i could also mention Christopher Lawrence that was an awesome night.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

If it's true, this sucks...BIGtime

My nights:

1)Howells+Digweed-Sept 2005
2)DJ Dan-Nov 2005
3)ummmmmmmmm I'm not sure...Possibly Howells for NYE 2005?

Oh and MORE THAN HONOURABLE mention: each and every one of Creator's sets, especially those journey-like 6 hour ones, when he was tired and couldn't hear anything and everything hurt...he was there. He is why Aria still breathed life lately. Point final. I've told him so myself and many people who actually work there told me the same, so, hats off to the best MTL DJ. Hopefully, bigger and better things await you my sweet!

tgif freak fridays 4 life...BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM....smashmouth dancefloor

me sad now

One of the things I most regret is not being here for Aria's glory years when they kept bringing consistantly amazing acts...Sven, Liebing, Hawtin etc.

My top three:

3. Mauro + Junkie XL
2. James Holden
1. Sasha + Steve Porter + Tall Paul

..not to mention I discovered all my favorite locals; Creator, Maus and Mini in Aria.

Aria has always been the epitome of what an afters should look and sound like for me. I will never forget it.

First show at Aria was Hybrid in I think 2003? 6 hour set or so; they fucking owned, and I was absolutely blown away. I was in Montreal for a week from Vancouver and could barely comprehend how good the venue, the sound, and vibe was; nothing in Vancouver even remotely fucking compared to the goodness of Aria.

I'm really, really, really upset that it's closing.

the system is fine...it just isn't set up properly...you don't have to be a sound engineer to notice the difference from before.

instead of carrying this thread out as a rant list your best aria moments..

top 3
3.chris liebing
2.sven vath
1.speedy j( best of anyplace i've ever been..)

3.Howells (because of maus)
2. DJ Dan (because of louis)
1.Junkie XL (because of him)

In my opinion, aria has the best lighting system and sound, I don't know what you're talking about tag....but for me stereo has made my ears bleed every time I leave (especially at sander)
But if it's one thing I'll miss about that place is the lights, from top to bottom

Deep Dish 8h
Picotto 2002

Sasha 2005 omggg

Posted by Soundwerks on Nov-05-2006 22:35:

yeah, Carl Cox 2003 was a SICK night! As was Chris Liebing a few years ago (possibly 03 as well?)

I think the demise of Techno in the city led up to Arias closing. I've been out of the "scene" for a few years, but have noticed a pretty sharp decline in the techno lineup over the years

once the minimal fad is done with it will be back....it always comes back.

Posted by Wisnia on Nov-05-2006 23:06:

My most memorable:

Carl Cox 2003
Armin 2004
Richy Hawtin and Lee Burridge 2004/5?

Sickkk!

Posted by Marcus007 on Nov-05-2006 23:29:

I missed out on the glory days... fuck...

1) Digweed/Howells
2) Preach F1 Weekend
3) Ferry Corsten (April 2005)

1. Ferry April 15th 2005 - the night I fell in love! That date is etched in my mind forever. I had so much fkin fun that night, every other time I went to Aria was just trying to recreate the feeling I had that night. Heard so many classic tunes for the first time that night, it just blew my mind.

2. DJ Dan/BBB/Louis November 2005 - Lovvvved this night. The place was more packed at 11:30am from Louis' set than it was at peak hours when DJ Dan came last month.

3. Junkie XL/Mauro Picotto - So many TAs were there! And it was fkin cool how they played on opposite sides of the room. I remember Mauro starting his set off with such banging techno. Great night.

I'll miss that place sooo much. The feeling of coming down those stairs for the first time each night...the lighting, the great happy times I had there! Me and my friends worshipped that place.

it remains as not only my favorite aria night, but the best set/performance i have ever heard by anyone at any venue.

pure genius.

My fav

Deep Dish (new years)
Tiesto(formula one)
Preach(anytime he was there)

This is sad I hate the new trend going through montreal. I guess all good things must come to an end. I was there at the end of sona and never thought I would go anywhere else but Aria became my new home. Now I guess I will have to find a new home again. I just hope they give me a chance to say farewell with a great party.
