-- Jonathan Peters DJ Booth makes PVD booth look like childs play.
Pages (4): « 1 2 [3] 4 »
Cool. I would seriously much rather see Zabiela with an EFX 1000 and his CDJ's, etc.
That's enough for me
In all my efforts to find a Jonathen Peters set or video that sounds even remotely good, I've failed miserably.
The man is a joke - I've never heard such awful misuse of technology.

WTF!? I can't believe shit like this actually happens.
He sounds like a complete prick in the interview as well.
His productions are shit too...
Can somebody post a set for those of us who are not as 'informed' about JP's sound?
haha! he sounds like one of those kids with rich parents that wants to impress girls by DJing. I bet the only reason he gets booked is cus the promoter hasn't heard of him and has seen the ridiculous amount of crap he calls samantha.
Jonathan: GET A FUCKING GIRLFRIEND
ok iam from nyc and know a lil more about jp then you guys ill try to explain the best i can about him
basically he started out a regular dj in local bars and stuff then he became the resident dj at the sound factory which he was at and which is one of nyc's super clubs from 97 to 02
he had a good following he played house, vocals, some tech and even some trance anyway he would be famous not just cause he was the resident dj but that he could spin for 10 to 12 hours week after week
he had a lil bit of a following in nyc and around here a few gigs he had in miami and las vegas but he wassent internatinal at all
he did a few remixs for some artists which were pretty good imo
his biggest remix was the one he did for whitney houston for the track
"my love is your love"
after that he blew up even more in nyc and his partys were great and he was doing a few good tracks here and there
he is also a good mixer belive it or not he can work tracks not like eddie halliwell or nutin but he has some skills
gabriel and dresden even said in an interview that he is one of the best technical djs they ever saw
anyway after his residency ended in 02 he been ending up in diff venues for a few months then leaving them and he wassent producing as much and his crowd became kinda shitty and alot of drugs and stuff
so to put it in a nutshell now he is still a good dj imo he is underratted its just his crowds suck and he caters to them more
i dont know how he won best dj in america and he dont really leave nyc at all
Heard that when SF went down it really put quite the blow on NYC clubbing eh?

You need to understand a few things about Ableton. 1) The only thing Ableton make easier is beat matching and I dont view beat matching as the thing that makes you a good DJ or not. Beat matching is just a maintenance item you must learn to be able DJ with CD's or vinyl. 2) Being that you dont have to beat match it gives you more time to be more creative with your mixes, in way you could NEVER with CD's or vinyl. 3) Quite being an elitist and evolve, it's better with Ableton. |
No comments about this guy,
but there are definately a lot of people out there who know how to bullshit and market their way to success just by basic techniques by making people think they're good. For example, another technique used by RnB Djs is to fully pimp themselves out, with expensive gear and bling and clothes. Just making themselves look good alone makes people think they are good, and develops a followoing.
The most successful DJs in the market usually have skill as well as marketing.
i understand what you are saying about being more creative and not having to beat match, but you can be just as creative using four decks, beat matching is easy. and i said that i could sound better as a joke.

LoL... the guy's posing as if he's the "shit"
90% of this stuff is pointless.
About ableton - I recognise its uses, and realise that it can make for a far better mix than 2xTruntables, etc.
But some people still fuck up mixing on it, which is shocking.
And beat matching is realtivly easy yeah, however it's incredible just how many big named DJ cant do it consistently for shit.
Nothing irritates me more than hearing mixes constantly being shit, whatever the medium used.
Trying to be creative when you can't even get the basics right is a big mistake.
