Okay - then I think it was just a case of poor choice of words on your part. You're right, I can't think of a single hardcore track that I like, and only a very few drum n bass tracks that I like manage to spring to my mind - but I can still appreciate it for what it is without actually liking it, and would never dismiss the entire genre as "shit" or "crap."

Not my genre of choice i have to say, and i hardly know fuck all about it. Though i loved,
Loco Dice - Seeing Through Shadows, that was a nice slice of minimal tech-house.

If you dont like it, then dont bloody listen to it, and stop moaning.....simple as.

search google for any place that sells it online, its labeled under either minimal or techno. when minimal tracks are not so minimal, they're called the next closest sounding thing, techno.

If you don't like minimal, you obviously aren't going to any minimal parties. They are the BOMB.COM!

Montreal Minimal parties PWN. Julien knows what I'm talkin about!

No.

Well, they shouldn't be.

you really just cant make every music snob in here happy in regards to genre labels. if you call your typical 2006 minimal track minimal, you get scoffed at by minimal purists saying "that's not minimal! its a disgrace how everything is called minimal now!". if you call a minimal style sounding techno track techno, you get yelled at for calling it techno.

what i meant by that earlier statement is how online stores categorize their music. everywhere i looked (briefly), lauschgoldengel was under either minimal or techno. over the past year of shopping, ive noticed when minimal tracks are not so minimal, (i.e. have more elements or layers - not so simplistic), they tend to get filed under techno. i think its because techno is the next closest cousin in terms that they are both very percussion oriented and the samples used are similiar (but not used in the same way).

btw i bought the one sided vinyl of lauschgoldengel and love it. play it on 33 speed for a really weird cool effect.

if you read half carefully you'll see that's exactly the point i'm making..

i was simply restating it !

Posted by humilis on Nov-16-2006 17:26:

I like minimal with deep house elements. Slightly melodic, housey beats with techy sounds. And of course minimal dub techno of 90s like Basic Channel stuff. That Villalobos plip plop minimal (which is the bandwagon I think) is mostly shit.

Posted by julien2 on Nov-16-2006 17:27:

People have a misconception that minimal is slow and the opposite of hard music

MINIMAL IS NOT AMBIENT !

Minimal can be fast, hard and rich in sounds.

I don't need a fucking google search to tell me what it is dipshit, saying it was trance was a tongue in cheek comment due to it's massive breakdown, insane build up and melodic nature, it's trance in the true sense of the word, and 3 beat records saying it's minimal isn't going to convince me otherwise.
In other news 90% of the people posting in this thread have no fucking idea about anything, let alone what minimal is.

and you - the person who's basically saying that trance in the true sense of the word translates into tracks that have insane build ups & breakdowns - are supposed to be the one who has a clue?

laughable.

no no no, you got me wrong there, im not trying to be cool or anything.

i mentioned in a post before that i was heavily influenced by that music and now i realised it and am starting to get over it.

give it a rest sweetheart, I was playing devils advocate. Have you even heard the track? it's trance in it's purest, stripped down most repetitive form. I heard it in fabric a few months back and though I'd walked into the main room at gatecrasher

Posted by jupiterone on Nov-16-2006 18:46:

I love that pling plong shit, it's groovy as fuck. Don't think I'll ever get tired of minimal though. It's got such a direct feed to it and puts you in a very weird state of mind; kind of like a musical hypnosis cause the sounds are so pulsating and wide especially stuff from Luciano. He takes shit you'd usually use as percussion and create an abyss of multi-dimensional melodies and sounds.

I'm still there mate. See my recent "sven vath sound of" post of disgust at the price of it

It's just a bit quite just now since it went down, not really a great deal of topics where I can add input on.

Posted by bobba lou on Nov-16-2006 18:55:

is the price that much?? i have not bought it yet. Ramon mentioned about getting. I guess i will check it out then. Got my bday coming up next week, miguel will be in town so i will be locked in the studio with him and michael, and then rave it up with dice perhaps..should be fun.
