Miami seems like a nice place for trance and other forms of EDM. Nice that they have beaches and warm weather. Detroit is fine for techno, like with the Movement festival, but other than that..it's a bad place for trance. Sure there's somewhat of a scene, and Bleu does have some trance nights and trance DJs, but it's not my most favorite club in the world.
Necto in Ann Arbor used to have trance DJs, but it got too expensive. There's still hostility towards trance music in this area, since it's the birthplace of Techno (somewhat) and people tend to be purists. You wont find a single trance DJ at the Movement festival..it's all techno, house and hip hop basically.

personally.
I wouldn't defend the 'average person's' taste in any country. Look at the record sales, statistics reveal the average american's taste. |
I'm not defending the average person. I just want people to think about where the music they love came from before they bash that same place.

if your refering to me. i dont like house or techno and there never has been a trance scene in america maybe some events but nothing major. so i think i have a right to bash it as you have a right to bash trance or the european scene.

Southern California gets a lot of talent because they can do multiple venues within a close distance along with having a ton of people but San Francisco has a better vibe over LA/Las Vegas IMO

I've heard that it's all kicking off in Guantanamo Bay, torture, human rights abuse etc etc...they're all there.

| Unfortunately most Americans call any kind of EDM "techno". |
You get that over here a lot in Aus as well. Honestly I usually just do the same unless conversing with someone who knows a bit more about the scene. You're kind of stuck between calling it EDM or whatever and having people who aren't as into it go 'huh, so like, techno right?', or calling it techno and having the elitist scenesters go 'LOL NO TECHNO IS A SUB-GENRE THAT STARTED IN DETROIT MAINSTREAM LISTENING POP ******.'
Ok, not quite, but yeah you get the picture.

I don't feel I have the right to bash anything. But seriously there is a fairly good Trance scene in LA and SF. Why would I bash Trance? It is just a form of house music, and why would I bash the European scene? There are some great artists and DJs I like who are from Europe. And you never said anything about Trance specifically. You said Americans don't know anything about music. You didn't say Trance so I had to call you on your bullshit.

| Which parts of America are best for Trance, also Tech-Trance and hard house? |
hardly anyone plays tech-trance or hard house in US, no one here listens to that Scot Project dog shit
as for trance: la, chicago, nyc and miami are all pretty much equal - they all get the same overpaid shit masters 2-3 times a year; all your armin van tiestofolds.
pretty much the only differentiating factor is the climate.

i was drunk,it was within walking distance, it was free and i wasnt ready to go home ;D
i was standing on stage and some people were pulling at my leg so i look down and there was a couple trying to get my attention, so i lean down and ask them what they needed. they said they came from scotland or ireland to see him and i was like "you guys actually traveled outside of your country to see this? you gotta be kidding me". then they wrote something on a napkin and asked me to pass it to him.
too much

Don't believe the ppl saying MIAMI!!!!!!!!
Miami has NO trance scene. I've had to fly all over N America to catch Artists that don't normally come.. or only come during WMC.
WMC is GREAT but there is always to much to do and you can't see everyone.

Don't bother with NC, or the southeast in general, unless you are obcessed with Breaks. DJ Icey and Baby Anne (and every other famous Breaks DJ you can think of) come to Charlotte a few times a year, while we get a bunch of semi-famous DJs in other genres once in a while (4 months before a decent headliner?).
Ferry Corsten came last October, Chuck Love is coming in Feb, and Digweed is coming at the end of March, so things may be looking up here...
