+1, I loved it in the Dortmund set, but live it is fucking amazing.

Trainwreck? lol I heard the beat slip for maybe 3-4 bars a few times but it wasnt what I would call a trainwreck...at least not an Oakenfold @ Coachella style trainwreck

Well, here goes...

We got there as Jimmy was putting on his first track and the monstrous bass was soon revealed. He played much "harder" than I had expected but still quality stuff. He did a great job setting the mood for what would soon come. And wow...the lights in the Blueberi tent were amazing, although NO BLUE LAZER!!

S&D delivered as expected but there were a few things that were slight annoyances...it seemed as though when Sasha was on the bass was distorted a bit but was fine when Digweed was on. It wasn't overly distorted but a nuisance with my sensitive ears. It also seemed like Sasha was the predominant DJ last night. I saw him on WAY more than Digweed...or it seemed that way anyway...I don't know, maybe I was hallucinating... This led me to believe that Sasha influenced the overall direction of the set more so than Digweed. The sets I have heard in the past seemed to have smoother transitions between the two coming on & off. Overall, I had a fantastic night out! They played some recognizable tracks that had the place erupting then there were some unrecognizable tracks that left my jaw on the ground. The last 1.5 hours in particular were amazing!

Oh, and Sasha dropping samples from Saints & Sinners Pushin Too Hard really did my head in. I heard it in the 1st track and then at least once an hour after that. I kept waiting & waiting for it and then finally towards the end, highlight of the night for me, I absolutely love that track...

At 5:45AM I realized I had not moved from my spot since arriving at 10:30PM...I basically only saw the inside of the Blueberi tent. We got through the doors right at 10:25pm so I basically ran over to catch Jimmy Van M. Dancing in one place for a solid 7.5 hours = priceless...

i'm still waiting to find out which mix of greece2000 he has been playing

Posted by Clovis on Jan-02-2007 02:25:

It seemed that around 4:30 some of the subs became over-powered by one of sasha's tracks and started distorting. I noticed this too and I was kind of puzzled when Digweed got back on and it sounded fine...dunno what was up to that but hopefully Sasha's crew knows and will look into it...

If you are going to an event that's in a venue that's NO a club with sound that's tuned often, you should ALWAYS have good earplugs, because chances are the speakers will be out of tune in some fashion and your ears will be hurting when it's all over.

Posted by jonnyblaze on Jan-02-2007 02:55:

Someone give me more info on Thom Yorke's Eraser. Which remix was it?! I want to know! I love Radiohead. I'm still heart broken that I missed the final hour and a half of the duo. I've been bitching at people left and right. Gosh. Ugh. MP3 anyone? *cries*

Really? It seemed everyone was being extra nice and friendly to me last night. Really positive vibe. Really helped make the night a little more special.

Ringing in the New Year with Armin & Ferry was epic. I had so much fun.

P.S. $7 water? WTFBBQ

No shit. Seven fucking dollar?? That and all the smokers in the tent were the only negatives. I just don't get how anyone can smoke while dancing. And it's pretty inconsiderate. Maybe worse than farting on the dance floot.

The Good:

VIP: Walked right in around 8:30, good setup with a separate VIP bar and chill area in each tent, from what I heard about the drink prices, this was really a good deal (I think with my 4 drinks and 2 waters that VIP was same price as a regular ticket!) No problem carrying drinks out into the main dance floor either, one of the best VIP setups I've seen (but bar was closed at 1:30 when I went back for last drink, and VIP bar closed completely after that, while regular bars stayed open until closing for water, soda).

Hearing Kristina playing Late Night Alumnis Empty Streets (Seamus Haji & Paul Emmanuel Remix)

An amazing set by Armin, he even danced on top of the stage at the end! What I heard of Ferry's set was pretty good too.

While waiting for the TAs who never made it for the meetup and group pic, I asked this guy standing nearby if he was from TranceAddict. Turns out he wasnt, but was visiting from Switerzland and came to see Armin. Turns out we have the same keyboard (Virus KC) and similar interests in Trance music, so we chatted for awhile and exchanged contact info.

Nice crowd, only a few pushes and shoves by some drugged out couples - they usually apologized if they could still talk.

Seeing TAs all over the place, hugging, and shouting Happy New Year!

Ending the night with an hour of S&D after Armin's set was over, a great way to close the night.

The Bad:

Pretty bad lighting for pics

Smokers everywhere, was fumigated in line for the restroom but leaving wasn't an option after waiting for 20 mins. in the VIP line!

The anticipation builds, Armin finally comes out on stage with Ferry and then 3 cameraguys stand in front of the stage completely blocking the view! Unfortunately, moving over in the dense crowd was not an option eitherwouldve been nice to see two of my favorite Dutch DJs go on the decks together!

ColdI didnt realize that heated tents were warmed only with body heat. First part of the night, I was seeking the crowd to stay warm (which worked out o.k. since Kristina was playing then)! Never got very warm, even up in front for Sasha & Digweed.

Its the cold/flu season. I was just getting over a cold and my friend just got one and had to leave early. I really feel for anyone who couldnt make it or didnt have a good time because they were sick!

The Ugly:

Restroom lines were insane, even for VIP, waited for close to 30 minutes at times.

The only food I could find was a sausage stand in the middle of the tents. First time I checked, the sausages were frozen, so they said come back in 30 mins. Second time, I waited in line 20 mins. to pay for a foil-wrapped plate, then another 20 mins. waiting for the food to be cooked. Saw the entire rack of chicken skewers go up in massive flames, then the fire was put out with bottled water. The attitude from the staff in this tent was just unbelievable, like they were slinging out slop to the peasants or something. I asked for my ten bucks back, fortunately the guy gave it to me. I left hungry but felt better walking away! If there was a stand with snacks, granola bars, chips or anything else I would have ate it but there was no choice.

Overall, a night of great music and the each of the tents was totally packed, which says a lot for the EDM community and our support for different kinds of music!

These pics came out the best.

Julia: You weren't the only one not feeling too well.
I, unfortunately, was not feeling to well either.
Aside from that, I had a great night!

We waited over an hour and a half for the cab to get to our place. We arrived just in time to wait in line for drinks, drink a couple of sips and countdown.

It was nice to see the few TAs that I did see!!
