Posted by ZeJayMan on Dec-07-2006 02:05:

You forgot acid jazz...

Posted by Akridrot on Dec-07-2006 02:09:

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and they all stink.

Seriously, this is dumb and will only lead to disappointment. I don't classify artists by genre, just songs...

It's really pointless to classify artists. And it isn't interesting at ALL to read lists of what other people think certain genres mean. Boring.

Nice one, Psy-T, you rock. It helps me get an idea of how you percieve both the artists and the genres.

Posted by jahnlay on Dec-07-2006 13:25:

Oh c'mon, you just wanna be argumentative. So what if they classify it like that, that's their choice, and there ain't nothing you can do about it.

Acid to me can classify two completely diffent things. My friend used to say that acid isn't even a genre, its like "Acid Rock". Kind of confusing cuz it makes sense even though we try to classify music by the way it sounds. There is far more to it. You have to take into account the time it was conceived, where it was made, the insturments involved in producing it etc etc. Hence the reason why classification is such an tributary subject that can be argued differently for every point of view out there. But I agree that its interesting to see everybody classifying things in their own interest rather than following some template. There never was and never will be a specific way to describe the many different types of music with just one or two words. however, it would be nice if it was that easy.
