPG, FG %, 3PT%, FT%, SPG, and TO's. He's shooting .278 from the field , with less than 3 pt's per game. Where exactly is this improvement you speak of?

I'm sure this is just a case of one of Utah's big men getting injured for one game, and having no one else but Rafael to fill the spot.

*edit - yes, Carlos Boozer is injured.

Posted by mute79 on Feb-01-2007 16:45:

his career average means nothing... smitch was ordered to start him and give him minutes, even though araujo had no game at the time, so those numbers are skewed...

i'm talking about last night's game while guarding tim duncan, he never looked out of place, and put a lot of pressure on duncan... so much so that at one point duncan almost got t-d up for talking thrash at araujo for a hard foul...

all i'm saying is, the dude has improved a LOT, and utah seems like have gotten the better end of the deal... maybe he just needed more time to develop... w/e the case is, his game represents that of a solid C

Posted by Yohan on Feb-01-2007 16:51:

You mean Araujo learned to play defence instead of constantly fouling?

PS: Every player has a good game once in a while. Great players get shutdown by poorer players from time to time.

Posted by mute79 on Feb-01-2007 17:03:

well, duncan didn't have a bad game, he finished with

25pts, 12rb, 5blk

not a chance, aruajo has been rotting away on utah's bench all season. he's only seen floor time in 8 of utah's 47 games this year. i'm sorry dude, but one game does not warrant a claim that his overall game has improved. nor does it warrant a claim that utah got the better end of the deal...kris humphries, as mediocre as he's been, has given much more of a contribution to the raptors than aruajo has in utah.

and for the record, babcock did make a mess. the guy had no idea what he was doing...it's one thing to make bad picks, but another thing when you don't know how to run the team. babcock clearly did not know how to execute the proper moves in running a succesful franchise.

wayne embry got the ball rolling on turning the franchise around via the jalen rose trade, collangelo picked up where he left off and not only made the right moves, but implemented the right business strategies to lay the proper groundwork for a succseful franchise in the making.

Posted by mute79 on Feb-01-2007 17:32:

araujo only played 8 games cuz he spent a lot of time this season in the d-league, which has obviously helped his game... so he hasn't been rotting on utah's bench... sloan is under no pressure from his GM to play araujo, so giving him 20 minutes and the assignment on duncan, and araujo playing such a great game tells a lot

Posted by mute79 on Feb-01-2007 17:35:

im not gonna say any more on this subject as its pointless... its easy to crap on araujo as we had the misfortune of seeing him play like shit for so long, but dude's game is different now...

better than humphries' anyways

no he hasn't...

here's your proof.

Dude, Aruju sucks. Plain and simple.

You are saying he's improved based on one game you happened to catch lastnight. I know stats aren't everything, but his numbers have declined in every statistical category - and like me and slingers have both mentioned already... he's played 8 games all year.

Your argument is rediculous. Bottomline - he is a shit player, who had an average game for the first time all year. Good for him - but let's see him put a string of okay games before he even gets mention of being a DECENT player.

This just proves the pure awesomeness of this team this year.

Unreal!

Is anyone else a bit miffed that Calderon didn't make it to the Sophomore team for All star game this year?

Which other 2nd yr point guard is doing as well as Calderon is this year?

who cares, thatll still keep him under the radar. all these teams dont give him the respect he deserves, thats why he just beats the shit outta them.

umm, i'm sad not to see him make it, but you can't overlook other sophmore pg's like chris paul and raymond felton

Yeah they start for their mediocre teams, but you're telling me that Calderon's contribution to the Raps isn't as good, if not better than Felton and Paul's?

No, it's not. Better than Paul's? That's a stretch if i've ever heard one...when healthy Paul is arguably the 2nd best pg in the league behind Nash. He totally gives his team a new look and makes his teamates way better than they actually are.

Bosh player of the month in East
Bargnani rookie of the month in East
Mitchell coach of the month in East
Crazy

Raps destroy the Clippers offensively and wins again.

It's good times in Raptorland as the Raps keep winning.

Though that rebounding problem keeps lingering. That IMO is the final piece the Raps need to go far into the playoffs. Though it remains what Colangelo will give up to get that good rebounder. (MoPete most likely trade bait?)

Raptors are going places by the looks of it. If not this season, then next or the one after. This is definetly the best Raptor team, the way they are playing is really hard to believe.
