-- Ear Plugs VS None?

regular foam earplugs are not good cause they block all the EQs totally... I wear custom ear moulds...sound is untouched just 15-20 dBs lower. I get no ringing at all and the moulds stay in place when dancing.

PS. If anyone needs the yellow ones I got cartons of them at work

They're definatly worth the money. You can't put a price on your hearing. They're not even that expensive...$30ish, compared to the personalized ones you can get that are molds of your ear which are in the hundreds range - depends on how much you're willing to spend. But they're both good.

The difference between the ER-20s is that they're musicians earplugs. They lower the decible of the music without making the music sound bad. The foam ones you get are what ppl use for studying, or in the factories etc...to block out noise in general.

Customs are the way. Shanny and I have them as well.

Union Hearing Aid Centre Limited - 123 Edward Street - (416) 364-2264 is the place to get them.

I also recommend having a hearing test every few years to gauge how much damage one is actually doing by partying all the time.

Posted by magikb on Nov-07-2006 03:29:

oh I guarantee after being at the zone on Sunday that I have done more than enough damage to my hearing in the last few years of partying. My ears weren't ringing anymore this morning when I woke up, but I think that I need to invest in something for my ears and get them checked while I am at it.

no no no..dont get me wrong...of course you'll have damage done, it just his happened more rapidly due to his condition....im not saying nothing will happen to you, sorry for making it sound that way

foams ones are apparently not even half as decent as ER-20's

just found some on ebay for $7

Just wait until you get older. Your ears won't just ring for 2 or 3 days, they will ring all the time. For ever. Well, until you die at least. I remember when I used to turn on my TV I could hear the high pitched sound that it makes. Can't hear it anymore. Now all I hear is the constant ringing in my ears.

I have been partying for 11 years and my ears are fine, don't ring (unless the sound is shit).

BUT, I never dance next to the speakers and I take regular breaks from the music altogether ie patio.

As we hurtle towards winter though, I think I will purchase some ER-20s - the patios are not going to be habitable for long.

Earplugs... here I come!

Will get a pair of earplugs soon...I'm definitely noticing my hearing loss
