i don't think i've ever seen a man hanged (outside of movies) before this. that vid is kinda fucking with me...

and to see his face at the end. everyone (media, his own supporters, etc.) has made him out to be this tyrant or great leader or whatever but watching it at the end really puts things in perspective - another human being dead because of the united states of george bush.

Yeah, ok, tis true he did that, but it wasn't really related to the Iran-Iraq War. Reagan and Thatcher did a great deal of supporting Saddam in the 80's for the war against Iran, so it would be pretty hypocritical for the West to try him for anything in that war. That whole war was about getting back at the Islamic regime in Iran for the American hostage-taking in '79. Unfortunately the animosities it created linger in the form of the current incursions.

But anyway, yeah, he gassed communities of Kurds and Shi'a that were calling for their independence from Iraq. And for that he deserved to be punished. But in a fair and democratic process, not a sham trial and a (now) public hanging.

And if you look at his actual conviction, it was for one or two incidents in the early 80's. Though to be fair, there's a ton more he was never given a conviction for.

ow ok..yeah they should had more trials and he should be convicted for more than that.. he got kinda away easy.. well.. now its to late anyway.. cheers and have a happy new year
