except the one difference is atheists push established knowledge on to others. things that can be proven wrong, but haven't been. relgious freaks push their morality, based upon unprovable concepts, upon all of society, believers and nonbelievers alike. you don't see atheists and agnostics trying to censor certain vocabulary out of all media, ban abortion, ban gay marriage and ban stem cell research. this the the problem with having absolute beliefs based in superstition... you begin to think you're absolutely infallible because there's no way to prove otherwise, and thus you have the right to make decisions for everyone in society.


ps- i don't think anyone who's naive enough to buy stock in 'faith' has the right to laugh at anyone lol

and pushing science and knowledge of science is not the same as pushing a belief system

Speaking as an Athiest, I can tell you that it's bullshit to push any personal beliefs onto others. If your beliefs make you happy, then so be it. The beliefs of others make them happy, so let them live their lives in whatever way they see fit.

Simply because you believe in a more fact-based ideology makes you no better or worse than those who belive in a faith-based ideology. It's how you go about respecting other peoples personal faiths that makes you better or worse, and in this case you're coming off as worse.

i don't know much about the christian coalition but if it is their policy to push their beliefs on others then i personally disagree with that.

there's a lot of push in the christian religion to try and 'save' others with their ideology. i was raised by a presbyterian father and a catholic mother and i saw a hell of a lot of a superiority complex in both churches. fuck that nazi shit.

it's probably not a good idea to identify yourself as the problem if you, by my own definition, are not. the problem is the idea of religion, not the few people who are able to consume it for personal use without stepping on other people's toes. the institution of religion, be it christianity/catholicism, judaism and islam, has a very openly stated agenda to rule all of society by it's own moral code. you may just be another follower, but the leaders are doing all the value projections for you. either way, if you are religious, you are subscribing to a warped morality, which is still dangerous when you put enough of you together.

my family chastised me a lot when i told them i was an athiest way back when, still made me go to church, and my dad calls me ever week trying to get me to read the bible and be more christly. even out here in saskatchewan i hear some people try and recruit me sometimes.
