I dont know what the hell everyone is complaining about but i had a fantastic time, ill post pics as soon as i finish getting them from violetta...
i love the music, Yahel and Mark S1 were both phenomenal, they were cool with us talking to them and taking pictures with them.
as for the people that were there, yeah it was a little crazy and there was alot of jumping and alot of "YALLA BALAGAN" screaming, personally i like some room to move around without people pushing and jumping, but when in rome...so i jumped around too and it was fun, and for all those who are criticizing jumping and screaming should try to get in a "YALLA BALAGAN" circle...its alot of fun.
it was great seeing all the TA's there and it was great meeting you all. ill post a more in depth review on a separate thread as soon as i get all the pics and vids sent to me...there was alot of crazy shit happening and i loved every minute of it.

If you really want to see a real (and I stress on the word REAL here) psy artist, THE LAST PERSON YOU GO SEE IS YAHEL! Isn't it amazing to gather at the Guvernment or Docks or wherever and hear Duvdev from Infected Mushroom singing out of tune to his guitar-driven "balads"? Or get to see the Astral projection guys get wasted and disconnect the sound accidentaly in the middle of their so-called "live" set? Over the past few years, "psy" promoters from the Guv and the likes have been bringing self-conceited, snobby and arrogant artists, which have lived off their period of time (its about time for them to get off the stage and retire). These promoters have been labeling their events a psy-trance parties. BULLSHIT! These primadonna artists have put the psy-trance genre in a negative shade and continue to do so, ladies and gents. When a person says that never again he will see an Israeli artist, I don't blame him. After all, the so-called artists have tainted the view on israeli trance scene as a whole. All I ask is to once again try and open the mind on a lesser-known isreali artists, like Ace Ventura, Perfect Stranger (also known as BLT), Brisker and Matigman, ProSect/Sonify, Triac, Yotopia, Lish and few others that I could've missed. These artists are not only humble in nature, they also produce amazing music and play top of the line DJ sets. Over the years, we at Shakti Collective have been doing countless events with more or less great psy artists like Vibrasphere, Freq, Atmos, NASA, Antix and even brought an Israeli artist (ProSect/Sonify). All we get here is nothing but good vibe and friendly people. Noone is beating anyone up (because people come to a party to have a good time, and not to fight). I don't know which Psy parties you have attended that you found the crowd to be abrasive and rude (I think its probably the Guv and the likes), but at our psy events, we tend to see smiling and a happy crowd (we don't have crazy flag-waving Israelis at our events - even if the headliner is from israel). If you would like to attend a good psy party in toronto, here are some resources: http://www.shakticollective.com http://blacklightactivists.com or simply email to [email protected] to get on the mailing list for some good psychedelic events taking place in and around T.Dot. And by all means, don't assume that by attending the 1000th Infected Mushroom's performance in Toronto is a psychedelic trance event. In fact, it is a total opposite. P.S. and here's an alphabetical list of "Psy trance" artists to avoid: 1. 1200 Micrograms 2. Alien Project 3. Astral Projection (the superstars! Mission: Get Watsed, Disconnect the Sounsystem, Pick up girls while drunk) 4. Astrix (correct spelled as: Ass Tricks - one day you'll hear about his infamous "Mirror" story) 5. Dino Psaras (forgetting your another unreleased bootleg remix of New Order and blaming another person for stealing it - priceless!) 6. Eskimo (also known as Ginger Boy - How far do you have to stand away from the laptop to play a live set?) 7.GMS (known for their countless Ghost Busters remixes - about 3 different ones in 1 set - that's a record!) 8.Infected Mushroom (Psy trance? they are actually rock stars!) 9. Skazi (the best thing to happen since Metallica! We will rock you!!! Yehhh!) 10. Wrecked Machines (Another remix on New Order?? NOOOO!!!) 11. Yahel (now that's the star of our discussion here! Just read the above reviews) |
one word can describe the night....MEH.
got there aroudn 10.30 and they werent even open yet. the whole start was very disorganzied ie. lineup, guestlist, coat check, etc. The club itself is pretty nicely decorated but the ceilings are way too low for my liking (and fall down sometimes LOL
) they also need to ventilate it more since everyone was smoking.
markS1 had a pretty good set. very proggy house which made me move, and the guitar guy was a good touch as well. although i thought yahel shouldve came on right after since it wouldve been a good transition, instead of going into very boring house.
Yahel came on and had some good high energy stuff which was welcomed. the set was going good for about an hour. after he played voyage it went downhill from there. very very boring stuff that sounded the same.
the crowd gets a -10/10. plain and simple, WORST CROWD EVER.
best part was of course being with close friends. you guys made the night.
here are some pictures of the night and videos are coming up.

