| Originally posted by Mortyman Claude. No offense mate. But you have no idea what you're talking about. I've been involved in the industry by djing, organizing and promoting events in Whistler and Vancouver BC for years mate! And in NO WAY is saying good things about your party considered lame! What's the difference between telling people how good a party "was"... and how good a party "will be"? Wouldn't it be considered more lame to hear from someone saying that a party is going to be off the hook or will be the best party of the year... even though the party hasn't even happened yet?? By your reasoning, the same concept would apply. Please mate. It's our job to get the ball rolling and tell people how good, fun and exciting an event was or will be. Only if the mass decides to speak their opinion about how shite something was, then it makes the promoter sound lame and not credible. ![]() sorry, had to repost again, my comp froze, thought it was lost |

| Originally posted by Turntabulls lets put this into context. your favourite club in the world is lets say guvernment.. you go there everyweek, you get on guestlist ect. then you bring friends, tell your friends ect.. are you affiliated with the club? isn't that basically the same point you are trying to make? |
I can't tell you how many times I've appeared online to rave about my own parties! Maybe I didn't start a thread itself, but I did however go on to tell people that I thought it was a success, I never thought it woulda turned out so good, and I couldn't wait to do the next one.
And trust me man, if I was, your so-called, "affliated" with a party that was a flop, and I just helped find a venue. Damn well better believe I wouldn't rave about soemthing that turned to shit. I'd cut my losses and get the hell outta dodge.
Nevermind. I'm sticking with Owen M on this one. You're unreachable mate.

Apparently it's the end result for you! Don't be so close minded.
As I said before, I knew nothing about this, and it sounded awesome.
Consider the topic re-opened!

So we take what we do very seriously. Let us know if you and your crew want to enjoy yourself at Barcode and I will add you to our VIP list and escort you to a booth. |

| Originally posted by Claude Hughes Its been confirmed in this thread that Owen assited in gettin the venue for this night. You are "associated with THIS PARTICUALR event". I'm not saying that you will participate in future events but the fact that you had a hand in sorting this venue makes you "AFFILIATED" with this one event. You are considered as such therefore your reviews don't hold ground. This topic has already been on trial by the community of trance addict and the verdict is YOU ARE GUILTY. |

Here is something that should clear everyone's heads...
TRANCE AT MAC is a charity organization affiliated with McMaster University to throw and organize Trance/Progressive/House events to raise money towards various causes. This one was Save Darfur.
It is really incredible how such a group unified many many dormant trance fans together to enjoy the company of each other. The promo team and organization committee for Trance At Mac with the help of Owen and Mark getting us the venue made it all possible!
And for TRANCE AT MAC to pop its cherry with a sold out crowd with not a single negative review (except a minor request for more house) makes its something truly amazing!
Never have I been to a crowd where the family environment was so great! When one person partied in that room, he partied with everyone chanting away and singing along.
on top of that, THE EVENT WAS NON-PROFIT!!
All profits will be donated to SaveDarfur.org!
i dont care what anyone says... THAT, is something you can show off and take pride in.
i dont care who you are but if you contributed to that night whether events planning, student promo team, venue organization, or one of the great fans contributing to the GREAT VIBE... THAT, is something you can show off and take pride in.
I hope everyone that got turned away at the door or interested in TRANCE AT MAC keeps their ears open for our next event as it will continue set the bar for the TRANCE SCENE in Hamilton! and this time the profits will be donated to a charity to help struggling Haiti.
feel free to check out http://www.tranceatmac.com as the new website will be full up very soon.

I'm part of the Trance at Mac planning team and I can say that there really was no question that O Lounge was going to be our venue of choice. Me and the O Lounge team (Mark and Owen) are good friends who have been partying for a long time now, and I respect and admire their dedication to O Lounge and what they have built. O Lounge was the natural choice, and we jumped hurdles to throw a "mac" party at a club so far away from campus (by offering free bus shuttle service).
As far as the party goes, here are some reviews taken off our trance at mac facebook group:

^^^^^^^^^^^
the pics say it all.. what a night!
OMG! Get over yourselves!!!
First of all O Lounge is by far one of the best clubs I have ever been to...the venue is fucking amazing and they are getting more and more great djs in there.....I love this place which is why I dedicated some of my time to get Greg and Carlo at O lounge...Would never recommend the place if I wasn't sure about it!!! (and no i don't work for the club in anyway...I'm just their mascot!!!!! LOL however you spell that)
Barcode is the first club I ever went to in Hamilton and was pleasantly surprised. Always had an amazing time and great djs in there as well.
It's so nice to see two venues do such an amazing night....whether its friday or saturday!!!!
I love all of you at O Lounge and Barcode...seriously guys...why is there such a rivalry all the time...if the music is what brings us together then what's the problem???
By the way...awesome pics!!! Wish I was there....
We should call this thread the Barcode/O ultra Thread.
I mean really i'm ok with another club in Hamilton.
There are residents and headliners. Obviously if one headliner plays at that club they can't play at the other one, for at least a month or 2. Thats because we need to keep the lineup special.
If O ultra wants to work with 246 and barcode I am open for suggestions.
There needs to be some teamwork and as mentioned many times we are very intrested in working with everyone like minded.
I've just launched another night in Oshawa in the same respect, so we now have 2 Sat night events on the oposit sides of Toronto. How cool is that
Not to try to stir up the pot anymore, but I found O Lounge to be more welcoming and friendly than Barcode. I work at a club so I cant get out to clubs til Im done around 3. I've never had a problem doing that at O lounge, but at Barcode last week I was told by a bouncer that it closes at 3am, which clearly is not the case. $20 seemed to change his mind in a hurry, not my idea of a "for the people" club. The beats are definately intense at Barcode, and they should welcome people from the industry coming afterhours. No club courtesy is accepted at Barcode either, the only one in Hamilton I've had a problem with.
Thank you for your post. We would love to open our doors to you and provide you with our industry Club246 Courtesy Card.
