As far as the Shelter crowd, I have a lot of respect for the staff and the patrons. Sure it's easy to call them crackheads for staying out until noon, but I think the vibe at Shelter parties is something to be admired. They've been going strong since the mid 1980s, and the staff are all great people (although I'm very surprised a drink was 12$, that's insane). Back to the crowd though, I think it's more of a spritual thing than a crackhead thing. Victor Calderone crowd at Crobar at 1PM is a crackhead thing, these people are simply there to enjoy a vibe that you can't find in any other club in the city (too often), like their own little "Shelter". And when you really look past things like physical stuff or clothing or dancing styles, at the end of the day, they're having fun and are with their friends. The crowd at Shelter all knows each other for years, and it's like nothing we have in this city anymore. Of course it's not everyone's thing, but different strokes for different folks... My only complaint is their accomodation of the earlier parties (10PM until the beginning of their party)... It's a lot of confusion, money-wise and music-wise, and we have decided not to go back on Saturdays for this very reason. Much respect to the staff though, and once again, thank you everyone for coming!

exactly!!... i think too many people these days complain and bitch about the little things that go wrong, and not enough about the actual vibe that you get from it, i have heard about the deep house scene and i actually happened to really enjoy it! that is why i wanted to come to this event as well that night to experience something different.

explain to me how that is retarded? like i said i was around the 13,14 age range and as a kid i have always had a passion for dancing, and had started hearing dance music but didnt know much about it,plus they had a lot of teen nights(when i say i went to clubs i mean teen nights specifically) around here in the westchester county area that catered to the young teens if you go to europe (love parade, street parade) they have people of all ages including young kids (god some of you people are so judgemental), so i don't see what the problem is...

man........... at this point i don't know what to say comment after comment, you people are absolutely judgemental lol god i could care less about the age i thought he was tryin to prove something with that, this alone proves to me how ignorant some of you can be on here, you talk about guido's being disrespectful yet some of you do the exact same thing, i find that pretty hypocritical...

take it down a notch. I thought you were implying that you went to 18+ and 21+ clubs, as you did not specify in that post. I was saying that that it retarded because at 13 your parents ought to know better and clubs do not always have the best role models for early teen kids. teen nights are different as they cater to the age range. chiilllzzzzz

gotcha...sorry i should have been clearer about that

As far as the deep house afterhours crowd, I guess "different strokes for different folks" is the best thing to say.... If I weren't so bogged down with a million things concernd with the party, I probably would have grooved along with them til at least 6/630. For all we know, they were calling our crowd crackheads. Some people I know personally say the deep house vibe at Shelter afterhours is one of the best parties in the city, so I guess everyone has their own tastes of course

yep... the main reason we're never having it on a saturday (thus, never sharing the venue with the afterhours saturdays) ever again... not sure who it was that was trying so hard to get the afterhours party, but if he was bald and british, his name is ben, he's the sound guy and resident afterhours opener, his email is on the http://www.clubshelter.com as well as all the other staff, in the contact section, for whoever would like to complain... it wont make a different for next time since most of the problems that were a result of having our party before the deep house party wont be happening again, since no saturdays, but maybe itll help future parties there not have to deal with the same negative vibe from the staff that some of you are complaining about.. i for one know of a sorta-TA-related party being thrown there next month, so if some complaint emails were to fly around, maybe theyd change their ways and, overall, just care more about their "guest" parties

that guy is a fuking tard.

that was him. wow the club has the light guy as the resident afterhours dj.

i can see it now. Cedric Gervais doing the lights in the mainroom @ space then heading out to the patio for afterhours.

what a joke.

Posted by massivenyc on Dec-11-2006 20:34:

all i can say is no matter what is going down at a club, when a dj throws down Lift by Sean Tyas everyone forgets about everything and everyone at the club just goes out of their gord!!! i certainly did! i'll never get sick of hearing dj's play that track.

glad i was able to get Tom in ok, the guys at the door were being retarded.

Posted by DJ Eco on Dec-11-2006 20:53:

that would be my fault, crossed you two off Martin's list since i didn't think you were coming (and not to complicate the comp count early on, which didn't really make a difference now that i look back), but glad you two got in!... phew! haha

well he was the sound guy, not lights, but either way, we'll make sure he tweaks the sound RIGHT next time for a tech/trance event
