How you doing Juan? Everything good?

For Jay:

Check the bottom left upcoming shows... does STEREO compete with that?

Posted by all-nite-freak on Oct-13-2006 17:56:

the internet is not for being nice

I wish I had a chance to check out Stereo, I hear great things about it.

LA consitantly brings in top notch talent. Every weekend there's something worth checking out.

yes

you voted armin #1
so for you taste is an aquired taste i suppose

ok...lets just say for the sake of arguing both lineups are better.
you still have to find 8 more clubs.

not to mention the club closes only at 4...what kind of a party is that

A party with alchohol?

stop it people, LA has good clubs, but we have Stereo in Montreal. You can say some clubs in LA have better bookings than Stereo, but what about if what they are booking is not the house tunes stereoheads love to hear? If tastes didn't exist, many people wouldn't have kids eh?

Last Monday, Calderone gaves an incredible Recovery party, and several of my LA friends were in town for the party - it was just funny to hear them saying: "... this is incredible, I had never seen a party like this one before..." Needless to say they are coming back next year.

I wrote this in one of my reviews of a party at Stereo

"It does not matter if you are fat or fit, straight or gay, black or white, cute or ugly, we all go to Stereo to enjoy our time, to feel the music, to feel what is to be in a place where almost no one judge you, or bug you, to feel the vibe".

I wish the best to Angel Moraes, and if I have the chance I want to check out his new place in NYC, I just think he doesn't need to use the name Stereo, but if this is how is going to be, hey - I hope it does work out in NYC.

lol if u get wasted at stereobar from 11pm until 3am and go to stereo, your still fucked anyways and the party only starting LOL

Thats the thing i like about Stereobar/Stereo you go at 11pm and you leave at god knows what time the next morning or afternoon.

Only other city on the planet I know of a club or clubs doing that is in Ibiza, especially Space.

Personal msg from Angel Moraes

Hi All,

By introduction, I am Angel's manager. In light of some comments on various boards, Angel has asked me to post this personal msg:

To all my friends out in Musicland,

In the midst of all the excitement regarding the opening of Stereo, New York, Ive been told about some negative statements coming from certain individuals, and I'd like to set a few things straight.

First of all, before there was any other "sound guy" or sound company at Stereo Montreal, there was Angel Moraes and the original stereo system for 4 years. It was my team and those 4 years that made Stereo what it is. With all due respect to the people that are there now, the fact is they would not be there if it wasnt for me and my team. We created Stereo - the name, and its logo, and I am going to use it if thats OK with all the negative people out there. I always do things on a positive and good vibe and quite frankly I cant believe how negative and malicious some people can be. Lighten up people!!!!!

Secondly, it is not NY emulating Montreal. Quite the contrary, Stereo was conceived in 1983 when I visited the Paradise Garage in NYC and said to myself "one day I want to build something like this". So bringing Stereo to New York is an attempt to bring back that wonderful vibe that used to exist in this city even before Montreal knew what underground afterhours were. YOU KNOW THE ONE! That beautiful vibe that made me fall in love with Montreal and decide to create Stereo there. Having Stereo in NY is an honor for me, and hopefully for you as well.

Honestly, I dont understand the malice and the negative comments from some of you. This is a good thing for NY. This can be a great thing for the party people in both our cities. My intention is to bring people together.

I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful messages on myspace and the many people who support me positively, you truly inspire me and I hope to see you on the dance floor @ STEREO NEW YORK on November 18th 2006. As for those certain individuals if you dont want to participate, suit yourselves and stay home.

Finally, I want everyone to keep in mind that this place is for EVERYBODY. Id like to personally invite you all and extend an invitation to Join Alan Sax and myself in celebrating the introduction of Stereo, New York on Saturday November 18th 2006.

With all the positive energy that we have I am sure we can change some minds.

Peace, Love and always MUSIC
Angel Moraes

Is Angel Moraes ghey?

Posted by all-nite-freak on Oct-18-2006 22:27:

still lame...
maybe hes doing it to enhance his sputtering dj career

Posted by Alex on Oct-18-2006 22:31:

Dunno if there was really anything malicious said, kind of a powerful word.

Well I hope he succeeds at creating a successful product. He successfully brought that vibe (from Paradise Garage) to Montreal because the political and social situation permitted it. Apparently, its been lacking in New York, so maybe there is an unmet need.

I don't know what it was really like, but from what people say, the Paradise Garage was quite infamous, sort of the same vibe as the Comfort Zone in Toronto. Maybe someone who's a little older than me can tell me about the Paradise Garage. I get the impression it was sort of "anything goes".
