I agree with Stace's comment on British and South African being totally different. However the girl might of been raised in the UK for a while.

It's very bizarre though. I have an English accent , but I've met Americans and Canadians who thought I was an Aussie. It was an Insult of the highest degree.

That's because most people don't know the difference between Estuary English (which I believe is your accent) and Aussie English...
