On the FIRST day I walked into work and noticed the sheer retardation of silence, I was like "well, guys, I'll be bringing in my boombox next week." On this first day of music, the radio played the lesser of all evils... KROQ. Anxiety settled. After hearing the same emo tracks 103984 times in the same day, it was realized that EDM was the answer. And it was all good for a while. Until one of the co-workers whined for singer-songwriter crap... like James Blunt and other wussy whininess. A little compromise? Fine. But when it's incessant, I don't think so! She opted to bring in XM Satellite radio for something a little more "univerally accepted and people friendly." People friendly? How the hell is some lame dude sitting and whining about some chick he can't get people friendly? Boohoo, let's cry and make a support group at work now... This lasted shortly, until we came to an unspoken agreement. Today, the happy medium is UPOP--pop tracks from around the world. Yeah, there are some tracks that are... "interesting"... like italo-disco, British RnB, and Pussycat Dolls remixes. But at least we can hear commercial versions of Fedde Le Grand - Put Your Hands Up and Supermode - Tell Me Why and all those "radio edits" of EDM tracks that are everywhere but never heard. Put your hands up for Detroit! |
Right on! Love the responses here
Most of my friends and some others I know love this music. I personally like many different kinds of music, so I get real mad when someone's bashing on EDM and most of the time just sayin "techno" because I can't argue against them listening to crap, since I listen to just about everything haha. But, this does top my list, and it never gets old or tiring. I enjoy blasting it in my car just as well.
The only time I might be embarrased is if I'm listening to a song with female vocals, which I love, but yeah...
You shoulda cranked it up!
About to bump a Justice and Busy P set from the weekend a little later tonight

wow.. so many good responses here. I deal with this crap and by the fact that I'm african american, it's even more a big deal to my co-workers. I fell in love with trance about 8 years ago and never looked backed. I've seen all the dj's that you can imagine.
I no longer listen to the radio. It's really sad whats on there.... nothing positive, just songs that involves materialism and degrading one another.
What's more sadder is that most of our society looks for direction from these booty-shaking, gold teeth wearing, and bust a cap in your ass idiots on the radio.... I rather listen to Above and Beyond, K vs A, or some Ferry...
Well I can go on, but I won't... too all those who have party at Circus for the last few years..... I will see you guys tomorrow night & the 27th...
Well atleast Reds is coming back.. atleast to avenue I can deal with....hmmm George Acosta 2-2-07... maaayyybbeeee

FUCK that! Listen to what you want to listen to, and listen to it proudly! Why be ashamed of something that is so vividly a part of your lifestyle?
It might not be so true for you, obviously, because if it were, you wouldn't give a shit!
To me, EDM isn't just a genre, it's a goddam feeling and I love it! No other music makes me feel alive; no other music makes me dance so hard and no other music makes me rock out more! Spinning it, listening to it, mixing it on my computer...whatever it is, it's always the shit. I'm never ashamed of EDM.
I don't think I can have any more fun every weekend going out with my homies and dancing to the music that's the shit!

I don't know anybody that's as passionate about whatever music they listen (rock, hip hop, pop, country, etc...) to as I am about house. |

I can relate to everyone. At my work, at school, and anywhere else everyone considers EDM to be Techno and yes it does get annoying!!! Most ppl dont understand that EDM is a style/way of life. It helps me get through each and everyday....Don't know what i would do w/o my mp3 player?!
To all the ppl that clown on EDM they can all kiss it for real!
