dude try to find the M-Audio USB Quattro used.

on ebay or whatever... i'vebeen using that model for about 3 years and they don't make it anymore since they moved more towards firewire...

but see if you can find that model used maybe if someone else is upgrading to firewire.

m-audio quattro.

its got 4 channels in and 4 channels out and it can be reconfigured to 2 in and 4 out or 4 in and 2 out.... you get the picture...

maybe message me so we don't spam up the thread but what software were you thinking of using?

YO Taj where are you gonna be this weekend on saturday?

Ohhh, yeah that's pretty cheap...like $100. A few auctions that are at like $25, but reservers aren't yet met.

But it doesn't matter. I might as well be on wellfare, lol.

Maybe some day. But firewire has less latency and is much easier on the system overall as USB uses CPU cycles. I mean, there's a bigger chance of a system hiccup when using USB.

But then again, Firewire ports go bad a lot easier.

Anyhow once I get something (which will probably be never at this rate!), I can work on getting a mixer.

I don't get how people around here are able to afford so much shit. Like I think I have a good job and everything and I still can't afford any DJ crap! Hell, the laptop I have (1.8ghz Centrino Duo w/ 1gb of RAM, 100GB HD), which I love, is provided by my work. My home desktop died like a month ago! lol This laptop runs Ableton 6 beautifully, though. Only reason I have Ableton is because our sound engineer at work gets it through the sound studio he also works with and handed it off to me since he doesn't even care to touch it.

Moving and having a baby around the same time = nightmare on the funds. If there's something worse than a nightmare, that's what it is!!! But I wouldn't change a thing.

Other than maybe having more money!

I need to move from working 100% within the software for my mixing. Think I have that part down pretty good now, lol. Few doubts that I can get a gid here or there. Am asked from time to time....and sure that once I got more real experience, I could get them on a somewhat regular basis. Just need the equipment.

Guess if I can get this Quattro, can alway be cheapo in the practing and use an old Mackie sound board from work, lol.

Anyhow, now I need to stop whining. lol.

TAJ-

Yea i'm gonna be hanging with Beaver and Deepsky so if they make it to your party, i'm making to your party.

DaveT-

The Quattro is the shit to me... no hickups at all especially with newer cpu's now adays... they handle it fine. I think Taj had a good Idea...
BENEFIT PARTY FOR DaveT!!

John Beaver-

lol @ this thread

i just put in my votes... sf really does have an uncanny concentration of local dj talent though, way too many to reduce down to just five so i just picked the ones whose music i was most familiar with: alain octavo, ismael rodriguez, scott carrelli, syd gris and taj. a special quality i think is somewhat unique to sf djs is how dynamic their styles are. there's a few out there who can throw a killer trance/techno/house/breaks/electro/prog party depending on what's on the menu for the night. taj is one of the ones that comes to mind, from weekend to weekend you can always expect fresh beats out of him. no rehashing of 'easy' crowd-pleasers, just bangin IDs and ch00ns a taj vs svd set would be a total mindfuck between those two record boxes haha

I second that!!! That would be stellar!! Happy to see Taj hitting top 10 this week. Sweet!!

I'll take your word for it if I ever get the money to buy it.

Why can't someone hold a contest where you can win equipment that actually doesn't require to use other equipment to win! Then maybe I could win something. lol.

Anyhow, finally put my votes in this poll and see Taj is currently #2. Awesome. Of course Taj was one of my five.

To give an idea of how picky I am, I almost didn't vote for five DJs. I love a lot of the DJs on there, but you have to prove a lot to me. Taj has certainly done that. Always seem to really dig his sets plus he's so versitile (which I've mentioned before). Remember when I would be asked from time to time who I think should open for some big trance DJ and my response was always "Taj & Gianni!" I miss Gianni. :-( Although, do believe Taj is more consistent. Gianni could be REALLY REALLY off some nights. Still miss him, though. Wonder how his new thing with running Seven Ultralounge up in Santa Rosa or whatever is going. ;(

A couple others I've voted for are Alain Octavo (who just blows me away more and more every time I see him) and Scarlett Etienne (who I wish played here a lot more and at venues I like!). The other two I will not say just because there would be like 10 others who would get mad at me because I didn't pick them, lol.

Posted by DaveT on Nov-24-2006 23:10:

Whelp, looks like I'll be getting my hands on an M-Audio Quattro.

Have a friend (in NY) who will sell it to me for only $25 and it's like brand new. And says I can just pay him for it whenever I have the money.

Can't ship it until he's at work on Monday (so free shipping), but should get it like next Wednesday.

Whoot.

Now for a mixer! Anyone in the SF area have a mixer they don't use and I can just "borrow" to practice

Thank you for the votes & the kind words Mr. Lex400 & Dave T... Its truly appreciated!!!!

I have never tried to genre myself into 1 style of EDM. There has always such a diverse selection of EDM for years & years that ,for me, its impossible to play just one sound. & on top of that its no fun to play 1 sound. I have always believed that the beauty of EDM is the simple fact that there are so many different styles/sounds out there that how could a "TRUE" DJ/musician genre himself into 1 style of EDM? I have always had great pride in the fact that...

I LOVE THE MUSIC I PLAY & I PLAY MUSIC I LOVE!!!

Posted by sexyhousegirl on Nov-27-2006 20:20:

King My one and only vote goes to you TAJ

I totally agree with what Lexx and Dave T said you are highly diversified in your DJing style and really encompass all the great sounds of dance music.
I've been coming to see you spin regularily for about a year and just when I think I heard your best set you wow me even more. I've never come across such an all around DJ as yourself even more so a person/DJ who loves the music as much as you do, and it permeates through the dancefloor to each and every person there hearing and watching you spin. keep up the good work TAJ and you deserve to be #1.

im new to california and have only taken up reading theis side of the forums recently but reading Taj's posts and seeing him working behind the booth (not talking about the spinning part) at 1015 , its just good to see someone genuinely aid the community growth in an area. You got my vote Taj, keep up the good work.

I only know of Taj, Dyloot and Gabriel & Dresdan. Who should I put in place 4 and 5?

You know you don't have to make 5 selections right? If 3 is all you know then just make 3.
