LOL This topic is absolutely stupid. That godskitchen set
is trance to the max by the way. So he played one track that has minimal elements in it??

He always plays a oddball track now and then in with his usual style. He played umek-gatex back in 2002 along with other harder techno tracks.

He's slowly kicked on the house a bit more in 2005 - now.

That does not mean he is still a trance dj. I swear some of you make these topics just because it is tiesto.

Its not stupid bozo..shows how he is jumping on the minimal band wagon as well..check out some of his other sets and you will see. And its funny how you call that other stuff trance...most of it isn't..it's called synth-pop..know the difference b4 you make comments like that

Thats called DJing, and every DJ does it.

I don't think Tiesto is jumping on any bandwagon. If playing one different track to change the pace in a set is jumping on the bandwagon, then god help any dj that trys something different.

Please Mr. DJ do what ever you want, do not listen to the masses.

I was about to post the same thing. The last few times I've seen Ferry he's played a house track here and there, but that doesn't mean he's jumping on the bandwagon and turning into a house DJ. He's playing what he enjoys and what he thinks the crowd is going to enjoy.

I don't see why so many people are saying "he's realizing that trance sucks". Music EVOLVES...trance has EVOLVED. We can all see that the "trance" that's played nowadays is MUCH different than the epic trance of the 90's. It's never gonna stay the same forever. And just b/c a DJ is veering away from a certain sound they had spun for YEARS does not mean they don't like it anymore. A lot of DJs just like a variety of sounds and are experimenting with other things.

The same reason why half the people on this site are househeads now, yet used to be big into trance!

Well its so funny sinc the good house I hear from progressive house to even straight house has so many trance elements to it..those genres whould shyat w/o trance influences.

CH- trance ain't brutal, I mean everyone knows it used to be amazing and it will never be what it was but it's just that 90% of trance out there sounds the same, same structure and same sounds. Just go to the producers forum and you will read comments like "ok guys, here what you do to make a trance track: get some kicks, get some hats, find a melody, tune your hyper saw, have a break, drum roll commence track". Plus most of it doesn't have an edge to it. There is still some good stuff out there though.

A lot of these tracks have progressive elements in them, so it's not really surprising he's playing them...I've considered tiesto to be half a prog DJ for awhile now.

...even funnier is when the house tracks with some kind of 'buildup' gets the most reaction out of people

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Nov-22-2006 20:10:

excuse my ignorance, but WTF is "minimal"? Is this yet another new sub genre of a sub genre?

nevermind. My friend clued me in. techy stuff eh. cool.

Thumbs up

"Love Is Stronger Than Pride" - Michael Mayer

This song is amazing minimal (Michael Mayer is the co-founder of Kompakt) and Tiesto has been playing it for years!

Tiesto has proven his musical talent and DJ interest to be broad. Tiesto has been playing trance, techno, house, minimal, maximal, progressive, classical - all in varying degrees all throughout his career.

The man's diversity and ability to create atmospheres with his sound is what has made him such a special DJ.

Tiesto puts on a fantastic show and I look forward to seeing him in the near future (NYE in Montreal).

That would be due to the fact that the majority of the people are flying at that point!

brilliant track.

I have a distinct memory of finally hearing that on a big sound system (Guv) years ago.

Came back in from the patio one sunny morning, about to head home...then MO dropped this and I *died* on the dancefloor

good for Tiesto...will be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets if he plays a set like this here (though I certainly won't brave the stupid crowd to find out in person, lol).