Music: 7.5/10 - Not bad... could have been better. I was really feeling it at the start, but near the end it started getting tiresome. His set was not really going anywhere, it was all the same type of trancy tracks over and over... I was waiting for him to get the set to more techy/hard psy-trance... but after a while got tired of waiting and we decided to head out.
Crowd: 0/10 - Terrible crowd. The most pushy, snobby, annoying, drunk, inconsiderate people I have ever encountered in such a large number. The only good thing about the crowd was that they were hyped and excited, which was cool, but I don't think they were into it so much for the music as for the fact that Yahel is from Israel. Yahel could have been playing Country music and they'd still be going crazy.
As always it was great partying with TA's. Always nice, happy, and just all round great people. Thanks to all the TA's that made it. It's always a pleasure.
how many of you were at Yahel @ Guv and Yahel @ State Theater last year?
compare the sets he played those to nights to what he played last night.
if it was your first time seeing him then yeah you prolly did have alot of fun and more power to you. i am happy you had a good night.
however dont be a fucking moron by putting down sarcastic comments and or bringing in racial comments about the night. it is because of people like you folks who whine and bitch about the dumbest things ever that the scene in TO is looked upon as a joke now. grow up ffs people. if somebody didnt have a good night then let it be. be glad you had a good night and move on.
really disappointed by some of the comments made in this thread.
shame on me and shame on us

Just woke up ,read all the reviews and here goes mine:
I'm kinda happy now that i wasn't the only one disliking the party.
Well some of my freinds were having such a blast , but As I saied before I'm beeing pickier about the music ,and lately the only thing that keeps me going is the good quality music.
The music
I wish I got in the club earlier so I could hear more of MArk s1's set . When I got in there he was playing "the white stripes- seven nation army (deepdish remix ? ) and I was loving it. But after Yahel came around things went from bad to worst. The biggest problem was the lack of flow and fast transitions in his set. Like instead of waiting for a banging track to finish all a sudden you hear some vocals without no break downs or anything.
Not really my cup of tea. It really really was getting annoying.
The Venue
It was my seccond time at fluid ,first time i came for M.A.N.D.Y. and it was such a blast , lots of room to dance!
But this time it kinda looked like a crackhouse! But that wasn't really the problem if the music was okay.
I wish they cleaned all those broken glasses though.
Trippiest moments
-seeing the roof come out and the staff trying to fix it for 20 mins
-This guy just falling down on me while i was sitting.
.Then i thought he's Fucked or something , next thing i know was that he jumps up and starts punching the other guy! and no one's stopping them. lol .
----------------
Anyways, nice seeing some TAs , we were all having such a blast in the begining in our little circle before the headliner came . Trancegrooves ,sean , hardcore trancer (nice meeting you bro) and the others.

Wow.. Alot of hate going on in this thread.
Anyways, I got in to the venue at about 1:30.
-I was definately not feeling the club at all, with the staff were exceptionally rude.
-Music was alright, I was expecting a better slap to the decks!
-The crowd well, all I can say is that they werent the most outgoing, and very much like the crowd, you usually encounter at most mainstream "top 40" venues.
I don't know if I will go see him again, but one things for sure and that is that I wouldn't go back to Fluid!
Okay.
The night began with the club opening LATE, and the guestlists not being properly sorted out. Thankfully the bouncer was nice enough to let us in without guestlist and with guestlist cover. We get into the club to find out that coat check isn't even open. So we wander around a bit, by this time I'm fairly annoyed not only at how unorganized they were, but how much fuckin cigarette smoke there was in the club.
Finally the coatcheck opens, and we stand in line for what seems like forever. This place has 1/4 of the number of people Guv does, yet the coat check seems to take 50 times longer.
After that ordeal we head to the dancefloor where people basically bodyslam their way to through the crowd. Not only that but I was basically falling asleep cuz the set was going nowhere.
The energy level goes up once Yahel gets on, but doesn't last very long. The dancefloor is more of a warzone, with people throwing themselves around and basically having sex up against peoples backs. I had to literally throw all my weight back to get these people to stop bodyslamming into me.
And we can't forget when the roof actually came crashing down.
A panel off to the side fell down and hit who knows how many people on the head.
The only good part of the night was when he played Voyage, and when we left the club.
I miss psy trance.
Lightshow Review: Yahel @ Fluid
Lets try to keep this thread HATE FREE!!!
I'll start by saying that i had a fantastic time, met alot of TA's and gave alot of lightshows. this was my first time at fluid and i got what i expected, its nice but kinda small i thought that the Yahel event would at least be throughout the entire venue so i was surprised to hear hip hop as soon as i came into the club.
it was nice to be greeted by a whole bunch of TA's. Hi-Fives guys. i enjoyed the music, and even though the people were a bit pushy, it was just the spirit of things and once i tried it out i had fun too. there was alot of jumping, hudling in tight circles and screaming "YALLA BALAGAN".
The highlight of my night was this one crazy chick, i dont know what she was on but she pissed me off. i lent her a glowstick to dance around with for a bit and she refused to give it back to me, WTF. so i did what any person with glowsticks would do, i shone them in her face out of spite, and after seeing her reaction i realized just how messed up she was, so instead of starting a big deal about a glowstick i started tripping her out with the ones i had. she kept going back and back, i started this whole ordeal close to the dj booth and ended up on the other end of the dancefloor cause she just kept going backwards. SO CRAZY CHICK, WHEREEVER YOU ARE...I WANT MY GLOWSTICK BACK.
Yahel and Mark S1 were really cool dudes, they gave shoutouts (check out the vids) and we took a bunch of pictures with Yahel, and Mark S1 was kind enough to actually give us one of his CD's from his set. THANKS GUYS.
so here are some pics and vids from the event:
AND HERE ARE THE VIDS:
THIS IS YAHEL GIVING A SHOUTOUT
THIS IS MARK S1 GIVING A SHOUTOUT
AND THIS IS ME GIVING VIO A LIGHTSHOW, YOU CAN HEAR HER CLEARLY SCREAMING IN TRIPPINESS!!!
edit:
lol
she really put up a fight for that glowstick, from what i saw
